Spoiler
I’m not entirely sure what exactly compelled me to start Eromanga sensei. Perhaps I wanted to know why exactly were people completely shocked about how explicit the show was (when the writer and studio are the exact same as OreImo). Perhaps I wanted to see if OreImo’s writer fixed his craft. Perhaps I just wanted something to rage on. Whatever the case is, it succeeded in delivering on most of my expectations and is easily one of the worst TV anime to air in recent memory.

It’s difficult to discuss Eromanga without discussing OreImo, so I’ll be spoiling major parts of OreImo. Not like any sane person would care, but spoilers ahoy.

Eromanga-sensei is basically the fusion of the worst aspects of OreImo (not like that show was any good, but it at least took time to become complete garbage), combined with the pervertedness and general stupidity of your standard incest doujin/hentai. Unlike most of those, Eromanga-sensei also caters to lolicons, which makes it appeal to the lowest common denominator in basically every single way.

This show’s entire existence is to shove fanservice down the viewer’s throat at literally every single opportunity. The cast largely consists of girls who aren’t even teenagers, but you’d never guess if you saw how shamelessly parades various clothing items…to put it mildly. Sex jokes are in every corner, and while I like my sex jokes as much as the next guy (for…reasons) they’re all tasteless and incredibly unoriginal here.

The story is a rehash of OreImo with sprinkles of other shows in between. Not like that taking influence from other works is necessarily an issue, but this is OreImo we’re talking about. You know, the story that ended literally with a sister and brother getting married and the main character shooting down every girl who likes him to bang his sister. I can give it the smallest of credit since I think it’s actually more honest about its incest shenanigans, unlike OreImo which had the first half of season 1 being wildly different in tone from the rest of the show.

The characters are rehashes of OreImo’s cast with absolutely nothing to make them distinct from their counterparts there. The cast even has characters that feel like a combination of characters from that show, which might have worked out for less intelligent minds if it weren’t for the fact that OreImo’s cast literally walks by and it cements in the mind of the viewer that we’re basically staring at almost the same cast. What I’m trying to say is that these characters are garbage; they act in illogical and ridiculous ways and make fuck all sense.

Animation quality is decent but nothing exceptional, looking almost exactly like OreImo did (Seeing a pattern here?) and the character designs looking the same, with the added benefit of the A-1 Pictures same-face syndrome and even Claris singing the opening…*sigh* This is just season 3 of OreImo, isn’t it?

So Eromanga sensei, is for the lack of a better phrase, complete garbage. It’s the kind of thing I’d recommend to make ISIS members watch to torture them into submission, but I wouldn’t recommend to any remotely ordinary person and is a pile of trash that should be buried in the lowest pits of hell.
