a series full of excitement and entertainment that could satisfy every viewer by the end is probably not existing in the anime community. even if there is such a show it shouldn't be able to get appreciated by everyone. however, there are some series like NO°6. the kind of show that could pick the interest of many people, and holds many satisfying aspects in different extents. witnessing the absolute conclusion of this exciting story is one of these aspects.
everything sets off with the protagonist and his childhood friends. both of them have a very high IQ and considered among the top tier students of the
...
society. the beginning of the story gives a misleading grasp of the incoming events since all we can see are two kids living in a perfect city that seems to be technology-advanced. but soon enough the entry of the next main character occurred suddenly, at that moment we will witness the birth of the uncommon friendship of shion the genius child and nezumi the fugitive who's running away from the police after escaping prison. and that will last until the very end of the series.
while the two MC's age is similar, around 12 years old, one would definitely wonder if the plot progression will continue with them this way. especially after giving the OP and ED a look we can see the two of them not only looking more mature but also Shion's appearance is completely different, to the point one can doubt if he is really the same person. this will absolutely lead to bewilderment, and thus asking some basic question while seeking for a fitting answer revealing the truth. probably a major event took place resulting in this abrupt change of character design. so did something really happened? fear not, you will not be disappointed simply because right after the first episode the intensity of the events will gradually increase as it will take place outside the flawless city. in the reality.
featuring the humanity's future in a dystopia as a basic setting for the story is not adapted very much in nowadays's anime, yet it is not that scarce either. until the day, i can name at least 5 shows that apply the same kind of future setting, and for some reason whenever i write about them i can't help but wonder the same thing. is mankind's fate really that desperate? literally every single one of them has the same idea about humanity meeting its near end (either as a result of an apocalypse, a world war, human's decline...) maybe because it's more intriguing that way.
the same thing applies to the idea of the ostensibly flawless society hiding deeper dark secrets in it's innermost. however, this kind of situation is always welcome for expressing, after all, it ironically applies in some of our societies, of course in a less revealing way. exhibiting the irregular wasp sickness that seems supernatural no matter how you look at it at the beginning of the story was also a good choice. despite how unbelievable it may seem, the audience has enough time to adapt to it and consider it as a natural plot material. unfortunately, even if NO°6 holds a valuable substance full of bright potentials to give prominence and depth to the cruelness of the dystopian society system in order to maintain order, it completely fails at accomplishing its goal inherently because of the sudden fast pacing and the addition of some half-baked major element at a later point.
shion and nezumi's erratic friendship was quite a surprise to say the least. it slowly goes beyond the typical friendship as they spend more time together until at one point it becomes obvious that it's more than that. with the goodnight kiss, things started to get confusing and making sense at the same time. yes, ladies and gentlemen, it's shounen-ai. personally, i find shounen-ai and yaoi to be disgusting nor can i stand watching that kind of romance. yet, this time for some reason. i didn't mind it. actually, i found it to be beautiful. NO°6 makes you realize that love springing between two guys is not something to be ashamed of. the emotional light kiss they had at the end made me slightly change my mind about this matter. the show doesn't center it's whole attention at this kind of scenes, so people who still insist against it could always turn a blind eye to these rare scenes.
in spite of their actual relation, the two MCs were raised in complete opposite conditions. Shion lived in the NO°6 city, winning various prizes and studying in a school for intelligent students with Safu his childhood friend. one day his life changed after covering nezumi from the police. as a result, he was fired from the noble ward and sent with his mother to the lost city wich is still not a bad place to live in. there he carried on living a normal life for the next four years while nezumi spent it outside the city. Safu and Shion's mother played an important role in the development of the story since they were representing the inside of the society as a whole. it applies on the dogloan and the women-dealer too, although they're only supporting characters, they did there supporting just fine.
with this difference in the environment and culture comes the most interesting part. when Shion will be forced to live outside the city due to some certain turns of event, his annoying idealism will gradually fall apart as he will discover the shocking truth behind his beloved society. at the same time, Nezumi who developed hate for it while running away from his cruel past tries to convince him of the realistic situation he's experiencing and place him in the right lane. thus, many arguments raise between them very often. that is until Shion's tolerance reaches its summit, and his kind and sympathetic character will make a complete 180-degree twist into a yandere mode. it is for you to discover what will happen then.
the inconvenient fast pacing in the end and unreasonable plot twist around the last few episodes was an act that shouldn't be taken by NO°6. honestly, it feels like storyboard writers were immersed into making the story and didn't recall that this is just a one core show consisting of 11 episodes until the 10th one. everything gets warped up in a tremendous speed leaving lots of mysteries behind. needless to mention the addition of the half-baked magic elements in episode 8 as an attempt to cover for its plot holes and wich feels, unlike ergo proxy (the show that NO°6 tries hard to be like and fails to due to various reasons) feels illogical no matter how you look at it. wasn't all of this about science? oh well, it is what it is, i still find the execution of events existing so let's stop complaining.
