I love BNHA, but damn, this season was utter garbage.
I don't know if there was a lack of ambition from having worked on this series for so long, but the studio really failed in directing, pacing, and transitioning.
The epic/dramatic/emotional moments totally flopped. I actually went and read the manga (I never read the manga!) for this season, just so I could see how each event should've been portrayed.
The animation and directing is lazy. Flashbacks and still-frames are overused, taking away from what could've been a really cool fight. The studio probably thought each scene would be more impactful if they added an emotional OST coupled
...
with still-frames and slideshows. Nah, I hate to break it to them, but the reason I cried was because of the crap they produced.
Pacing? Pa a a aaaacing? pAACING? What's that? I didn't feel the weekly build-up whatsoever. In fact, I was pretty much itching for all the fights to be over so that we could get into the SoL episodes. I happened to enjoy these fillers far more than the main plot. Who knew that Bakugo playing the drums could heal my battered soul?
I didn't like the character development of Deku or our new mains, Mirio and Eri. This season did a poor job of making me feel for any of these characters.
I'll tell you right now that I couldn't give a flying rat's ass about Mirio or Eri which is a shame because they could've done a good job with these characters.
Don't get me wrong. I think BHNA is a good series, but this season was a huge disappointment.

"aNiMe iSn'T meAnT tO bE rEaL, iT's sO thAt wE cAn eXpeRieNcE sOmEtHinG mOrE aWeSoMe tHaN rEaLitY" - a response to one of my comments about Yowamushi Pedal
[this may contain mild SPOILERS for the first 10 episodes]
I love Sports Animes. I've seen my fair share of them. From Haikyuu to DnA to One Outs, I've been exposed to a variety of MCs. Some of them have godly minds. Some of them have godly skills. Some are badass. Some are earnest.
But what they all have in common is hard work, practice, and specific skillsets. They have flaws. They can't do certain things. Whether it's stamina,
...
technique, or otherwise, they are lacking in some manner. Onoda on the other hand, our MC of Yowamushi Pedal is just...OP in a very infuriating way. Is there anything he can't do?
Never mind the fact that the rest of the cast trained their asses off since the moment they could walk. Never mind that their reason for existing is for the sole purpose of cycling. Never mind that they've cycled countless tournaments and trained years of cycling regimens.
That's right. Our otaku MC Onoda has performed the grueling task of cycling 90 km to Akihabara on a Mommy bike since he was in the 4th grade. Yes, this is no easy feat and likely puts him above your average bike rider. But that's being a bit generous isn't it? For a mostly downhill course, on an average day, you can see he pedals just as casually as you or I would. 90 km isn't so impressive unless you're busting your legs hardcore. It wouldn't put him on par with any experienced cyclist.
But, uhhh, I guess it does. Onoda just pedals like a god. And when that's not enough? He pedals faster! Every character in the anime remarked, "he absorbs things like a sponge!" "he's gotten better in such a short amount of time!" In like, a week?? I'm all for not being nitpicky with anime logic, but this is hard to ignore.
He beats people who live, breathe, eat, and fart competitive cycling. All with his super saiyan pedaling! In fact, I think I'd be more interested if we followed the journeys of the rest of the cast. Save for the MC, I think every other character is awesome. Particularly Naruko. He has charm, kindness, cheek, wit, bravery, genuine skill, and most importantly - something he's weak at.
Onoda's "weakness" is that he's an amateur. But a single suggestion or adjustment on the bike pretty much guarantees that he's going to be on par (or better) than the rest of the party.
I want to see learning. I want to see growth. I want to see struggles and tribulations. I want to see failure. I want to see uncertainty. Then, I want to see him win. For Onoda to succeed and surpass everyone's expectations in the first 10 episodes is a huge turn off.
Granted, I'll give the anime the benefit of the doubt and assume that what I talked about will occur later on in the anime (I stopped after 10 episodes).
But wouldn't that just feel like such strange flow to you? Isn't that unnatural? I thought he was a superstar! What happened that could possibly be a roadblock? Did he meet an otaku who was even more superstar than him? The thing is, when you see how easily he accomplishes things that would otherwise be completely out-of-reach, it's hard to understand why he would encounter adversity later on.
All in all, if you don't care that the underdog is practically on his way to #1 from the get-go, then what I've said above has no merit. The rest of the characters are awesome. I almost decided to push through just for Naruko and Iwaizumi, but Onoda was just too poorly written a character for me to enjoy it, especially since he is the focus.

