Story:
Based around a character that wants to become an idol I really didn't expect much from this series. Starting out with that prejudice I was surprised to see new approaches in this business and was instantly drawn by this anime. Unlike other storys full of clichéd stuff, our protagonist (Kyoko) isn't driven by the wish of fame, money or power as it is common. No, all she wants is revenge on her former ... well ... "boyfriend"... kind of... not.
With this the anime's story thrives very much from character developement and I mean REAL character developement. Additionally it is well rounded up with a lot of good comedic events.
But in the end it turns into an all to common basic plot: the protagonist has to overcome obstacles with hard work, just with a nice twist. Don't get me wrong, this isn't necessarily a bad thing. It's a solid story, just not an all to originally one. Still the added surprising elements are what makes this very good.
9 points for a story with a relly nice change
Character:
With Kyoko, for once, we have a female lead that is independent and isn't waiting for a prince in shining armor to save her. It's pretty much the opposite, since she is already disappointed of her prince, that took her out into the big town so she could do his chores... actually that's not quite right... she came to hate the prince and wants revenge for using and playing her.
Having that said, Kyoko is a rather fresh and surprising character. With her hate and her own spirits fighting each other we see a lot of her inner conflict of trying to become loved by the public and at the same time being full of hate for Shotaro. We can expect a lot more character developement.
The other two male characters influencing Kyoko's new life certainly seem interesting as well.
Shotaro is pretty much the guy who thinks too highly of himself and is for now the perfect guy for Kyoko's hate manifestation, but then there are times where it seems like all that Kyoko want is to be acknowledged by him.
Ren on the other hand is a perfectionist, who takes his job seriously and expects others to do so as well. Since Kyoko is want to be an idol only out of revenge he certainly has a little problem with her. But judging him now wouldn't be right, since there wasn't much screentime focused on him up till now.
9 points for Characters Development to look forward too
Sound:
The background music/sound often go by unnoticed, which actually might be a good thing. That is not because the music is bad, but rather because this way the watcher can focus a lot more on the story. Which in turn means it's simply not necessary to pep up the story with catchy music, because it can stand on it's own. But you gotta admit the music isn't too impressive either.
I won't rate the opening and ending, since that often depends on personal flavor. (okay... I do prefer the ending song ^_^)
7 points for a well used and solid music
Art:
The art quality certainly is a very good one. Definetly above todays average. The characters are overall very well drawn, and the backgrounds are always fitting the context perfectly.
Sadly animation quality is at very few points not at it's peak, but even then still a good one. Also sometimes the background seems a bit empty, but that's not to big of a deal since it's usually enough to carry the athmosphere.
8 points for nice work from the graphics department
Enjoyment:
The story just makes me want to cheer Kyoko on. Damn, this girls deserves her revenge. *waves a Kyoko flag with waterfall eyes and starts shouting "KYOKO! KYOKO!"*
It's not only the really interesting story, but also all the little bits which make laugh that make this anime such a great show.
This anime goes even with a perfectly balanced pace, blended out of story advancement and humour.
10 points for Kyoko and all the hilarious moments
I for myself find me really enchanted to Kyoko and this anime. So give it a try as well. ;)
9 points overall

We know the story of the plucky girl making it big in the glitzy world of showbiz. It's the story of Bridget Jones, Josie, the Pussycats, and even Hanna Montana. Skip Beat! puts a welcome spin on it, and it's not just the (fascinating) insight into the Japanese entertainment industry. The story is consistently compelling throughout, and the surreal imagery is inventive and keeps the tone light and humorous, even as its emotions are scathingly deep.
While it's not beneath the show to humiliate the characters or make them look foolish, they are complex and principled, and the show has enough compassion to give them their dignity. The way it allows even its most prickly characters to learn and change feels natural, authentic and worthwhile. It's rare to see any show about anything from anywhere as concerned with human dignity as Skip Beat! is.
Let's have a second season, already. read more