as for the visuals, the most prominent aspect is the contrast of the color saturation between the neat city and its outside. it's something that needs to be referred to. the dilapidated town presented only by fading colors is nowhere to be compared to the blue sky and captivation green lands inside the city. also, the pretty character design of both the two MCs was well done. white haired characters with red eyes are always welcome. a good job was done in regard to giving in-depth details to the backgrounds, that way they could perfectly fit with the theme of the story. NO°6 seems to have something to do with sunsets and sundowns as it makes use of them whenever it's possible to bring on the romantic mood between our two "friends". and succeed in doing so.
the OSTs were fine, to the extent of average. i can praise it for not ruining the intensity of the events. however nezumi's songs, for me are an indispensable element in the story. including how well of a fine job the voice actor did in regards to Nezumi's character, his singing was also magnificent, it makes me wonder how could a mainly voice like that be able to perform such a good song. forgetting the ending song's performance by Aimer is not an option either, melding her charming voice along with an emotional melody, lyrics and slideshow of Shion and Nezumi assisted in the rise of a genuinely alluring piece i was emotionally related to.
in the end, how is NO°6 execution of events is done? it was pretty bad indeed, however, that doesn't cut down the entertainment and excitement you get while watching. enjoying a story set in a future dystopia and witnessing its complete conclusion would leave most of the audience satisfied with it, and this applies essentially to me. so in short if NO°6 is not for those who can't stand but feel anxious about plot holes nor for those who are against BL. anybody who's fine with this two condition should find the show enjoyable enough.

sakurako-san no ashimoto is an average mystery show that many people find it to be boring. it is adapted from an LN of the same name and aired in 2015 fall along with subete ga F ni naru. these two shows of this season somehow didn't pick the interest of many people, and even if they did, they were immediately dropped after the few pilot episodes. as for the reason Sakurako-san no ashimoto wasn't appreciated that much by the viewers, i personally can't answer this question. simply because i fail to find any noticeable flaw that would drive me to drop it.
the story of SSA
...
has adapted an episodic pattern, where every episode we get to discover new cases along with their background story and solution. the show should be able to exhibit its nature only in the first pilot episode. every day the main protagonist highschooler join up with sakurako the osteologist after a long day of school. they depart for different places (forest, beach..) and dig up every possible corner in search for rare bones. however for some unknown reason, they always end up finding human corps. that's how the mystery cases set off.
while these mysterious aspects may be considered as elementary level compared to other series -the situation is not very complicated if you ask a "detective Conan" fan-, the show hands us all the required information to resolve the case right at the beginning. in other words, anyone would be able to find out the truth only by combining the puzzle piece he was given at the start. but yet, i doubt many viewers were able to do so. not until sakurako enters the scene, divulge all the secrets and finally closes the curtains as if nothing had happened. as a result, the whole event starts to look dull and simple.
the pacing of the series is definetly one of the decisive privileges that makes the one judge if the series is either boring or exciting. the pacing of SSA is very fast. that doesn't mean that it skips some important details. for a better explanation, let's say every episode is divided into two parts. the first part is where the main cast discovers a body or get dragged into the troublesome situation, it barely lasts for 5 to 8 minutes. and throughout this part, sometimes it is possible to deduct what's going on and find out the truth. then comes the second part that lasts for the rest of the episode and surprisingly feels rushed. the events escalate quickly, the situation becomes more intense until finally everything gets wrapped up as a conclusion. personally, i find this quick pacing to be perfect for a show of this nature. while other people may disagree justifying that it doesn't give a chance to the viewer to keep up with what's going on, i say that slowing down would result in the show being boring instead. the ultimate goal of the series is giving prominence to sakurako's intelligence and driving us to admire her while she resolves different mysteries and makes them look as a piece of cake.
despite SSA's fast pacing and episodic nature, there are some stories that take up to two episodes. the mystery is far more complicated and most importantly the sphenoider (I'll be talking about him later) is usually the mastermind behind it. the conclusion of this episodes often saves us some exciting cliff-hangers making the viewer anticipate for more.
leaving the mystery aspect aside, this time, let's talk about what does this show's romance holds for us. a 15 years old high schooler possessing a one-sided love for a women in her middle twenties, sakurako. if i had to count every show i know of that covers this kind of relationship it would be only one (garden of words). that's how rare romance featuring two partners of totally different ages is, especially if the guy is the younger. unfortunately, their relationship didn't develop in the least throughout the whole 12 episode, since apparently, SSA doesn't recognize the so-called "character development" between main characters. shoutarou who likes sakourako, and sakourako who likes bones, nothing will change that much.