Includes a naked Furuya and Sawamura playing instruments. If that alone doesn't convince you then I don't know what will.
There's Sassy Haruichi which I LIVE for. I've never loved his passive aggressiveness this much in my life!
You've got the stupid seniors doing stupid things, Miyuki being the only sane one around (and still the cutest!), and Raichi the instrument destroyer. Narumiya Mei makes his grand appearance (that arrogant adorable bastard!) and Coach Kataoka just lets everyone run W I L D.
It's a great time, I assure you. Who cares about baseball??? The Ace of the Band is where it's at.
Suffice to say...this needs an
...
OVA adaptation. Pronto. I'll fund it, I don't care.
...
This is supposed to be a dumb spinoff, okay guys? So don't take it too seriously and you'll enjoy it ;)

Firstly, I found that if you'd really like to enjoy this anime, then put away your magnifying glass and quit scrutinising every last detail. Many disliked this anime because they analyzed the show with a fine toothed comb and didn't sit back to enjoy the show with beautiful animation and good voice-acting.
Despite the 'isekai' power of 'revival' and a couple other plot convenience moments (which let's be honest, plenty of shows have this...but they don't make up for it in other ways like Erased), Erased told a very original story and told it beautifully.
Even though the main character is already an adult, from his
...
experiences, he grows, develops, and matures, and we get to follow along this worthwhile journey.
The first half is definitely a solid ride, the criticism and controversy over this show usually discusses the latter half, but if anything, I was just as hooked and even more so intrigued by the character dynamics, and how everything came together.
If you think about the show critically, you should acknowledge that there is a lot of significance in the psychology of these characters and how they interact, and it was a joy to sit back and think about it afterwards.
So my recommendation? Don't look for plot holes. For starters, there aren't that many, and they don't even cheapen the scene like many plot holes do.
Hope you enjoy!

Grand Blue isn't 'breath-hard-out-your-nose' funny, it's a 'hurt-your-stomach' kind of hilarious. Each of the characters are so unique, and I was just captivated by how their different personalities compliment each other to create the funny setting and tone.
I loved the art. The facial expressions. The goofy plans and misunderstandings. It's not your high school, sit at the desk, go to karoake sort of tripe humor, it's a college setting and you've got some pretty stupid college kids.
I felt like this was a pretty important distinction because it seemed to separate it from your typical school life drama sort of thing and it's just goddamn
...
funny.
There is quite a few running jokes throughout the show, but it never tires, it's funny every time. Each arc is pretty different, and flows nicely. I wouldn't say there were any useless or boring arcs because in general, I was laughing on each episode.
No matter how silly or ridiculous the comedy was, I could always somehow relate. I legitimately thought I was going to shit myself with laughter, and most of the time I was just like "that's a whole ass mood".
Damn, now after writing a review I think I'm gonna need to push back all my "plan-to-watch" animes so that I can re-watch this lmao.

This is not your basic, instant satisfaction, mainstream anime. Looking for fanservice? Fast paced episode stories? Your modern formulaic anime? No? Then this isn't the place to be.
Banana Fish tackles a lot of h e a v y material, with sinister undertones and references. The anime does not shy away from mentions of drug, rape, and creepy pedophilic people. It is dark and somber, but at the same time, it gifts you with beautiful, humorous, and heart-wrenching moments.
The character dynamics are great. I loved the way everyone interacted, whether it be the protaganists or antagonists.
By giving this series
...
a '10', I'm not saying it is without flaws, because nothing is, and honestly it just depends on your taste. It is plot-heavy with dark themes. Plot armor? Barely there. It kept me on the edge of my seat.
The animation is beautiful, I throughly enjoyed the art. The world setting and characters are done well, they are promising, and get good development. It doesn't slow, and most of the situations just make sense. (I had some hair-pulling moments, but it's all part of the package)
What I'm trying to say is, give it a try. Most people shy away because dRUgS!! rAPe!! YAOI (it's not, whoever said that is immature and doesn't know what they're talking about), but this is easily one of my favourites. Hope you enjoy :)

Nowadays I see a lot of people writing off AOT, and I think it's a real shame. AOT has come an incredibly long way, and the way I see it, the next season will be even better.
The first season was all about shock value, gore, and the paaaaaaACING was not consistent. It was still enjoyable. Season 2 and Season 3 introduce many new and intriguing facets and really forces you to think about the brutal realities of war, death, duty, and perseverance.
There's no plot armor, but there is no mindless death. It all feels real. Every single situation is brutal and the choices each
...
character must make is hard, but realistic. Throughout the show, I did not know what I would do should I be placed in those circumstances, and it made me feel for the characters all the more. I could not guess what was coming next, and my mind was constantly in a state of disarray.
Eren might be the main character, but these past two seasons have pulled many other characters to the spotlight and they S H I N E D. It made it seem like everyone had a story, everyone could be the main character.
If you'd like some great visuals accompanied by a humorous but frank review of AOT and its new seasons, then you should watch Gigguk's latest video "Attack on Titan is Incredible Now". I think he does a great job of breaking it down simply and a matter-of-factly.
Give it a go! Don't be a hater just because it's "overrated" and AOT was super hyped. I think that's a very naive viewpoint because I genuinely appreciate how far it has come.
