definitely No.6 and Banana Fish fall under the same ... "vibe" ?

both have realistic gloomy worlds that you end up being grateful that you aren't living in one  or the like, and  praying for the well being of those stuck in such toxic environments

both have relationships between the protagonists that makes you jealous and looking for your own "soulmate" irl. Cause FIGHT ME over this if you want! but I don't think there was ever a couple/partners more in love with each other than in those two shows! 
to the point where I find myself finding it difficult to call them "lovers" or "boyfriends" cause these two term don't come close, and instead seem to cheapen the value they hold for each other,

granted they are also young, and each has their own background and baggage and priorities to sort through, therefore it's not like its a "happily ever after" Disney ending 
but for what it's worth, they are thankful and grateful for the time they had with their SO 

Banana Fish may be a level above No.6 in terms of how hard it is to watch 
doesn't make No.6 a vanilla show, but at least you know where it stands in terms of heartbreaking the viewer

Anime that feature the dark side of society. Lots of action and lots of tragedy. Both have a "protagonists against the world" kind of vibe. In both anime the main characters meet by chance and spend time together, eventually falling in love with each other. Their relationship is never really mentioned or the main focus of the story, but it's clearly there as they face hardship and sorrow.

It is similar in a way the relationship is built between two main characters. Basically you can't tell if it is bromance or romance. Two totally opposite guys, one in a harsh world he doesn't understand. But it is better to watch No.6 first and then Banana fish. Because BF has much bigger impact ever watching and it is hard to start the next anime because tears are blurring the sight.

An action-y, kind of grim and tragic story with two characters who are from opposite sides of the tracks. Very intense. The titular drug adds a slight sci-fi element (imo). The relationship between Eiji and Ash reminds me a bit of the dynamic between Nezumi and Shion (innocent one and jaded one). Less arguing, though.

-Nezumi (rat) has experienced trauma at a young age, being taken away by family, has killed people and rebelled against a certain group of people who has done terrible things to him in the past just like Ash

-Both handles mature topics like murder or prostitution.

The relationship between the two main characters in No.6 and Banana Fish bears a lot of similarities. In both animes one of the boys is the wild one who learned how to survive "in the real world" while the other lived a shielded life and is only now getting to now the gruesome part of the world (be it the outside of a pseudo-utopian city or the insides of the american mafia).
But despise the main similarity being the main relationship of each show, in both of them there is a deeper plot that connect the protagonists to a conspiracy. They are both great. If you liked No.6, trust me, you like Banana Fish. read more

The main characters (Nezumi and Shion) have a similar dynamic to Ash and Eiji: one streetwise and hardened character, and one wide-eyed naive character, who are drawn to each other partially by how opposite they are. 

Additionally, both also feature lots of mystery, conspiracy, and corruption!

If you're captivated by Nezumi and Shion's contrasting personalities, I recommend that you watch Banana Fish. Like Shion, Eiji, one of the main characters in Banana Fish, has a very optimistic perception of life. They were both fortunate enough to grow up in a safe environment. Because of this, Eiji and Shion are a bit naive about the danger surrounding them. However, they later learn how unfair the world can treat good people and want to do everything in their power to stop their partner from experiencing any further danger. On the other hand, Ash, the other lead character in Banana Fish, and Nezumi both have a traumatic backstory. Though their experiences differ, Nezumi and Ash were forced to fend for themselves at an early age. Now, Ash and Nezumi have a pessimistic view on life and put on a facade to mask their vulnerable state. Even so, Eiji and Shion can read their emotions with ease. To conclude, Ash and Eiji are 2 parts of one whole. Ash provides Eiji with a reality check while Eiji tries to show Ash a more wholesome view on life. Just like Nezumi and Shion. Do you like snarky, damaged/abused boys with a Heart of Gold? Do you like those characters having a fun dynamic with an innocent but well-meaning friend? Slight homoerotic undertones? Lot's of angst?! Then you should definitely check out No.6 or Banana Fish. The character dynamics and the stories these two series tell are fantastically angsty, dark, and beautifully explore different themes and ideas such as gangs, tyrants in positions of power, and vengeance.