speaking of bones, sakurako is an osteologist. it is natural for her to be interested in bones. however, her love for them gradually switches from being a peculiar interest to become a frightening, creepy and unstable fetish. despite her taciturn attitude, charming appearance and intelligence, she got quite a childish character, as an example her mood reverses over meaningless things, throwing tantrums whenever she's angry, needless to mention her love for cake and pudding. and then the poor shoutaro, MC and narrator. compared to her he's the complete opposite, totally normal and kinda mature for his age. the poor guy, he hardly deals with his crush's depraved hobby only to get a chance to spend more time in her side. along with his narration and simple character we always get to observe the events through different perspectives. wich again adds up another reason to not get bored.
now check this: there aren't many side characters in the show. approximately 4 prominent ones. all of them got their own stories, their past was revealed and most essentially we got to see a huge development in some of them. yet no development for the main cast and no considerable development in the plot. what does that mean? the show certainly alluded small details about sakurako's dark secret. in the end of most episodes, after the ending song we could see her talking to herself and blurting some strange lines, or talking to someone in the hospital. honestly, it feels as if she made a contract with a demon, and now she's waiting for her death. but in the end, nothing is revealed. same applies with the sphenoider. he is declared to be a dangerous criminal sakurako is trying to catch, the "abyss". but guess what? nothing happened that deserves mentioning either. indeed, the last episode was spent looking back at shoutaro and sakurako's first reunion, however, it is absolutely not the perfect time to promote such a thing. it feels as if all these 11 episodes were for naught, as if we're back to the zero point, and i personally find it to be a bummer, really unfortunate.
the visuals, in the other hand, are an aspect i can definitely rely on for covering up for the plot's lack of progression. the show's first episode was set in spring, displaying the dazzling scenery of the pink sakura blossoms along with green trees. the exposition of natural scenery in SSA is without a doubt one of its strongest points. especially when the biggest part in the show occurs in such places. surprisingly the bones were also carefully animated. when sakurako starts explaining the victim's characteristic only by examining the remains of the corpse, the bones are not professionally drawn, but at least, it's done with enough details to understand and keep up with what she's saying.
the opening and ending song are certainly entertaining to listen to, but they carry more than just that. sakurako's obscure past wich was not revealed in the end, are also hinted throughout the visuals display. while the OSTs are nothing noteworthy it still succeeds in fitting with the theme of the events, however not very thrilling as they should feel in some particular situation. shoutarou and sakurako's voice were nicely played. especially shootaround's voice. it was a perfect match for his mature character in my opinion.
to conclude it all, let's say that SSA is the slice of life mystery show that lacks romance. getting into it holding these same expectations would make it a very enjoyable watch with no exaggeration, as it did with me. kinda. but if you're looking for something more plot-heavy, a show that knows how to progress a story and how to develop the main characters, then better switch to something else (maybe subete ga f ni naru). you can go ahead and drop it in the first few episode too, while complaining how boring it is. just keep in mind that sakurako-san no ashimoto ni wa shitai ga umatteiru is an anime made for slice of life lovers, as an out-breather from similar melodramatic and school life shows.

every person regardless of it's whereabout should inevitably have experienced a point in its life where it encountered talented people. those types of people who excel in certain fields or sometimes at everything they do. this person definitely felt pathetic and discouraged after comparing itself to them. expressing a little bit of jealousy is unavoidable either. unfortunately, this unfair rule applies evenly on everyone. the talented people always hold an advantageous hand over the normies, that's what the majority thinks. only a few individuals look at it from a perspective that talented people are only specials cases, and when thinking about it thoughtfully one could
...
realize that almost all of the people surrounding his daily life are only normal/untalented beings. receiving this idea from an optimistic side will definitely make you feel better I bet. albeit there are many other ways to get over it. but let's see what did naru, the simple minded "normal" middle school girl, do in this case. did she get over her surge of depression? or maybe she just immersed deeper in it?
hanayamata have an actual story and follows it. unlike most of the moe -cute girls doing cute things' slice of life genre that only set a vague premise and get distracted from it while following the daily life of the girls, hanayama here does not swerve from its lane keeping always track of the mutual goal between the five girls from the cast. but when it comes to the substance of the story, it's far away from being considered as original. having a group of cute girls aiming to get one day above the stage is not uncommon among the anime of the day. Naru's ambition to discover the world hoping to find something to change her is not unfamiliar either but it is still a theme that doesn't get old since everyone passes by it in his life at some point.
