I found the action and intensity overall better, and as a result I enjoyed it more. However, the characterization was better in part 1. We actually saw how Dio became an enemy, while the pillar men are just...the pillar men. Although we did get more insight on them in the final episode, it was kind of too late to really care.
In Battle Tendency, though, there's one small thing that really bugged me: lack of anyone but JoJo. In particular is when Lisa Lisa fights Cars, gets beaten immediately, and is changed from the only tough female character in the show to damsel in distress. That really left a bad taste in my mouth.
I figured it was the end, haha. I described the show to my brother as "Dragonball Z on crack" because it has similar action but just gets ridiculous with all the techniques and Dio's immortality. Not that I had a problem with any of that. It was at first on route to be my favorite of the season, and while I can't say it is now, it's still near the top.
To be completely honest, I've needed something like this lately. Been watching too many dramas. I was overdue for a fast-paced, manly, high-testosterone action series.
I'll have to do that. A friend of mine IRL used to tell me some of his quotations back in the day actually. It's funny how what a person who is labeled a musclehead is actually a pretty intelligent dude deep down.
Hmm, really? May be the colorful trailer and Joestar's ridiculous voice affected my judgment. The young Joestar is sure naive but his voice makes him sound like main char of a generic harem anime and I still prefer the art in the old JoJo's Bizarre Adventure over this.
Ahhh Bruce Lee. I used to be a much bigger fan of him as a kid. Used to love watching all those fighting movies. Probably the best fighter/actor in history.