bananafish and no.6 are basically the same show with different plots. very similar characters, ideas, and storylines. bananafish is a better more developed show in my opinion; but the two main characters have very similar personalities to the main characters of no. 6.

if you watched banana fish for the crime-thriller elements of it, no. 6 might not be what you're looking for. but if you watched banana fish for the subtle shounen-ai aspects of it, no. 6 is the show for you. no. 6 takes place in a post-apocalyptic world, it does have some aspects of a thriller, but i watched it purely to see the relationship between the two main characters blossom.

both shows are similar in terms of the 2 protagonist which are from 2 drastically different worlds. one is forced to 'see' or get to know about the other 'world' or living condition that they lived in. so to put in simple, one is put into a different and new environment. if you watched or liked no.6, please give banana fish a try.

It gave me the same reactions in each scene, both got a big big drama that turn all of the movie into a different look we witnessed at first. Turn everything dark very fast, the "dark" thing in this situation isnt as "dark" as others but it show a reality look about the other side of our world. Both got a different end but we could simply see it as open ending

Episode 7 of both series convinced me to make a recommendation.

If you're looking for something with a similar story-line or genre, I suggest you skip this one. YOI is sports and slice-of-life, while No.6 is is some kind of dystopian scifi action anime.

However, when I watched YOI, I felt a familiar vibe and at first I couldn't really point what anime this reminded me off, till I scrolled past No.6.

Both series have a heavy focus on the relationship and tension between the main-characters. Imo, No.6 was the only anime I knew, who found it's place between 'gay baiting' and official Shounen Ai, but I have the feeling Nezumi and Shion will have to share their spot with Victor and Yuuri from now on.
The (black-and-white) main characters, have a very really close relationship, with heavily implied romance. Yes. There will always be people who still refuse to see the romance, but it's very hard to ignore the romantic vibes in both relationships. 
YOI is still airing, but I am pretty sure Victor and Yuuri will end up together, in some way.

Both series give us some nice character development too. In the beginning the main character (Shion and Yuuri) seems dependent and inferior to the other one (Nezumi and Victor), but as the story continues, both of them, as well as their relationship, starts to develop into a very interesting interaction between the main characters. 

If you like non-shounen ai series, that still have romance in their relationships and if you like nicely developed characters, be sure to check the other one out. read more

Both anime pretend to be story-driven but slip to being mainly about fanservice-y relationship between the two male main characters. Those two are basically shounen-ai anime with the genre tag missing.

This recommendation is for viewers who enjoy the normalization of homosexual relationships that both of these shows bring to the table. Both series have characters that are in a believable romance that doesn't seem forced, and both partners of each romance grow and learn from their respective relationships in a healthy and satisfying way. Both series are about more than just "gay characters"; they are about "a normal series with a plot that can stand on its own without the crutch of 'gay baiting', but there are also characters who just happen to be gay." And while the overall story of these two series are about as different as one could get, there remains a very tangible sense of "heart" throughout both series, which is why I recommend them. read more

The feeling you get bwteen the two male characters in each anime is very alike. You can see that in both animes, they have a really close relationship, without openly showing it.

If you liked Shion and Nezumi's relationship in No. 6, you might just like Yuri and Viktor's as well!

Both anime have a homosexual romance as a subplot. Neither are just "bait" and both couples have healthy and supportive relationship development. However, the difference is that No. 6 has action and sci-fi storyline set in a dystopian while Yuri on Ice is a modern sports anime.

Completely different animes but there is a similarity you don't see usually, even when two main characters are male and female. While not lovers, they have a deep relationship that you want them to be always with each other. they may end up together. (still if it was for two of opposite sex, they have no other choice but to fall for each other at the end. you could have expected that from the start easily.)

