Princess Tutu's not like Evangelion, it simply did all the themes and stuff better. It's actually pretty wholesome and dark comedy centric but it has great mystery around it
Evangelion failed where Princess Tutu shined the most, It's basically Evangelion but not depressing just wholesome with smart humor and great characters
Dk Gungrave is pretty rare among watchers, some just have an unjust hate on the second half of the series, These people don't get it that the second half was supposed to be like that cause it has to at least replicate the original videogame to be called Gungrave. Plus the ending was so much better even tho 2nd half was like ok really good and the first half was brilliant but the ending was just amazing and perfectly suits the overall series and a perfect closure to the series
Oh, ok. I read the synopsis and it sounds like it got some potential to be interesting. The rating is kinda low but since I’ve never read it I can’t really form an opinion on it. And yes, the author of FMA is a female.
Nah Tokyo Ghoul re kind of fumbled half way for me, meanwhile the original is pretty good if u ask me the characterisation and all was great in the original. Oh u are talking about Kaneki, Honestly I never felt a thing about him when I read the manga I was like ok he is pretty cool looking character, Ok he has different personality pretty original (Sensui from Yyh), He is good and all but i didn't resonate with him at all.
If you’re asking about live action shows, I’ve been watching The Wire which has been surprising me with how good it is. It’s basically about the drug trade in Baltimore, Maryland in the USA. I’m still on the first season though. If you want a show that’ll make you cry, then you gotta watch Band of Brothers. It’s considered the best miniseries ever made and I agree. It’s about real life American soldiers during WWII which idk if you’re interested in that. On the other hand, if you want something that’ll make you laugh, it’s gotta be Garth Marenghi’s Darkplace. It’s only 6 episodes long and you can watch it for free on YouTube. It’s tradition for me to watch it every Halloween since it’s like absurdist horror comedy.
If you’re asking for anime recommendations, I highly recommend Baccano! It’s one of my personal favorites and it has like a Momento-esque story structure where the story is constantly being told back and forth from the past and present. It sounds confusing but the show is good at balancing that aspect really well imo. If you’re a huge James Bond fan like I am, then you gotta watch Lupin the Third. The best part about that series is that it’s super episodic, meaning that there’s no overarching storyline and you can start wherever you want for the most part, with parts 4-6 and the Fujiko Mine spinoff, you do have to watch those in order.
Anyway, I recommend either starting with The Castle of Cagliostro movie which is the most popular Lupin-related media to date and was my personal introduction to the series and what made me a fan. As a matter of fact, it’s Hayao Miyazaki’s directorial debut! Or if you don’t want that, I’d recommend starting with Part 4. However, I wouldn’t watch EVERYTHING Lupin the Third related like I have unless you want to destroy your mental state because there is a fuck ton of content and most of it is kind of mid although there are gems if you’re patient enough. It’s really a series that you should come back to once in a while instead of binge watching it. It’s honestly my comfort anime but that’s just me.
And one more recommendation I have, I highly, HIGHLY recommend watching Mars of Destruction. And make sure you are watching the fan made dub because that is one of the most thoroughly entertaining things I have ever seen in my whole life. And it’s only 20 minutes so it doesn’t waste too much of your time, but I guarantee that it is some of the most masterful 20 minutes from you’ll ever experience.
I agree with where you're coming from. Tbh I'm not really the best at rating and critiquing things as you can see on my page, but I do my best, and I mostly use this website to remember all the anime that I have seen. Sometimes whenever I watch something, idek if I like it or not or what my critiques or praises are. Most of the time I watch stuff just to be entertained and maybe feel something from and I think that's totally fine.
For me, if the rating is high, that means I was entertained the most and also felt the most emotions, not necessarily if it was good or not. But hey, I usually don't get offended by anyone having a different take than me because everyone is entitled to their opinions.
And yes, recency bias and using nostalgia as an excuse for if it being good is pretty annoying. But I'll admit, even I can be a victim of this sometimes. Not with recency bias but with nostalgia. I mean, nostalgia is a very powerful emotion for people but it's important to understand that we can't look through everything with rose tinted glasses, because that's not a very healthy way to live life.
Haha, yeah I understand what you mean with the whole e-mail thing, but it has some charm to it. Hope you like Clannad once you get around to it, please do tell me what you think whenever you decide to start! :D
If you get through "Clannad" which is the first 25 episodes you'll be in for, what I believe to be, the most emotionally charged anime there is. Shit made me cry so hard at multiple points. It's not a "sad just to make you sad" type of show like Angel Beats; the characters are grounded and fleshed out, especially the protagonist. It's one of few romance anime that goes above and beyond the "high school romance" trope and actually goes into adulthood.
It's a beautiful show I wholeheartedly recommend it, but yeah. "Clannad" is somewhat mediocre, "Clannad: After Story" is where it truly shines in my eyes.

Gungrave is a less appreciated masterpiece

I don't think I have seen anyone add Gungrave or Princess Tutu on their favourites
I started from 2017 that's why the list is large
Btw i don't get it wdym by politically correct? 🤔

Oh yeah, and watch Black Lagoon, it’s the shit.