It has funny moments as well as serious moments. The characters aren't just crazy and hilarious. They all have backgrounds that aren't really that happy. The main character is also sort of thrown into a world that she isn't used to. There are also many cute guys.
Both are shoujo comedy shows that have romance elements. They have a strong female lead and are in the TOP 100 on MAL.
A big amount of really great comedy is present in both of them.
Skip Beat! can shine with lots of chibifications, hilarious moments, a great way of using different animation styles, a good story and interesting characters.
Ouran Host Club on the other side is a reverse harem at its best and also has lots of these hilarious moments.
Both are shows you shouldn't miss, if you like comedies.
The stories are different, but the main characters are similar - smart, quick, determined, tomboyish "commoners" (though Haruhi is much more mature than Kyoko). The humor is similar too. I think if you like one, you'll appreciate the other one. They are light and funny and great
Ouran and Skip Beat! are both about exceptionally strong women in unlikely circumstances. Both series have striking art and a cast of strapping young bishes to oogle.
Well, the feel that is. Not with the story or anything. Both the leads are such enjoyable characters, Haruhi and Kyoko. I like girls who know how to fight and not the damsel in distress type. These animes well represented the Shoujo Genre. Girl Power!
Simply: both are love-comedies with a lot of bishies.
Main female characters are not very much alike, but they both only have one parent, are commoners, stubborn, nice and brave.
Imo, OHSHC is still better.
Both series have crazy events, lots of humour and little of romantic.
Both are full of hilarious humor!
They both display strong woman that don't give up. The two female characters are usually one's to give advise and make others happier.
Both have comedy, but Ouran High Schoo Host Clubl is definitely funnier than Skip Beat. :]
When it comes to Romance, in Ouran the main characters fail to notice their feelings for eachother through out... just about the entire anime, but they do have moments of romance which make it cute :P In Skip Beat, the romance is more on the sadder side, but it more about understanding the concept of being in love. Then again both guy and girl fail to notice their feelings for one another until later on in the anime.
Funny characters, with beautiful bishounen males.
If you liked the humor, funny acting and animation exaggerations from Skipbeat, you`ll enjoy ouran aswell. (:
Many similar scenes and characters!
They are both hilariouse *sp?* anime and the main character in skip beat have the same personality as tomeki in OHHC with a mad way .Also they are not long and you will enjoy every single moment of them .
Both are hilarious, romantic, with strong female leads. They have similar romantic backgrounds, with both the female leads disliking the male main characters in the beginning, but falling in love in the end. I highly recommend Skip Beat if you liked OHHC!
Both anime is solely based around one protagonist (girl) and the things that happen which changes the way she is.
Ouran and Skip Beat! are equally funny and enjoyable. The main character's inner thoughts are one of the best parts in the show.

Forceful main girls, and both have a vulnerable sides. They also can't stand a certain guy.
Both series have a tense relationships between sexes. In Skip Beat! it's Tsuruga Ren and Mogami Kyoko and in Kaichou wa Maid-sama! it's Usui Takumi and Ayuzawa Misaki. Girls in both series are trying to reach their goal no matter what, have a strong attitude and dedicated to their job. Although girls look very similarly and guys are always silently support those girls they love.
Strong female character in a leading-role (xD)
Things are inverted though:
Ayusawa, the strong and cold female president of the student council, succumbs to Takumi's "pheromones" in Kaichou wa Maid-sama,
However, in Skip Beat!, your demanding and perfectionist biseinen actor Tsuruga is who ends up being attracted by Mogami's personality
Both are enjoyable comedy shows
These anime are very similar. Similar characters and chibi сharacters and girl that hates boys like Kyoko.
Both series are very amusing and funny. They both deal with the life of a female protagonist. The main characters Misaki and Mogami are both willful and determined girls who can take care of themselves.
Both main female characters have a strong personality and chibi forms are similar.
Both have a fiery, hardworking female protagonist who are trying to accomplish a goal, while combating the day-to-day challenges that pop up.
Both have their bishounen characters there to tease the girl and create a love interest while the heroine holds little or nothing for love, or even betrayals of some kind by the opposite sex.
And both are Romantic Comedies with a wide variety of characters & events, and two heroines that arent afraid to get their hands dirty and kick some ass.
It's just that one takes place in school mainly, and the other in lots of places.
They main characters have both strong will and are great in many things.
It's humorous and they fascinate you every time
when watching kaichou wa maid-sama it somehow reminded me of skip beat
Both the main girls in these two series are tomboyish with similar personality along with a hardworking attitude.
Both series has tons of humor and drama.
Both anime(s) features romance themes.
Both series has popular main male characters.
Both have "chibi" scenes :P
Both series features the main girl working for a goal.
Both series have high energy.
Both series have similar animation style
Yup, you get the idea.
funny, romance, cute but mysterious male lead
Both romance, interesting and energetic. Kaichou Wa Maid-Sama is about the main guy finding out the main girl's secret. Both animes are comedy. I love them both C:
