I really like the stuff leading up to instrumentality and how Shinji takes it on, but I honestly don't like the way it's handled here as much as the original series ending. Legitimately I think people see experimental = smart = good.

Don't really know what people see in the Rebuilds personally, and I think Mari is a godawful character in general. Better than the third one, though that one a lot of people also dislike.

"It's so sad! It made me cry!" I honestly don't know what people were talking about. It's not even like I pretend I don't get emotional, I love emotional shows. I love dialogue heavy shows, and I love character-centric shows. I should like this movie. I don't. I do not care for any of these characters to be quite honest, and the production doesn't feel like a movie, it just feels like the same shit as an episode just elongated.

Absolutely awful ending. Its presentation is great, but the actual conclusion of Violet Evergarden's story is terrible.

I don't really think it's a masterpiece. I don't connect with the characters as much as other people did and that's not necessarily a fault of the show, but still resulted in me not finding as great of an experience with the show. I think the pacing is all over the place at times, and the ending is kinda whatever too.

This movie's writing is dogshit. Sorry. It looks cool, but that's about it.

This is the first part of my favorite anime series. People love to dickride Bake's experimental visuals so much, personally I think while it's creative the best parts of the series was still the writing which is much better later on. This is literally just the introduction.

I'm not saying I don't see why people like this film. However, I think a lot of Ghibli's big hits really just follow a formula where things just happen without much structure. I think the childlike imagination could be done better with more structured writing.

Legitimately just kind of boring after a bit. Asakusa's imagination was cool to see at first, but it just got kinda repetitive. It went from some of the coolest parts of the show to just an indifferent "same soundtrack, sketchy artstyle, let's just get this over with"

It looks better than Your Name. The implications of the plot are just too much to be ignored.

The episodic nature is kinda fine for the most part, but they try to introduce a cast of characters and worldbuilding that is half-assed all over.

I did like it when Bocchi said it's Bocchi time and Bocchi'd all over the place. I don't know if Bocching really resonated that much with everyone. We can't all be Bocchers
