What can I say...anime is my thing. I liked anime before I even knew what anime was. When I was in elementary school, I saw both Unico movies. I really liked them and watched them over and over without really understanding what was so fascinating about them.
A friend of mine introduced me to Fist of the North Star and Ninja Scroll. That is what I thought anime was: Over the top action and violence. So, Dragon Ball Z was a natural fit for me. Later, I realized that this was not all anime was about. I just happened to see Saber Marionette J Again while going to Georgia Tech for my engineering degree. That changed my perception and opened me up to other genres.
Now, I like it all. Romance, Comedy, Action, and Drama are all fun to watch. As long as the characters are good and the story is engaging, I like it. If I become emotionally attached to the characters, then I move it up to the highest ranks. I prefer to be moved by what I am watching and only anime seems to fill that void for me. American TV and movies just don't pull me in like anime does.
Most people just don't get it and will never know what it is they are missing. I am glad to have stumbled upon what would be my entertainment destiny.