The plot in Yuri!! on Ice and No.6 is not the same in the slightest. But, if you're looking for the right amount of shounen ai, look here. In YOI, the boy x boy relationship is not confirmed until the 7th episode by the director, but I'd say its about the same for No.6. 

Yuri!!! on Ice definitely does touch more on the aspect of romance, unlike No.6, but if you would like more then watch it!

The stories are based around a future with high level technollogy that allows a select group of huimans to live in peace. Yet there is a dark secret behind the societies that they are living in. Both happen to feature young males whose perspective of the world is naive, not to mention innocent of the way the world looks. But when someone suddenly shows up, a person very mysterious, suddenly, their lives end up being turned upside down.

Both are about a world that is ideal in some way, and both of these ideal worlds have a dark secret behind. In no.6 a chosen ignorant group of people can live in bliss, and everyone who dares to have a different opinion are eliminated, reminds me of communism a bit. In Fractale everyone lives in a so called free world and receive a brainwashing frequently, so that no one would have doubts or questions. 
I think no.6 is deeper, darker and I personally liked it more. Fractale is a lot more light and childish, but enjoyable nevertheless.

Both anime present a technologically advanced, seemingly utopical world, with a lot more going on behind the curtain. The main characters are teens who accidentally find out about these secrets and oppose the authorities.

Both are noitaminA shows with a "social sci-fi" feel, with some similar themes. The difference is that No. 6 is a more blatant dystopia from the beginning while Fractale makes a point of showing both the good and the bad of the society it depicts. Also No. 6 has more yaoi.

The story focus on characters fighting against a utopian city that once they thought it was a safe and normal place. Both main characters slowly discover the secrets of the city they live in and stop being ignorant after finding someone who teach more about the world to them.

If you've seen Fractale you will agree that they give off a really similar feeling, and are surrounded by technology, and don't need to worry about safety because they are protected by the system. Even the art style is somewhat similar. Later on when the story progresses, it reveals the flaws in the cities "perfect" system. These series even have the same number of episodes.

Both series are rife with inconsistancies and plotholes which are never fully explained. they start out great presenting this idea of a utopian world, but soon shows that all is not as it seems. the worlds and styles are very similar, but could have benefited from a longer run time and more character development

Both shows have a continuous, non-episodic structure and are about closed societies whose residents are mostly kept from the real world. The main characters learn in time the horrifying secrets of their beloved home place and try to rebel against it. Both stories start with young heroes that grow older as the show progresses and show an open approach towards same sex romances.

Both are adaptations of novels telling a continuous story about a future utopia, which mystery is slowly revealed. Both use time skips and both don't shy away from same sex relationships. Unfortunately while Shinsekai yori is a masterpiece, No. 6 fails at providing meaningful conclusion.

No6 and Shisekai no yori. Both are set in a post-apocalyptic world, where there was an evolution through that survival. They live in a place that seems to be perfect, but it hides a secret behind the lifestyle that they force you to follow, for fear of thinking differently. People show strange symptoms, which are due to an exposure of several factors. The protagonists are getting to know the truth of this twisted world, trying to make sense of it and fighting against the system. Both series have their own style, merging fantasy with science fiction.

Similar in the way that they both seem to take place in a perfect world but when the protagoinst 'slips up' they are shunned, treated cruelly and learn the truth of their old way of life. 

Shinseki Yori also shows the cruelty of humanity but do it in a different (but kinda similar cos of the suffering aspect) way to No. 6

While both anime share a covertly ominous air, Shinsekai Yori ultimately delivers a grand story of far greater quality. Shinsekai Yori offers quite a bit of world building and is more story driven, thus offering little in terms of character development. It is quite atmospheric and has a great soundtrack. No.6 however is more down-to-earth and succeeds in communicating the emotions of the characters in much greater depth, compensating for the lack of depth in it's story. Both shows however take place in a dystopian backdrop, Shinsekai Yori being bleak and grand while No.6 is more heart-warming and can be related to more easily. No.6 however gives a glimpse of same-sex romance far more realistically that Shinsekai Yori. read more

 When I first started watching No. 6 I immediately got the Shinsekai Yori vibe. They both take place in a future where people are oblivious to things that are really happening. The reasoning for the future society both has to do with human destroying the world in the past. In both anime, the people living in the society are ranked and eliminated based on intelligence. The motherboard in No. 6 reminded me of the library in Shinsekai Yori. The parasitic wasps in No. 6 is similar to the tainted cat in Shinsekai Yori.

