Synopsis

Special episode included in the last of the nine Blu-ray/DVD volumes.

The story is set a few months after the last scene of the television series. On a calm day in Akihabara, Okabe and the other laboratory members are invited by Feyris to go to America. Mayuri and the rest are planning to reunite with Kurisu, who had come back to an American laboratory. A few days later, Okabe's mad scientist persona Hououin Kyouma arrives alone at the airport in Los Angeles, where he may be taking the first step to leading the world into chaos.

Steins;Gate is still one of my favorite series of all time because it makes you cry, laugh and feel something you've never felt before. In the time I finished steins;gate series, I decided to watch this.

This OVA is perfect to watch after you finish series, because it's happening just after it all ended. You just get this feeling like:" I missed you all ". I was a bit skeptical about this OVA, but I'm not disappointed, because this made me cry once more. There is no real plot or something interesting so anyone who didn't watch series, don't watch this neither.

After marathoning the whole TV series I could not resist watching its sequel, this OVA, Oukoubakku no Poriomania (or in English, Egoistic Poriomania) right away - and I was not disappointed at all. It is just as beautiful as its prequel, and I am talking about the final scene. It was not serious, but it would be redundant anyway. Feiris has to go to America and invites her friends - the laboratory members. They visit Kurisu, but she lost her memories about the other world lines, but her life in the other world lines always appears in her dreams. The kiss scene in episode 22 read more

Recommendations

Prime examples of special episodes that tie up loose ends and enhance the story of the main series.
Ok, so, while these two seem completely different in terms of ideas, the fact is, they have some matching core aspects.
For starters, both are essentially 'slice of life'. That is to say that while there are some strange things that happen, not much of it is outside the realm of possibility. There's a bit of time travel stuff in Steins;Gate: Oukoubakko no Poriomania and there's essentially a second world in Clannad (which plays a role in Clannad: After Story, until which it can be used to see a metaphor for what the main character is feeling).
They also both have a kind of romance 'undertone' (in lack of a better word) to them, which both series leave till the end to really focus on for a while before ending it off.
They also have a bit of comedy in them but don't allow that to be the centre of the anime, that is to say, while there are some funny parts, if you're planning on watching either one for the humour alone, you will be disappointed.
One thing that I CANNOT stress enough here though, is that you should NOT watch Steins;Gate: Oukoubakko no Poriomania unless you've seen Steins;Gate, BECAUSE YOU WILL NOT UNDERSTAND WHAT IS GOING ON!
