One word: Hype.

Before watching this show, i was amazed by it's high scores, big fanbase and critics puting it to a pedestal. I had high expectations and was going into it thinking it would be the second time Jesus would step on earth. But as always, there's nothing worse, than diving into the hype.

What else should i say? Steins;Gate has everything a mass consumer needs:a concept about time travel, sci-fi theme coupled with unique characters and....a poorly written story. How did something like this went wrong? I can't imagine, since the production values were high enough to hire a good writer. Not only ... the first half of the show, specifically the first 12 episodes do absolutely nothing, and i mean NOTHING. They are painfully boring, painfully slow, painfully killing every good aspect the show initially put into it. After that it gets better, but i didn't have the desire to watch it, because if half of the show is shitty, there's just no helping it. But i still forced myself through the agony. And.... it still didn't pay off in the end.

Now about the characters, they all seem out of this world. I mean an 18 year old guy invents a time machine? Or an 18 year old girl writtes scientific articles, is a research member and somehow she surpasses her own father? and a few other characters also seem unrealistic. The only real character is maybe the owner of the office where the cast was spending most of their time.

Only the art is good, but even then, the setting is very strange, the sun is somehow to yellowish, i don't know, some colors where too bright.


Overall, i didn't enjoy Steins;Gate as i would have expected. It represents very well the hype that never justifies itself and that Steins;Gate is a second class, no, a third-class show. It is slow, dull and weak.

Monster is a series that sets a very big standard for mystery anime. It was written by Naoki Urasawa and many praise it as the better Death note. I had the pleasure of watching this anime and here are my thoughts.


Monster is all about atmosphere and how it reaches to the viewer. Note, i did not read the source material, the manga, so i can't comment how better it is compared to it, but let's just say it is very good. Honestly, before watching Monster, i had a completly different expectation. I thought it would rely on difficult choises and their outcomes, like how the ... main character, Kenzo Tenma, would sacrifice one thing for another and that eventually would make him a ''Monster''. That is not the case, although the first episodes kinda show that, but let's not spoil. So the premise is simple, Kenzo Tenma is a surgeon, a very skilled one, who wants to become the head physician of a hospital. He soon enters a dilemma where he either needs to save a rich man which will ensure his future or sacrifice everything, but save a poor kid that was shot right in the head. Kenzo makes a crucial decision and saves the kid, from where the rise of a Monster begins.

Now here is the main flaw with Monster's story. When i first read the description, i saw that it has 74 episodes. Now, don't get me wrong, i can easily watch a 100 episode series, if it is not boring. Monster doesn't deserve to be called boring and it actually isn't. It's just that it has a lot of fillers that don't add anything new and are more of the same. For example, the first 10 episodes are outstanding. They focus on the main character and actually move the story. After that, the series chooses to introduce a bunch of characters and for the majority of episodes, it focuses on them rather on the main character, Kenzo Tenma. This just stagnates the further story development for atleast 5 episodes, then it gets back to Tenma, then again centers for another 5 episodes to someone else and so on. If it would only center around Kenzo Tenma and his road, not only this would create more questions and make the series more interesting, it would also be like 30 episodes long.

But even with it's flaw, i still can't give Monster a lower score than 10, because there are almost no similarities. Monster is a rare type of anime and if not perfect, it still manages to keep your attention.

What a mess. I was recommended through MAL to watch this show. From now one i'll just stare at user scors because they frequently reflect the truth whatsoever.

Not being aware of Satoshi Kon work, after wathing PA i can honestly say he has some ideas, its just the execution is bad, i mean really bad. The story is very simple, i mean it can't even make justice to mystery/psychological genre. It basically is about mental issues that occures in many characters during the show. It really goes great for the first 4 episodes, however after it takes a 360 degree turn and becomes a completly ... different show. This is probably one of the reason why this show didn't make it for me. I was expecting something different, but well, nevermind.

The art is old, from 2004, so expect poor quality. The sound is decent, i don't know what to say else.

The characters are reliable, however not charismatic or interesting enough that you'll remember them. Tsukiko Sagi is a girl with mental issues and without spoiling too much she gets attacked by the antagonist of the show, Shounen Bat. Its up to 2 detective, Keiichi Ikari and Mitsuhiro Maniwa to investigate this case.