Both animes are setted in a futuristic world where devices conduct the inhabitants life style. The main characters are also similar, Shion and Akane being raised in a privileged environment, both being gifted students, having a bright future ahead of them. However, their destiny change when they meet  someoone who isn't part of the system, an outcast. Both animes focus on social issues in a world controlled by technology. If you enjoyed Psycho-Pass, you might as well enjoy No. 6.

Both anime have settings in the future. There is also some type of 'utopia' that in surrounding/influencing them that must be brought down. Though Psycho-Pass has a darker story, the similarities are obvious. They have amazing characters that go against the 'utopia' and the way they do it leads to a spectacular plot.

Both in societies that seem perfect but underneath have a darker side to them. Both will encourage the viewer to question what ends can be justified, although No.6 probably not as much as psycho-pass.

Set in dystopian environments and placed under questionable government control, the characters in both series must answer moral questions as they try to justify their actions and survive in worlds that stifle any sort of questioning at all. While Psycho-Pass is the darker of the two—not too surprising, as it was written by Gen Urobuchi—No.6 holds its own in terms of uncomfortable content. Neither series is suitable for the weak-hearted.

A notable similarity between the two is the inclusion of literary references. Characters from both series quote multiple classic works; the mentions are, thankfully, relevant.

Both shows involve a system set in place to monitor citezins in the future. This system watched each person almost constantly and is supposedly making the world a better and more peaceful place. The main character in both shows finds out that isn't quite true and what they were told about their society all their lives is wrong. Both shows involve groups that wish to make the system obsolete and get revenge for what the system did to them as well.

Both series are set in the near future where their current society is or is becoming corrupt. Both also use similar technology, however, Psycho-pass is more focused on the crime and police factor, No.6 is more focused on their dystopia setting.

Both involve a deadly virus that seems to be used by the government in both series to rule undemocratically. They both feature government corruption, rebel groups and take place in a futuristic setting. Yuki Kaji voices both Shion (No.6) and Shu (Guilty Crown). Both aired on noitaminA, and both have many flaws which have lead to both being called the worst of noitaminA.

Both series centre around mysterious epidemics, government conspiracies, and ragtag groups of rebels trying to reveal the truth and take action against the controlling and harmful governments. Guilty Crown has a lot more action than No.6, but otherwise they have a lot of aspects in common and a very similar vibe.

Well, the virus theme definitely sounds familiar here, doesn't it? Anyways, I found both series somewhat resembling each other involving the ""ideal" and perfect city" and the dystopian-like themes. The beginning episodes are also similar involving recusing the protagonist and going through hardships later on.

Both plots feature dystopias in which society, following an apocalyptic event and threatened by an epidemic, resorts to isolating and discriminating against those who are infected. The heroes of each anime, Sion in "No. 6" and Shu in "Guilty Crown," are both entangled in attempts to overthrow the governing system and ultimately faced with morally conflicting decisions in spite of their initially timid natures.

Althought character dynamics between the two shows may differ as "No. 6" focuses on the relationship between two male protagonists while "Guilty Crown" includes a male and female lead as well as several side relationships, the two are nonetheless mutually appealing for their humane character developments and moral storyline. read more

The first episode is almost identical up until a point. Aside from that, both feature a mysterious character with a beautiful singing voice, a clueless 'city-dweller', and a close friend to the clueless city dweller. Their voices even sound similar! 

Differences are that Guilty Crown is definitely more fanservice-y and the character designs are much more whimsical.

