Shigurui

Although the two stories are highly dissimilar - Shigurui being set in the 1600s and focusing on the nitty gritty of Samurai culture at that time and Texhnolyze a dystopian cyberpunk series centered around the idea of human evolution as expressed through robotics - they are very stylistically similar. They are both directed by Hiroshi Hamasaki, who is better known for directing Steins;Gate. This connection between the two series in question is evident in the washed out, more realistic art style and gory elements, the stellar voice acting and minimalistic but highly effective use of sound and soundtrack.

It would be impossible for me to elaborate on the core similarity between these shows without giving everything away, so all I can really say is that despite being totally dissimilar in almost all other respects, the premise that everything hinges on is essentially the same in both.

Ping Pong the Animation

Both anime are based on manga written by the same mangaka, and this similarity is noticeable in the unique character design and spectacular, fluid animation. Not only that, both focus on two main characters that are childhood friends that, despite being very different, are deeply important to eachother/balance one another out significantly. Both anime also carry similar messages about hope and friendship. Besides these things, these anime are also dissimilar in many respects: Ping Pong is a sports anime that has incredible depth through its use of character study, and Tekkon Kinkreet focuses on stray children and a power struggle within both their socio-political setting and their minds. However, somehow, these anime still follow notably parallel paths.

Kiseijuu: Sei no Kakuritsu

Both feature a male teenage protagonist who starts out as something of a wimp becoming "half-human-half-other" against their will. Both protagonists recognize that they are "the bridge between two species". Both feature something of a power struggle between humans and creatures that prey on humans and are far superior in terms of strength and natural defense mechanisms. Both feature dialogue/internal communication between the 'human half' and 'monster half'. Both feature creatures that look mostly human until they fling their sharp, freaky tentacles all over the place. Kiseijuu is the superior anime in my opinion.