To end this review, Paranoia Agent is a mess. It has ideas with poor execution and a story that can be put into a 2 hours movie and nothing would have changed. It doesn't even build itself in what it was supposed to be. And that ending, that summs the plot in 10 minutes is just pathetic, making the whole 13 episode time meaningless.

If you finished GTO and want more of the same, watch Gokusen. The anime is set in the same kind of setting and it is way shorter, though it has its flaws, which i'll try to express below.

The story is similar to GTO, it has a main character, Kumiko Yamaguchi, who is a gang leader and tries to become a teacher. It follows her relationships with her students and eventually gets them from trouble. Where it actually fails, is that the first half of the anime she is hiding her real identity of being a gang leader and thus half of the series is centered ... on her character, rather then the school setting. It wouldn't be a great deal, if it wasn't so badly executed, in which rarely happens something interestingly.

The art is something i really don't get. GTO, which came out in 1999 has a better facial animation than Gokusen in 2004. The faces are bland and just aren't anything special and it is very strange, considering Madhouse did Monster the same year, which is a lot better. And for a 2004 anime, it feels more like a 90s, i really don't understand why the creators took that road.

The sound probably is the only thing better in this anime, namely the opening theme, it is awesome and has a feel that the anime is going to kick ass. Unfortunately, no, it doesn't kick ass.

The characters are all bland, apart from the dog, Fuji, funny and surprisingly charismatic. Other than that, not even the main characer has something to hold you more to the anime. She actually is quite boring to be with.

Overall, this is a good anime that probably will find its viewer. What it is seriously lacking is a damn style. I think everyone agrees that GTO has a damn cool style and feel to it. The anime Gokusen, or should i better say the manga, is actually copying some events from GTO, like the Okinawa trip. Its heavily inspired by GTO, but does nothing as well as GTO did. Thats the main flaw which separates the amazing GTO from a good anime Gokusen.

A freakin' hilarious series, that i only wish lasted longer. Damn, the creators seriously must be on something, or else how do you explain so much creativity in between character relations, that were just PRICELESS.

The story starts about Oga, a badass in school who finds a child, that turns out to be a devil. From there he must become as powerful as he can with the help of his adopted son Beelzebub to destroy all human specie. Without too much spoiling, the story is ok for the most part and its really great that all the characters are connected through episodes. Apart from that, ... this is not the reason to watch it, but can be interesting to those shounen fans.

The art for the most parts is good and is amazing at showing characters funny situations and i was never turned off by its overall design.

The sound is great, especially the very first opening theme, DaDaDa, sets the vibe for the shit that'll be going.

The characters. Ah, where do i even begin with?
The best character easily goes to Furuichi, if it wasn't for this character i swear half of the comedy wouldn't be there. He is pretty much 50% of the comedy. He is insanely perverted, like dreaming of getting laid with every cute girl he sees on the road. And its even more funny, when he, for example in the last episodes meets a ghost girl and dates her everyday without eating and washing himself only to find out he was possessed by another ghost, a male, which was the one the girl was speaking with the whole time Furuichi was dating her. In the actual anime its so well portraited, you just can't stop laughing.
The next best character is Alaindelon. His dividing power is cracking me up everytime he gets to Furuichi. Id say that their duo, Furuichi and Alaindelon is the best one in the whole series.
Himekawa and Kanzaki are the second best duo. Its hard to tell why without spoiling, but they fight constantly over nothing and this creates some epicly funny moments in the series, just watch it for yourself.
The last best character is without a doubt the badass Toujou and king of Touhoushinki. This character is especially hilarious in that everytime he gets on the screen, he somehow manages to have a new job. In an episode he is a construction worker, than a food vendor, then playing a knight in a circus. And is as powerful as a brick thrown in your face, even Oga didn't defeat him the first time.

These were the best in my opinion. From there you still have Oga, Kunieda, Hilda, Izuma and so on.