Love, ideals and dark truth. Those things came in my mind after watching Guilty Crown and No. 6. Both animes tell story about boy who's world got torn apart by harsh truth and he must learn how to survive in dramatically different circumstances.  Both series are built around relationship between 2 protagonists, that really want to protect eachother. If you liked No.6 and want to see story with similar plot to it, but with better audio-visual experience, brand new sad and exciting storyline i recommend you watch Guilty Crown.

Both anime talks about two friends who wants to overthrow the existing government.
Nezumi from No.6 have the same reason as the two protagonist in Zankyou no Terror: revenge while Shion is more similar to Lisa. The atmosphere, general feeling and character development is similar in both anime.

Both have youngsters trying to make a change in the world. Zankyou no Terror sets in the world now, but No.6 is set in futuristic world and has sci-fi elements. They're both tragic, and they include a chase where the main characters are being targeted.

Both have teenage boys with mysterious pasts working to expose the government. The rate of plot development is the same, and the relationship between Nine-Twelve-Lisa and Nezumi-Shion are very similar. Both shows have the same atmosphere, and if you liked No.6 you will love Terror in Resonance.

If you're looking for something regarding the plot and what its about. I'd definitely recommend Zankyou no Terror. The show is about taking down the government, and revealing them for who they truly are.

Zankyou no Terror has no shounen ai in it, but has the right amount of romance to make it similar to No.6 because the show is not based around the romance. Like No.6, in the final episodes there is more romance around there than the beginning but has the perfect amount. 

If you've watch No.6 and get emotional about shows, then you've definitely cried because of this show!! Zankyou no Terror will make you cry and get emotional as well. I can safely say I cried more in the end than the beginning, just like No.6.  read more

Both animes are about persons fighting a system they're captured in. Both systems are inhumane and cruel. Also the males have a deep friendship. No. 6 is not shounen ai romance but still has a BL subplot. Owari doesn't have such so far and I guess it won't since it's shounen. Owari is of very high quality (animation, music, atmosphere, story) and can bring your tears out. No. 6 has a very good manga/novel but the anime (is a rather stumpy) can't compete with the manga/novel in the slightest. Although Owari isn't shoujo it can be watched even if you prefer shoujo over shounen.

Both take place in post-apocalyptic worlds. Foreign species threaten all of humanity.
Both series have definite BL elements as well, but No.6 is a lot more explicit with their relationships. It's fluff in a dangerous world all over ^^

Both talk about a type of virus affecting a nation. Both have a sort of "war" between two different populations. Also has a protagonist that faces internal conflict because they have involvement with "the enemy population".

These are two of my most favorite animes that I am most passionate about. I watched them within two years of each other and although the overall plot is different, the characters and situations are not.
Like Nezumi and Shion, Mikaela and Yuuichiro were separated at the age of 12. Mikaela is much like Nezumi in a way and Shion much like Yuuichiro, Mr. There's Always A Third Option. 
In Owari No Seraph, fans find themselves either shipping Mikayuu or Yuunoah, like in No.6 how fans find themselves shipping either Nezushi or Safu x Shion. 
In both series, one of the two characters has a goal and wants to protect the other one. 
 Both shows have a great overall idea and fantastic characters. read more

If you like Seraph of the End, you shouldconsider yourself try No.6. It's quite similar since the 2 main characters are boys who are close and the plot they are in are similar for example, in No. 6, the 2 main characters have cured a type of disease that is originally created by some factory... I'm not sure if I'm right since I'm not good at explaining. But I recommend this anime

Both anime have got utopian socities. There are government-like systems to make society "perfect". People are being controlledd by the machines and they must obey the rules. Otherwise bad things happen to them.

I agree with other users- No. 6 and Ergo Proxy are both about utopian societies, and while No.6 is more hopeful and light, Ergo Proxy is great in its darker themes. Both have less explanations than other animes, but makes them all the more interesting to watch in suspense.

