Sometimes romance is just everywhere and we need a little platonic hug from a good show. These all are comfy shows that have no romance, and if its there its minimal enough that I can't remember it :b
Doukyonin wa Hiza, Tokidoki, Atama no Ue.
TV, 2019, 12 eps Me:- Author:8
So wholesome. I love. Any animal lover will adore this, especially If you've dealt with depression yourself. It hit home and felt like a warm blanket.
Kaze ga Tsuyoku Fuiteiru

This got me into the sports genre, such a great show. Who doesn't love a story with great character chemistry and development?
Eizouken ni wa Te wo Dasu na!
TV, 2020, 12 eps Me:- Author:9
This show has some of the most creative animations ever, and the characters are super awesome. You can tell so much love went into this anime.
Isekai Yakkyoku
TV, 2022, 12 eps Me:- Author:7
dear god tysm for finally creating an isekai with a male protagonist who isn't in a harem. very refreshing and nice to watch.
Ousama Ranking
TV, 2021, 23 eps Me:- Author:9
oh my god what a wholesome show. It also has darker and intense issues and themes that the characters go through but the warmth and kindness that boji brings into the world and watching him struggle to achieve his dreams made me sob so many times. Very emotional but feel good.
Barakamon
TV, 2014, 12 eps Me:- Author:-
I can't remember much of this lmao but ik it was very good. It follows an artist and a little kid in a small community. This found family dynamic was warm and inviting, and I couldn't help but feel a familiar sense of belonging. Weirdly it reminds me of seeing family as a kid and running around making friends with unknown cousins.
Dungeon Meshi
TV, 2024, 24 eps Me:- Author:10
Absolutely awesome show! the characters have great chemistry with each other and are all well-rounded, relatable, and super lovable. There are lots of wholesome food-making scenes and an emphasis on using self-care to achieve your goals. It has a well-developed world and an interesting plot perfectly balanced with the cooking so it doesn't get boring.
Gin no Saji
TV, 2013, 11 eps Me:- Author:8
this one is very healing and educational with realistic character development that feels human. it does have a mutual crush thing going on but its done in a way that feels like a natural addition to the plot and not a big part of it. Definitely worth watching both seasons :)
Honzuki no Gekokujou: Shisho ni Naru Tame ni wa Shudan wo Erandeiraremasen
TV, 2019, 14 eps Me:- Author:9
Man, what is more fun than watching someone love what they do and aspire to learn? Who knew watching a few kids teach me about creating books would get me as pumped as your typical shounen show? Very similar vibes to Dr Stone in that regard. so much fun!!
Natsume Yuujinchou
TV, 2008, 13 eps Me:- Author:8
episodic anime with characters learning lessons and finding peace. Its perfect for a comfy show with stakes that won't keep you up late binge watching but still interesting.
Dr. Stone
TV, 2019, 24 eps Me:- Author:10
Amazing show. Senku is the king of having no room in his brain for romance with all of the science he loves.
Haikyuu!!
TV, 2014, 25 eps Me:- Author:9
Amazing show, everyone has prob watched it already but it's for sure a great comfort show with a lot more energy. I can guarantee you'll be giddy watching the action and invested in the characters.
Kino no Tabi: The Beautiful World - The Animated Series
TV, 2017, 12 eps Me:- Author:8
beautiful show. very calming but at the same time shows darker parts of life in a way that doesn't stress you out. Theres an older version that is equally as good but the animation isn't great.
Wind Breaker
TV, 2024, 13 eps Me:- Author:8
i don't know why a show about kids beating each other up is comforting but it is. It's really sweet and the friendships between the main cast is adorable. some of these fights are therapy sessions fr
(I'm not sure whether any romance will develop, if it does I'll take this one off the list)
Mob Psycho 100
TV, 2016, 12 eps Me:- Author:10
There's a little one-sided crush but nothing more. There are many platonic dynamics to enjoy, lots of comedy and fun action scenes. The mangaka said "I wanted to write something kind" and it shows. It's heartwarming and positive but doesn't omit the difficult parts of the human experience. Mob comes across as neurodivergent as well which may be relatable to some people <3
Itai no wa Iya nanode Bougyoryoku ni Kyokufuri Shitai to Omoimasu.
TV, 2020, 12 eps Me:- Author:6
This one is a fantasy that isn't as well developed as dungeon meshi or frieren. It's not my fav. But it is still cutesy and fun to watch. It's a power fantasy but there isn't any fanservice or romance.