what feels refreshing in the story is the feature of exploring one of the countless Japanese cultures. giving prominence to the yosakoi dance theme instead of the prevalent cute idol project was surprisingly more interesting than I thought it would be. honestly something as yosakoi festival, I never heard about it until I started watching hanayamata. it does certainly feel entertaining to learn new things about Japanese culture while watching the cute Appearance of the cast struggling and practicing yosakoi for the upcoming festival. in short hanayamata takes you in a ride around the Japanese related culture, it makes one feels as if his part of the cast. discovering new things alongside hana and naru. it's all too involving and stimulating.
unfortunately, when it comes to the flow of events hanayamata falls into mediocrity. if you're to be a casual watcher, almost all of the turn of events would seem way too expected. many twists that are supposed to startle the viewer and raise the intensity of the situation fall back to be mundane and unstimulating. truth to be told, every time some kind of unpleasant happening occurs I just sigh while not feeling the least surprised instead of being pushed to the edge of my seat and anticipate for more. the execution of the flow of events just can't be helped but feels boring. hanayamata could surely offer a better development than what it is now.
similar to every moe slice of life show, hanayamata consists of 5 stellar main characters. they weren't introduced evenly throughout the series, as we get to see the tsundere sasame yaya in the first episode while machi the student council president doesn't get a full introduction until episode 9. adopting this uncommon pattern is not bad at all. Every time one girl joins the yosakoi club it becomes more exciting for the viewer since things will get livelier. Naru undervaluing herself and her determination to discover new things in the world wasn't an unusual trait when compared to many other shows but as mentioned earlier it's a theme always welcome for expressing. rather only a few initial minutes of the pilot episode were enough to make half of the audience emotionally relate to her as she claimed to be an untalented person and fears to try anything new.
the biggest flaw of hanayamata unfortunately, lies in its character. a tsundere, a strict student president, a mature onee-san, and lastly a blond foreigner loli. with this, it becomes obvious how stereotyped these girls are, they are the type of character you get to see in literally every slice of life show. despite how many erratic and unique characters existing out there wich could be a much better replacement, hanayamata still chooses to go along the cliched route simply because it grants fewer risques. and what adds up even more fuel to the fire is the fact of even after turning a blind eye to the character setting, the problematic situation that occurs throughout the series are nothing exceptional neither. the audience is bound to go through every character's background story and watch those already predicted conflicts that honestly feels nothing but mundane and cliched as they settle up slowly but surely. eventually, at some point falling asleep becomes a more intriguing activity to carry out rather than following this rigid execution of character development.
from a visual perspective, hanayamata is an absolutely gorgeous piece to look at and admire. as expected from Madhouse studio, beautiful sea scenery, fascinating moonlight scenes with sparkling sakura leaves not to mention the totally dazzling scene of the fireworks behind the enormous stage in the last episode. the show does definitely offer some extremely contrived background eye treats. the egg-shaped eyes design of the characters feels a little bit out of place, however one would get immediately used to it. I can go praising the visual works of the show for a long while, but I'll conclude it by mentioning the stunning animation of the last half of the final episode. the sight of the four girls wearing some seriously wonderful kimonos and dancing in the stage of the festival before the captivating entrance of hana made a very delighting spectacle. one of hanayamata's advantageous points without a doubt.
as for the sound part, the OP plays an important role in the whole show, while it is a nice song sang by the 5 girls, it is also the song they choose to play for the festival event. we get to see it evolve from only a lyrics written in a paper to the one we hear at every episode's beginning. the ending and OSTs were not in a considerable point, but not bad either. further than the voice actor's good job in fitting with the character's physics (especially the yosakoi shopkeeper, reminds me every time of Hasegawa for some unknown reason) I guess that's all that needs to be said.
after all of this, I can safely conclude that hanayamata is -cute girls doing cute things- slice of life sub-genres mixed with a little Japanese culture. I wouldn't really recommend it to those who can't stand the moe aspect (my ennemies^^), but if you're looking for a relaxing series after an a long day of work/school then I think this is what you'll need.

