The Worse Version of the 90s OVA
This special is, without a doubt, a distorted and weaker version of the two-part 90s special episode. Like the original version, this special is weak, and the new adaptation (besides being just as bad as the original) is rushed and fails to create an intriguing atmosphere. Here, we basically have the same plot, but in a compressed version, without the necessary depth to justify its existence.
The only positive point of this special, for me, is the fact that characters from other films make an appearance. This is a moment that could have been used to create something unique, but

the big problem is that the mystery of how these characters got there, which was one of the most fascinating parts of the 90s version, is resolved right away. There's no building tension, no unanswered questions that kept the audience interested and speculating about what was really happening. Instead, the explanation comes right away, as if they were trying to deal with something important without having the time or skill to create something better.
The animation, while maintaining good quality, is unfortunately the only redeeming quality. It could have been used to expand the narrative, but it loses its impact when you realize the story was cut so abruptly and without development. At several points, the animation becomes almost disjointed, and the events seem nonsensical, which detracts from the immersion. For those watching with the memory of the previous version still fresh, this becomes even more evident. The accelerated pace compromises the action scenes, which could be more engaging, and the lack of a good explanation of what is happening makes everything even more confusing.
The impression left is that they tried to condense something much larger into a smaller space, and the result is far from satisfactory. Emotional layers and the connection between events that, in the 90s version, worked much more fluidly and impactfully are lacking. Not to mention that, by hastily exploring the presence of the villains and the origin of certain characters, the plot loses the suspense that kept viewers interested, something the original version tried to do (however poorly done it was) and which wasn't even attempted here.
In the end, my rating for this special was 3, and that was generous, considering that the animation still managed to stand out in some sequences (even if some of them were nonsensical). But apart from that, the rest of the special offers nothing really worthwhile. It's a waste of time, especially for those who have already seen the 90s version.

A versão piorada da OVA dos anos 90
Esse especial é, sem sombra de dúvidas, uma versão distorcida e mais fraca do episódio especial de duas partes dos anos 90. Assim como a versão original, esse especial é fraco e a nova adaptação (além de ser ruim igual a versão original) é apressada e não consegue criar a uma atmosfera intrigante. Aqui, temos basicamente o mesmo enredo, mas em uma versão compactada, sem a profundidade necessária para justificar sua existência.
O unico ponto positivo desse especial, para mim, é o fato de que personagens de outros filmes fazem uma aparição. Esse é um momento que poderia ser aproveitado para criar algo único, mas o grande problema é que o mistério de como esses personagens chegaram ali, que era uma das partes mais fascinantes na versão dos anos 90, é resolvido logo de cara. Não há aquela construção de tensão, de perguntas sem resposta que mantinham o público interessado e especulando sobre o que estava realmente acontecendo. Em vez disso, a explicação vem logo de cara, como se tentassem dar conta de algo importante sem ter o tempo ou a habilidade para criar algo melhor.
A animação, por sua vez, até que se mantém de boa qualidade, mas infelizmente é a unica qualidade que se salva. Ela, que poderia ser usada para ampliar a narrativa, acaba perdendo força quando se percebe que a história foi cortada de forma tão abrupta e sem desenvolvimento. Em vários momentos, a animação se torna quase desconexa, e os acontecimentos parecem sem nexo, o que acaba tirando um pouco da imersão. Para quem está assistindo com a memória da versão anterior ainda fresca, isso se torna ainda mais evidente. O ritmo acelerado compromete as cenas de ação, que poderiam ser mais envolventes, e a falta de uma boa explicação sobre o que está acontecendo torna tudo ainda mais confuso.
A impressão que fica é a de que tentaram condensar algo muito maior em um espaço reduzido, e o resultado não é nada satisfatório. Faltam camadas emocionais e a conexão entre os eventos que, na versão dos anos 90, funcionavam de forma muito mais fluida e impactante. Sem contar que, ao explorar apressadamente a presença dos vilões e a origem de certos personagens, o enredo perde aquele suspense que mantinha os espectadores interessados, algo que a versão original tentou fazer (por mais mal feita que tenha sido) e aqui não foi nem tentado.
No fim das contas, a minha nota para esse especial foi 3, e isso foi generoso, considerando que a animação ainda conseguiu se destacar em algumas sequências (mesmo que sem sentido, em algumas delas). Mas fora isso, o restante do especial não oferece nada que realmente valha a pena. É uma perda de tempo, principalmente para quem já assistiu à versão dos anos 90.