A dystopian controlled society masquerading as a utopia is pretty much a science fiction trope. Nevertheless, there are many and varied ways to present the theme. These two anime are quite different takes on a very similar topic.

Both story take place in a tower city that houses the elite rich and privileged in comfortable living.
Not all is allow to enter the tower while life outside tower are the less-privileged masses struggling to make a living.

Shangri-la and No.6 are similar to each other as:
1: they both depict an large incident occurred
         - which lead to a large construction work to create utopia
         - not many people are able to enter
2: one of the generation's people are the creators.
3: the opposing force makes friends with each other and joined up to destroy the utopia.

Shangri-la talks about a young girl that would rise up to be the leader of the anti-government group. She over comes many large difficulties that helped her to rise in power to bring the utopia down. From an innocent young girl that loved boomerangs, to a young leader who wishes for everybody to live in harmony.

No.6 talks about a young boy learning the dark secrets of the utopia and decides to open people's eyes for them. Due to helping a wanted criminal, he was stripped off his titles and brought to the normal living conditions, where after that, he learned about the dark secrets of the utopia and manages to escape from hell. where after that, he tries to help others to escape from that hell to learn about the real world. read more

Futuristic theme involving the utopia culture is involved in both of these unique series. Both series present an usual feeling as the episodes progresses though dealing with apocalyptic themes.

INCREDIBLY similar to this anime. The human race has retreated behind a wall, and are now being attacked by a threat that could wipe humanity out if they allowed. Main protagonist has to figure out how to stop it. Early in the series they are affected by said threat, but not killed.

The plots aren't the same, not even close, but the 'feeling' you get while watching them is the same. Dark drama, sadness, fighting, blood spillage, deaths and fighting to survive in a broken down civilisation with only 'hope' as your guide.  Also that both animes have secrets about the world that keep you guessing to the very end. 

Also the bond between the characters are the same.

Trying to place the similarities between the two shows into words is honestly complicated. In part, I don't want to give away spoilers. Seemingly dissimilar are these two series except for the same-sex content which crops up, that's really not the only draw. Perhaps then it is the draw of the characters, and how each is almost like their own book? Or the fact one is on the edge of their seat wondering what happens next. Perhaps words were easier to put down than first thought.

Both involve as main protagonists, a lively girl who loves the main protagonist (a white haired boy) and that boy makes a sort of "best friend" where they are always together, and the three of them try to find out the truth behind the mysteries involving their home planet/city.

Both animes have a serious dark haired character that takes care of a supposedly ditzy guy. Although in OreFuro the other MC is actually an airhead. Both animes have a strong BL feel, with No. 6 actually having a canon romantic element, OreFuro is just a HEAVY (I mean heavy!!!) bromance.

They are both a type of Shounen-ai, with deep friendships between boys and Nezumi kinda reminds me of Luka from Uraboku (Uragiri wa Boku na Namae's short hand version name) because they both are honourable, they both try to protect a weaker, soft hearted and almost clueless boy that they are friends with, they are both in love with the other boy, despite the fact there arent any confessions.... both anime are fantasy/horror based too with interesting side characters.... I'd recommend both because the art is fantastic as is the use of colour, the fight scenes are exciting to watch and the friendships are too cute that make you want to goo "awww" lol :P read more

(07 ghost) Upon the day of the graduation exam, Teito, one of of the most promising students in an academy for training elite soldiers, finds out the frightening truth behind the government. He attacks Ayanami, a high ranking general and is sent to prison. With the help of his best friend MIkage, Teito manages to escape to foreign(unknown) lands.

(No.6) On the day of his 12 birthday, Shion, a genius student in special track, hides the wanted escapee Nezumi. After authorities find out, he is then removed from the special class and expelled to Cronos.  4 years later, he finds out that his wonderful city no.6 is full of dark secrets.  He then questions the government and is sent to the Correctional Institute. On his way there, he is saved by Nezumi and they escape to the land beyond no.6

Other similarities: The main characters are similar in their naive way of thinking. They both just want to live peaceful lives. Teito and Mikage made a pact to never abandon each other when facing trouble. Similarly Shion and Nezumi saves and support each other.