humanity has declined, certainly hearing a title like this gives off an engaging feeling. a person would definitely think this series will be different, finally watching a unique show separated from all the generic anime out there. I wouldn't blame anybody who gets this idea only from a title, that is because I myself had the same impression, not to mention my expectation turned out to be right, however not precisely on spot. after all, it's near the impossible that someone would expect the story to encompass time leaps, skinned chickens trying to dominate the world, cute fairies yet frightening with their intelligence and
...
crazy achievements and many many more intriguing activities. but does all of this ruin the show? does it maybe lessen the enjoyment of the viewer by bringing all of this absurd aspects? the answer is an absolute no.
setting a plot very far away in the future was not something of rare, and thinking about it thoughtfully one can notice that the idea of mankind meeting its near end as a result after some unknown reason (apocalypse, angering nature..) is quite prevalent between people. perhaps because it is more exciting that way. however this time rather than bringing some ugly goblin-like creatures bearing intelligence in their mind -referring to Shinseki yori here- jinrui choosed to pick a cute, not fairy-like fairies holding a wide smile in their small faces seeming happy all the time as a replacement for the actual humans. wich makes the series more entertaining and bright.
now, many people affirm and press about the fact that the story holds a deeper meaning, they claim that all of this enjoyable but absurd events have some kind of a philosophical substance about the humans who despite being outnumbered by new intelligence forms of life they're somehow still evolving and trying to succeed. searching for a way to keep on surviving, and the ambitious determination for development is humanity's nature after all. but personally, I don't think that the show focuses on this kind of aspects, rather it doesn't want to reveal anything about this matter. leaving the plot at this cute level of comedy and supernatural aspects is satisfying enough.
another little topic that grasped my attention in jinrui is that they never explained how did the word become like this. ruined cities, new life forms, people back to living in villages. where did all of the technology go? what in the world did happen? throughout the whole series we never got to see an answer to these questions, it wasn't mentioned at all. but it's fine this way. why? because simply it doesn't really matter. all of what the viewer need to know is the current situation of the world in order to enjoy what's coming later. with this, it becomes clear that jinrui is an unserious comedy show about the erratic adventure of a nameless main character often referred to as "Watashi" who plays the role of a mediator between fairies and humans.
the pacing of jinrui is somewhat reversed if compared to normal pacing. it begins with a general introduction of the setting throughout events where skinned chickens are trying to dominate the world, but from then on it starts featuring events in backward. a two episodes head wreaking arc about how Watashi met with the assistant merged with time leaping-related experience. or the last two episodes about the time when Watashi was in her elementary school, this arc had many valuable pieces of information about her, since it exhibits her old personality throughout her past experience in school, it also decreases the comedy aspect and brings more of a gory, psychology-like form of settings. seeing a cute loli turning into a yandere or a mature ojou-sama who is actually a psycho wasn't expected in the least. fortunately, it didn't cross the lines and remained at an appropriate level of cuteness fitting with the show's theme.
Watashi, the pink haired girl who seems to be a very kind and beautiful women could be considered as the rarest tier of MCs. the reason is that despite her suave looks and caring personality, in the inside she's a cynical person who's fond of punchlines and irony. her often use of monologs is what makes her a very intriguing character, fitting with the witty humor and funny theme of the show. she is a character who is interpreted only by her acts, not by fanservice and not by anything else. her hyperactive irony and somewhat negative views to the world is what makes the viewer relate to her and encourages him to continues watching.
without forgetting the fairies of course, the not very fairy-like fairies, more like dwarfs. working by motivation and motivated by eating sweets, these adorable creatures with the cute voice who outnumbered the humans possess an overwhelming amount of intelligence and add another worthwhile aspect to the show, frankly, their enthralling achievements are far beyond possible, as a perfect example there's that one episode where they made a whole nation from scraps, building fascinating monuments, producing electricity out of pineapple, not to mention inventing plants that produce sweets and much other crazy stuff. their unpredictable actions are what makes their existence exiting.
it's a very know fact that the more characters there is in a show the more complicated it becomes, in other words, many characters makes a series engaging. while this is not wrong by no means, it doesn't necessarily mean that the less they are the more apathetic the show will become, and jinrui is a one of the many proofs of this fact. composed only from a few characters it manages to keep the content in a relaxed free from tension mood that never gets less interesting. there's one and only MC, and that is Watashi, supported by the constant presence of fairies she's is more than enough to lead the story alone. of course, other characters like joshi-san or the grandfather could turn out to be necessary for the plot development, but according to the spoiler I read somewhere (because screw it I can't read Japanese, so may as well know the ending) they will play an important role later in the novel.
now from a visual perspective, jinrui is neither bad nor at a considerable point. a bright and colorful animation without focusing much on the details. honestly, the backgrounds seem like it was made for kids. the huge lack of details obviously doesn't try to achieve any kind of realism. the lack of technology brings some amazing green landscapes and art scenery instead. the design is not something spectacular however for me it is fitting with story wich is fair enough.
OSTs don't grasp attention, but they're far away from being bad. unlike the OP that is done with NONO.RIPE band and the ending that consists of both beautiful music and great lyrics matching the plot line.
overall, jinrui is a show that shouldn't be missed by any fantasy fan. it has the perfect elements needed for a half-serious relaxing comedy someone could want after a long day of work. sure it does not answer some important questions but the viewer eventually forgets about them when progressing in the plot.

