Obviously there are gonna be people who will hate this show and some people who will love it. Personally, I really liked it. One of the things that this show does well is truly show the depth of their characters. You have a group of main characters, Legoshi - a gray wolf, Louis - a red deer, and Haru - a dwarf rabbit. All of them are pretty much complete opposites.
Legoshi is extremely timid, with no self confidence or anything. At first we don't get an explanation for why this is, but over time as the series passes, the show gradually fleshes out
...
his inner conflict between what his natural instincts are and the act he tries to put up to counter that in order to agree with society. This conflict clearly strains on him as a person and the whole point of the first season is him trying to restrain his own tendencies while simultaneously questioning if he should at all. A contradiction like this is so well written that it feels so real - you could change it up a bit and he would be the same as countless other people. Not to mention that his character is relatable, funny (at times), adorable and quite endearing. His VA is phenomenal.
Louis is the perfect guy in this school. Has literally everything, a fan club, beauty, and smarts, what more could you want? His massive ego certainly was hiding something, it was just a matter of time before it was revealed. His flawless image is all we see for some time (and also how hard he works to maintain it), but eventually during a dream, his story is shown through a series of beautiful visuals. Louis feels severely disappointed by his own weakness which appears to stem from his sad past. So you have someone who hates themselves for being weak and someone who's constantly trying to gain power - even resenting anyone who "wastes" their natural power. It's not enough to make me like him, but I appreciate his conflict.
The last character is Haru, and notably the most controversial one. While it is true that she is a slut, the reasoning for it is solid. She was born a tiny rabbit, and in her view everyone either pities or despises weak animals. To some extent this is true, but she's really just scrabbling for excuses to make up for why nobody seems to like her. What probably happened is that she had some bad luck and her mind automatically labeled her as weak. That kind of self loathing is very very hard to get rid of. The next jump from weakness is her realization that the only way to get "equal" with everyone else is through sex. She doesn't realize (or refuses too - because without it, she has nothing to gain equal footing) that equality gained is only temporary and it actually serves to worsen her reputation.
Overall what makes this series exceptional is the combination of superior world building, well developed characters with engaging conflicts, and stunningly creative visuals. There were definitely some plot holes and weird points (the ending, for one) but it's not like they can make a show that will appeal to literally everyone.

this anime is 100% worth it to rewatch + or even analyze more because I probably missed some other things too)