The art is similar. Both series are very enjoyable and unique. I fully recommend both. :) read more

The plots aren't the same, not even close, but the 'feeling' you get while watching them is the same. 
Dark drama, sadness, fighting, blood spillage, deaths and the search for the truth in their harsh world with a little romance mixed in.
In No.6 case, the romance is more of a 'bond' between the main characters (cos they're both male) where Romeo + Juliet is about about their love and passion for each other - based on the original of course.

I also think that the animations are very similar; the way they move, fight and the way the characters are drawn.

So even though the plots are completely different you can enjoyed both animes on the same level. read more

Both have 2 male leads who are friends, and are in trouble with the authorities from the cities, so they are hiding out in the ghetto.

Innocent Venus is a bit more action-filled.

These are both BL with a similar feel between the main characters. Shion and Kong Hongjun are both innocent, more childish characters who are dropped into a new world they find fascinating. Nezumi and Li Jinglong are experienced natives who are dedicated to helping the main character.

If you like the dynamic between the pair in one, you should similarly enjoy the other show.

Im assuming you like 'boys love' anime so if you do, this is for you! NO.6 has a more serious tone, starting of with a sci-fi / future dystopian vibe but as the show goes on you get to see more of the main characters relationship grow.
I like that there are perfectly placed plot twists and humor. I recommend this to everyone!

Eventho on the surface these two titles have nothing in common: one is mecha [Fafner] and the other is dystopian fantasy [No. 6], the reason why I'm linking the two is because of the very gay [but not really gay] subtext of these titles. These titles offer male protagonists whose relationships [with each other] hover in the grey zone that is beyond a fujoshi's vivid imagination "slash" but not quite officially shounen-ai.  Though, not officially declared shounen-ai by the creators, there's also no statement denying the characters are not gay, leaving their sexuality or relationship with each other.....open to speculation [which is usually perceived as gay]. read more

There’s always a need for more good LGBT anime and these are two I found that handle the subject delicately and correctly. While Doukyuusei is much more a romance No. 6 shares themes of clashing ideals in romance and the tough fact of reality. Love is not easy and both of these anime show the side of a relationship that most other gay anime don’t. Feelings are not just smooth sailing and lovey dovey, things are constantly changing and you won’t always agree with each other’s views but when you truly care about someone you can find a way to make it work.

While this may not seem like an obvious pairing, by the end of Oushitsu Kyoushi Heine I felt that No. 6 had a very similar mood.  The princes are Shion, bright in temperament but oblivious to the people around them.  As the princes grow, so did Shion--through experiences that wouldn't have been experienced until leaving the comfort zone.  Heine's past and Nezumi's present offer the same reality:  Things are much more complicated and much darker than they knew.  Both the princes and Shion had to decide how they wanted to approach the trials ahead and tackle them similarly.  There are very few (if any) chibi parts in No. 6, so some of that lightheartedness is lost, as is the comedic aspect, but you feel the growth much in the same way; yet you won't recognize it until the end. read more

No. 6 and El Cazador de la Bruja have a sweet and naive main character who learns about the world they are living in and who they are in this world. Each character has their life saved by a stranger when they need it most and that stranger soon becomes their protection and they form a close bond. Each series features a close and lovely relationship between the main characters as they face the new mysterious dangers of the world head on while learning more about each other every step of the way. 

No. 6 is missing more of the action and there aren't any strong female leads here. Also Shion and Mezumi are like a more subtle version of Ellis and Nadie when it comes to personality, but if you've watched one before you might enjoy what the other has to offer read more

If you like the shounen-ai aspect of No.6, then you will enjoy Gravitation. Gravitation doesn't have a tone as serious as No.6. However, there is a dark past to both Yuki and Rat which affect their relationship with the main character. Gravitation will be more of a comedy and a little silly at times. But if you enjoy one show, you are likely to enjoy the other.