in my opinion yozakura quartet is one of the most underrated shows of the 2013 fall season, what makes it even worse is the fact it's not very known among many people. just by looking at the members amount down in this website you will understand what i mean -almost 16000 members, compared to a 30k or 40k one can tell it's insignificant-. so as a result after watching this series along with its OVAs i decided to write my thoughts about it.
well then, as many of you may know yozakura's adaptation is manga written by Yasuda, Suzuhito and still on going. before the series
...
started broadcasting in 2013, it already had 3 OAD featuring one of the events that occured in the middle of the story -Yozakura Quartet: Hoshi no Umi-. i wouldn't call it a prequel nor a sequel, but as an advice watching those 3 OAD after episode 8 and then going back to the remaining 9-13 episode would be a perfect way to avoid confusion and progress in a good pace. now going back to the story, Yozakura Quartet: Hana no Uta has quite the familiar plot. humans and youkai living at a town that provide them with what other places doesn't, you probably heard about this kind of setting somewhere -touhou project as an example-. however unlike many of those shows, here human and youkai are co-existing with each other, expecting some bad people who are against this way of life to appear is meaningless. this town is protected by hime the mayor and her group who most of them are 16 years old or less, but we can always turn a blind eye to this matter..at least I could. now, here is something i couldn't let it pass: in the middle of watching the first episode i started doubting wether if it's really the first or just renamed as 01. in other words the story started in a blurry way, that initial narration description that shows what's going on in the series doesn't exist in yozakura, so as result the characters, the stats of the town, all of it is presented throughout the flow of events. and to do that, they made use of the cast by making them ask some blunt basique question they're already supposed to know its aswer represting by that the doubts and uncertainties of the viewer. to be honest i find it to be annoying, i mean sure the confusion of the viewer should be cleared however isn't ther any other way to clear it?
alright, if i was asked what is the main aspect that i liked about yozakura story my answer would be its half-seriousness. the fact that after every huge battle things end up in a good way, the following day everything gets back as if nothing happened. the fact that every antagonist instantlly bacomes one of the supporting cast after he's defeated. or even those punch-lines inside of a battle that should be serious, this kind of aspect makes the best out of the show, everything is joyfull, no one dies...all in all nothing of tragedic happenes. while for some other people that may look as a down side, for me i say this kind of things is not bad every once in a while...if considered as change of pace.
as for the cast of characters, stating that they're unique or first of thier kind would be an exaggeration. at least they're various, the mayor of the town: a 16 years old high school girl and a glutton, her way of wearing a long scarf makes you mistook her as a ninja while she's actually a spear using youkai. there is two glasses bishounens, hiizumi akina the head of the hiizumi family whose hair grow up in a mysterious way when using his tuning power, and of course Ao the cat eared loli with the ability to read minds - one can not simply hate her-. one of the upsides of the characters is their cloths, especially eiji and enjin's. the style of these two is what you'd call badass looking. yozakura also brings another warm theme with it, it is the teamwork/friendship wich personally i didn't stumble upon it for a while until now, those exiting moments where the whole group decides to kick someone's ass and then they proceed to execute an unknown plan that demands time for the viewer to figure out, yet doesn't clear out until the end, - it kinda reminds me of some one piece arcs tbh-
i stated earlier something about half seriousness, getting back to this subject i find it to focus mainly on characters. no matter how much of a bad person someone looks in the end he ends up being an ally of the protagonist casts even if it's only temporary. the same applies with enjin, at the end he decides to stop his series of troubles after helping akina to avoid death, even if it was in an indirect way. another matter that felt out of place again is the way Yuhi Shinatsuhiko is acting, trying to look cool with that pattern of talking and the cigarette in his mouth...sure he is the god of that land but that way of talking duud it's unsupportable! the background of hime, akina and juli were well explained and didn't feel like those blunt questions i mentioned earlier and guess what kyousuke's voice was the same as shizuo from durarara, actually the whole person was similar to him -lifting heavy stuff per example- coincidence? probably that's not the case.
from a visual yozakura did a decent job at in the animation, it's the only aspect i cloud declare as unique. i doubt you will find another series featuring the same animation as this one. there's that one scene where enjin got beaten up by everyone, it had a great view, many effects were used to show how bad he got rekt before disappearing again. the show also had plenty of panty shots....perfectly timed panty shots! especially ao, it was enjoyable to grasp her striped panties every once in while.*cough* i shouldn't be talking about that right? well asides from that all what remains is the lightning effects from behind, they're a little bit rare however they make the scene looks more serious and decent.
