I watch most anime subbed, but I've occasionally watched anime raw. Sasurai-Kun and Webdivers I watched raw, and a few others I can't think of right now. I'm decent enough at understanding Japanese to where I can understand basic conversations, and in more complex dialogue I can infer context through what's happening and with certain keywords I pick up on. I assume you're referring to Oishinbo, but I actually watched that one with subtitles. Back in 2020 it had a Youtube re-run with English subs. I watched it with my Mum lol.
