Hi, I'm Ion, I've loved watching anime since I was a kid. I mostly rate anime compared to others of its genre, so I don't necessarily think a comedy action and a political drama in the same rating are comparable, but comparing them is kinda futile as they go for completely different things. Dragon Ball and Pokémon are basically the series that defined my taste, so I tend to be pretty biased towards them. I just drop anime I find awful and that would probably get a lower score if I finished them, but I'm more prone to drop manga because of less investment in them and because they consume more time. I never delete comments so feel free to leave whatever you want.
1: An anime that I not only found effectively without redeeming aspects, but that I outright hated and/or felt insulted by on a personal level
2: A really bad anime with only minimal redeeming aspects, being so bad that I'm unable to take it seriously and/or be engaged to it on any level
3: A bad anime with major flaws that, unlike a 2, actually manages to make me feel engaged and/or take it seriously on some level, so I can at least respect they tried
4: An averagely bad anime, it can have good scenes and/or ideas, but I ultimately failed to find it good, and in many cases they're plain boring
5: A meh anime that doesn't leave much of an impression and/or bores me immensely despite me not finding it actually bad, or one I'm so conflicted about I'm not sure what to think of it
6: An averagely good anime, an anime that I actually found to qualify as properly good, in which I engaged enough to truly like it, but that I still didn't find outstanding
7: A good anime that I truly enjoyed, not only achieving me considering them good but also outstanding in some way, being considerably above a 6 but still not masterful enough to be a 8
8: A really good anime that excels masterfully in a couple of aspects, being extremely good in quality and getting me to truly engage to the deepest level with it. These can be considered honorary mentions to my favorite anime
9: A really good anime with only minimal flaws, or at least not any flaws I feel are worth considering for what it aimed to do, with practically everything about them being of a masterful quality. These can be considered the lower part of my favorite anime
10: An anime that I found practically perfect, going above and beyond at everything it tried, these anime are such great constructed works of art that I find them fitting of the title of masterpiece. These can be considered the upper part of my favorite anime
It was a standard action flick as far as I remember, which, while nothing great, seems okay for a new franchise film, and it felt like a different universe; I'm not sure any of the Post-SAC GITS films without Ubukata have been that good either. His Psycho-Pass was much more egregious since it was a direct sequel, making the differences all the more jarring. What he did with the villain is schizo fanfiction writing, and one of the most bizarre backstories I've seen for a villain. I'm curious if I'll ever like anything with Ubukata attached. He's an absolute nightmare for a series, but I can see his shotgun approach maybe working for an action film someday...
Yeah, I can't see Yamada being picked for a sci-fi adaptation. I think a fair amount of them were directed by Yuasa before he stepped down, but quite a few of those had episode directors/co-directors, so it could be one of them, but I'm not familiar with most of them. I could maybe see Shingo directing since he's been on quite a few big series and has directed there already, but I figure it will probably be someone new and outside of the studio, though. I did see the first Arise movie, which either was scripted or had a screenplay by Ubukata, but I didn't bother to add it to my list because I don't remember it at all, except that it was definitely subpar compared to GITS 1, 2, and SAC S1 and S2.
I suppose a more faithful adaptation could be interesting, even if competition with a film as famous as Oshii's isn't ideal. But I feel they prefer to mix things up if Devilman is a sign of anything, and I'd prefer an original story with the same world and characters... I don't know enough about the staff lineup of SARU, other than Yuasa stepped down, and they had Shingo Natsume for Time Machine and Naoko Yamada for Heike Monogatari. Seems like it could be anyone who they think is a good match. At least they probably won't bring on Ubukata, so there's that. XD
Whoa, that's a ways off for GITS—2026! I'm probably going to watch all the GITS stuff I haven't seen eventually, and I'll watch Science SARU's take on it once it airs. I'm afraid to check for production art, as the style has changed so much over the years, and I'm not too keen on the studio, though they have done some pretty decent stuff.
Monster meme lol XD. Do you know what the cartoon is that's the template for the meme? Kind of looks Russian to me, but I'm not sure if I've ever seen this before.
It seems like this is not due to a change in the algorithm but because of a large number of bot accounts with hidden scores, I will wait until MAL resolves this issue before making any changes.
I honestly burst out laughing while scrolling through your completed list and using ctrl + f to find popular series that are also considered good, such as "Apothecary Diaries" and "Frieren." It's so predictable that these types wouldn't rate them highly. Not that you hate everything popular just to be different, but you're definitely flirting with that mindset, and it's obvious.
Thanks, I was curious how it would shape up in the latter half of the series. This is maybe the only isekai where I wouldn't mind rewatching the older seasons, and a few parts, like the massive skeleton in the desert reminds me of S2.
Since you asked me about OVAs a while back and you like some of the JoJo seasons, you should probably try the first two JoJo OVAs. I'm biased toward the older aesthetic and have a hard time getting used to David Production taking over. Of course, it's an incomplete adaptation, with the 1990s OVA being Stardust Crusaders. Not sure why they chose to adapt it like that, lol.

Based on your comment section as of late (Maomao enjoyers), this could be your theme song, you hater, you! The title always made me laugh. XD
Incidentally, most anime fans probably recognize them from Gunslinger Girl.
No idea what Yaiba is. :O