the OP and END surprisingly were great, they got the joyful feeling in them. the voice actors were pretty much spot on form most of the characters got nothing to say about that. some of the sound effects like the lightning, or that mysterious blue atmosphere that frequently appear makes you feel a chill running down your spin, calling it an achievement wouldn't be wrong.
humu, in the end thinking of yozakura as a serious magic/supernatural show will only deceive your expectation. however thinking of it a comedy/superpower show where youkai and humans faces conflicts and try to solve them together, so that the following day they would pretend as if nothing happened...i guess that will work. personally i find yozakura to be one of the best shows out of it's kind there's a tiny romance subplot going on with the every day adventure of the team. there's a warm feeling of friendship going on between the characters, everything ends up in good way, no need to struggle that much to figure out some uncertainties, no tragedy no drama, it's the best way to take it easy while watching an adventure show. highly recommended for fellow slice of life lovers.
tsun tsun dere tsun dere tsun tsun.......(you will understand what i mean by that later)

after almost three years of waiting, finally there comes the third season of the unique and heart warming slice of life comedy show. and this time it comes bringing with it a conclusion to the story.
that is to say in other words this is the last season of the anime "working!!!". after all it already adapted the whole manga leaving nothing else to mention. it feels kinda sad doesn't it.
well then, in short, the story is the same as usual. the regular cast of main characters spending their time working in wagnaria. if you already watched the former two season (wich you should have if
...
you're reading this) then there is nothing really worth mentioning as a difference or change.
the only aspect that didn't exist in both first ans second season is the fact of problemes/difficulties settling. yes all the problemes that occured throughout the whole series are now working them self out gradually while progressing in the show.
am not expecting those who didn't watch the prequels yet to understand what i mean by "problemes" so to put it differently it's the kind of troubles that make the series more interesting and funny (misunderstandings, love confessions and such).
as for the slice of life element, as expected it still manages to generate that heart warming feeling, brings a smile to the viewers and sometimes it gets you laughing.
unfortunately every time a misunderstanding is solved it gives a sad impression since it marks one step ahead to the end of the story (at least that's how i feel)
in addition to the common characters cast a few new people started making an appearance in the show, though they don't get that mush screen time, they don't feel out of place either, but rather they are necessary to the plot progression.
some of the side characters also started getting more screen time, taking as an example the former husband of takanashi's big sister or yamada's big brother. in short everyone got his fair amount of screen that he deserves.
considering this is the last season that will conclude the story, you can also clearly notice a huge character development occurring comparing to the prequels wich again, feels kind of sad.
in short, everything will meet a conclusion here.
the animation is not really flashy, however the quality definitely increased, not to mention it did a great job fitting with the theme of the show.
another thing i want to say about the arts, it is about A.1.pictures, it never neglect any character when it comes to animating. you can sense that the design doesn't drop that much quality whenever they're in the background wich Indicates how rich this adaptation is.
the OP and END consist of the same vocals and also maintain the unique atmosphere of the music. BGM is nice....nothing interesting to mention besides of yamada's cute voice.
am not able to pick many negative points/thoughts about this season. maybe it's because i am a big fan of the series or because the show doesn't have mush weak points to begin with, but either way am trying to maintain an objective view as much as possible.
as a whole working succeeded to keep it's usual pace. it doesn't feel boring at all, in the contrary it is very very enjoyable.
i didn't watch the last episode yet, so am also waiting to see the way they will conclude the story, but am pretty sure it's going to be a satisfying ending. as a slice of life fan am proud to be an early fan of working and i think it deserves to be spared some of your time.

before i start talking about the story i need to clear out something: out of my own experience am sure most of you guys will get the wrong idea of the show when you'll see the anime's cover up there. because the first impression i got of the show when i saw it was another romcom harem that will end up as every harem series. not like it's not true but, there's still a genres tag missing that makes the anime more entertaining. and it is the Supernatural tag.
as most of you may know, the story is set in a prestigious high school academy with
...
over 50000 students. and out of all this huge number, it follows our first main protagonist Kakei Kyoutarou a loner who enjoys reading books as his favorite passion.
however, he has a supernatural ability that lets him see the future of some people around him, and also that dragged him out of his peaceful book reading life.
the nice aspect about the story here is the mystery theme that follows the events of his daily harem life, since our 6 club members get some weird mails from someone called a shepherd, mentioning something about their fate and life.
while getting into the story this shepherd secret will have a big impact in kakei's life, or rather his "fate" and that will make stuff a little bet complicated since it has a relation with his past self.
now the one and only thing that didn't look right to me was rushing the events and especially in the last episode where everything will get settled down in the last minute rather than the whole episode. but the ending coveres this matter.