Nezumi and Shion resemble Daryun and Prince Arslan. Their individual personalities, their companionship, and even the way they look, it all seems uncannily similar. The theme of oppression and social inequality is prominent and important for both stories. They both take place in cruel and/or dystopian worlds. Tragic circumstances bring the main characters together to fight for their lives and for a better future..

Distant future, discrimination, action, experiments on human beings, bishounens as main characters - this is what you'll definitely like in "Cluster Edge" and in "№6" It will be to your taste. 
 However, Cluster Edge is more similar to Gundam series (planes, robots), it concentrates more on the story-telling, not just fighting scenes.

Both are Science Fiction stories taking place in futuristic cities, with border-line shounen-ai bromances between the two male main characters. No.6 is shorter (11 eps) and much darker with younger protagonists, while Tiger&Bunny is lighter and has a two-part plot (20+ eps). In both the spotlight is on the two male leads, one of who's goal is to get their revenge, and how the two grow closer and come to understand and value each other.

Both are Science Fiction anime mixing futuristic tech as well as showing desert-like wasteland environments, and focus on the moral dissonance between optimism and cynicism, angels and devils, pacifism and practicality. In this respect Nezumi/Rat and Wolfwood both act as the cynical ones, who have disdain for Shion and Vash's optimism and pacifism, but are ultimately converted. They have very different stories, but both portray a lot of the same themes of peace and compassion for human life, the value of relationships between people, and humanity's capacity for both great good and great evil.

Have very different characters and style but somewhat similar stories and settings in the sci-fi genre. They both take place in a post-apocalyptic world, No.6 in a city built to be a utopia with a wall to keep the rest of the world out, and Big O in Paradigm, a city where the rich live in domes, and few know about the cities outside. Both settings have dark secrets the main characters must uncover, and in doing so learn more about themselves.

Both are about a boy that ends up bring forced to leave their usual world they are used to. Both characters are then forced to adapt to a new world they have never experienced before, but end up becoming fond of it. The endings are similar too.

The theme of sci-fiction comes into play in both series.

Additionally, there are characters that are unique in t heir own ways and hints of romance (less so in No. 6 but based on mutual respect/affection).

Both series also has drama and small bits of comedy.

We must defeat them even if we risk becoming inhumane ourselves! They both center around societies shrouded in mystery and a curious character hoping to seek knowledge of their world's mystery. The characters are forced to change their morals as a result of their situation and the tragedies they face. The characters must stand against both allies and enemies in order to succeed in their goal. Even with tragedies, you must sacrifice what you have so that no more tragedies will breed new fruit. The most beautiful yet tragic soundtrack ever heard. They fit the theme of loss of innocence in both shows and the defiance of morality. To defeat evil, we must become evil. read more

No.6 and Sukisho both deal with two main male characters (who seemingly develop crushes on one another, although it's a bit more obvious in Sukisho). Their plots are both actually really unique and complex and they both deal with being stuck in a facility, or, in No.6's case, a really strict, futuristic city that is not what it seems. The main characters aren't all that different from one another, and they all have deep and dark pasts. Sora (from Sukisho) and Rat (from No.6) are both the passive-aggressive characters in the animes who have that secret soft side. No 6. and Sukisho are both great underrated animes that I would recommend to anybody.  read more

At first the protagonist was living in a good enviroment and hapinness, but suddenly they encounter someone that makes them see the "hidden" part of the world.
And they really feel similar.

Akira and Shion are both accused of false crimes. They both get sent to a place that only the best can survive. These are both shounen ai animes. They both end up meeting their friends later on in the place. They are also both violent.

I feel like I can recommend Bisco and No.6 together, since both have :
• That action Sci-fi vibe,
• Both main cast are two male who were at first unfriendly to each other but they grown on each others to become great friends helping each other in fights,
• (Not so) Ambiguous bromance/gay vibe,
• Main plot also turn around healing