(i'm trying as hard as i could not to split any spoiler while writing~~)
now to the art and animation. i would like to say the art is unique but the only thing that makes it looks special is the different eyelashes color, and also that beautiful eyes design. as for the character design matter, it doesn't really stand out, most of them resembles some other ones in different series (at least for me) but it is still well done though....and cute. there are some little details that bothered me while watching the show too, like that over brightness in the whole scenes, everything is too bright! or the background drawing that looks kinda old, it just doesn't match with the characters. but i guess all that is because the animation it self was not made to be realistic. it will be nice if it did~~
for the characters part, it was deceiving. when expecting some different turns of events that will make the show stands out of his harem genre, in the end it's always the same way. 5 or 6 girls of differents types surrounding the main protagonist, who can't make a goddamn decision and choose one heroine. and of course his one and only unpopular friend who helps in bringing the comedy mood. yeah, it's just you're cliche sets of characters that lack development. the worst is it felt like the whole 12 episode were forming a circle because everything in the end got back to the way it was from the beginning, in other word."initialization"
of course it's not only about bad things. there's also that interesting change in the protagonist throughout the series, while trying to choose between his old loner self that only looks for peace, and someone who sacrifices himself to save people and guarantee their happiness. and the reason behind this change has a relation with the shepherd and magic thing again (no spoil desu) and also because of his new friends that changed the world around him.
anyhow, the characters aspect was good enough for a series like this. it had some surprising plot twist sometimes (discovering his sister was....) and didn't ruin the show at all. it was just ....normal.
to be honest, the main reason i choose to watch Daitoshokan no Hitsujikai was because of kakei voice actor. did anyone watch "is this a zombie" ? if yea then remember the voice of aikawa ayumu, he is the same as this one.
the BGM was nice and fitting, but not to the point that ill download it and listen to it, it's not memorable after all. it felt the same way as the visual novel adaptation. same for the OP and END.
when looking back at the whole show with his different aspect it surprises me that it's the least popular one in it's season not to mention the score it was given in myanimelist 7.08. it's kinda disappointing since it deserves more than this. personally i didn't expect a romcom harem show to be this enjoyable at all, even though the adaptation was a little bit faster than it should compared to the visual novel. but yea, adapting 5 different route in 12 episodes is not that easy.
overall i recommend Daitoshokan no Hitsujikai to any romcom harem fan as it feature different aspects in a limited number of episodes.
to end up this review am giving it a score of 7.8 out of 10.
story 8- animation and arts 8 - sounds 7 -character -7 enjoyment 9.
(this is the first time am posting an anime review^^ so i hope helped some of you make a decision after reading this)

this could be considered as the most hilarious/unique manga of all time.
imagine with me.........when you become an adult, your life is boring, your family doesn't like you, your wife is ugly....and to top it of you still have only 3 months to life because of a stomach cancer....but one day you wake up and you find out that you became a machine ( jetpack - invincible - your life is not in danger anymore....)...yeah i don't know what you would do in a case like this, but this manga manages to answer this stupid fantasy question:
Inu Yashiki is an 50 years old but looks like
...
an old geezer, he already have backache, he have a wife, too kids, and passing with the same situation i mentioned before. of course he is the MC for this story. after realizing that he's life is at the border in the same night he is already killed in a crash landing of aliens (you probably didn't expect that). next moring, he wakes up not realising he's already dead, but soon after the accident he discovers that he was rebuilded by those aliens and now he became a machine.
here is a little idea about how strong he got.....you can say he is far more stronger than the terminator ^^.
so how will his life change now that he is a machine?
ok then, the arts here are the kind of realistic and suited for everyone arts. the characters are not that beautiful.. actually they get really ugly sometimes, so it's clear that the manga here tries to approach he's drawing to reality. i personally like this kind of style since it does a great job at emulating human facial.
charcters:
this is where the manga really shines, while the drawing try to approach the reality from one side, the characters do the same from another side. you got your main protagonist geezer who is very emotional hate violence and does his best to erase it.
the normal reaction.....or should i say, the real reaction of his kids to their old father, it almost brings me to tears in the 2 first chapters.....wait right now you're thinking about whether there is an antagonist with the same power or not...well yes there is one. Hiroshi Shishigami is high schooler with the same superpower became a serial killer rather than been a hero like our MC.
this is not a comedy manga but still there are some scenes that don't give you a choice other than laughing so hard especially those double pages scenes where an old men is beating up a other people, a gang , or even yakuza!
overall i enjoyed reading Inu Yashiki, it was a quick read since there's only 29 chapter and still on going but hey you don't see a manag with an old man beating up people with a super machine fist right ?
story: 8
art: 9
characters: 9
enjoyment: 9
aaaand an overall of 9/10 year! definitely recommended to everyone for a change of pace :)