Overall, this is a big surprise, i was getting into this anime with the sense of it being a 6 out of 10 anime, i was wrong, this gets a 9 out of 10. The story did a little kill the overall impression, since it develops till 48 episode. Starting with 49 episode till 56 its just fillers, although great and funny. And the ending is rushed, only 3 episodes to develop a battle that last 15 minutes. Yep, thats a shame, since we were watching the characters to grow only for this?! Nonetheless, the comedy is there and i highly recommend checking it out if you're a comedy fan, trust me its worth a watch.

Once again we are encountering a great anime. Kids on the slope is another combo between Shinichiro Watanabe and Yoko Kanno. I can't imagine now if someone else did a screen version of Kids on the slope. But lets get to the point.

The story focuses around Kaoru, who is your normal geek, straight up alone and unexperienced when it comes to real life. He loves studying and playing on instruments. Because of that he apparently can't fight and stand by himself, and this is where another character is introduced to help Kaoru. Sentarou on the other hand is your typical badass character, who doesn't give ... a shit about studying and can stand by himself. Both of them become friends and this is where things get interesting. For the whole 12 episodes we are watching how these two are growing on their friendship and how they deal with their problems. Kaoru is in love with Ritsuko, but Ritsuko isn't. She loves Sentarou. Yes, it creates a love triangle, but its so well done you won't be dissapointed.


The art of this anime is just amazing, not only its crispy looking, but the ACTUAL MOVES of the characters when it comes to playing drums and piano is animated. Yes, you can learn from it if you pay enough attention.

The sound doesn't need introduction, cmon guys its Yoko Kanno and the famous piece they play at the end of the anime is called Moanin, a jazz classic.

The characters are alive and never feel undeveloped or unoriginal. Every character is likeable and differ one from another, which doesn't make this series boring to watch.

Overall, this a great addition to anyones list and should be seen imediately. I enjoyed it and wanted more, srsly. If it wasn't for shows like this, i wouldn't even watch anime in the first place.

Mediocrity at best. While it could've been a promising anime, in reality its another anime that doesn't know what it really wants to show and if does something, its usually bad executed.

The story is nothing special, or why would i give it a 5? You know when there are so many ways to make an interesting plot, anime such as this only put it simple from the very first episode and theres no further developing.

The Art. Well, i don't see anything awe inspiring, moving on.

The Sound is forgettable and as mediocre as this anime in general. Can't remember a single track.

Characters. Now this ... is where it is going very dull. Main character is your average Joe that wants to spend his high school days with a girl and thats his only motive. No back story, no charisma whatsoever. The girl, Ritsu, is never developed fully and is just an unlikeable character. The crazy guy Shirosaki is just driving nuts considering he is plain stupid.

While the romantic aspect of this anime could be called a relationship, the comedy aspect however is not there. Simply put, the humor is missing. I didn't laugh a single time, not because i don't like comedy, but because this anime and such try to much to inlcude an uninspired humor that only mentally ill people would appreciate.


Bokura wa Minna Kawaisou is one of the millions upon millions of average shows that hide the real treasures of anime.

If you're searching for a great slice of life, then you're in the right place. Welcome to the NHK is a big delicious ice cream when it comes to showing everyday tasks of an adult being sociophobic. The main character, Sato is a 22 year old young man who wasn't prepared for growing up and becoming self independent. The series shows him struggling with himself and how he is brought up back by Misaki, a girl who signs a contract with Sato to help him overcome sociophobia.

The Story is life sucking. I marathoned this series in 3 days, just because i was so interested ... to see what Sato is gonna face up next. Its about things we encounter a lot these days, like suicide. But without spoiling, i'll say that its very relatable for some.

The Art is not so pleasing however. Some might hate it, but i was so interested in the story, that the art played a very tiny role for me.

The Sound on the other hand is just perfectly placed. It was fitting in every moment when Sato was feeling lost or alone.

The Character of Yamazaki, Sato's neighbor, was very funny, i believe he is the one that could cause this anime be considered in a way a comedy, but in fact its far from that. Misaki is Sato's dream girl, but they never actually get to be together unfortunately.

Overall this is slice of life in its best way possible. I enjoyed the hell out of Sato's life and this is an important anime to me because i have made some important life lessons since then.

This is the quintessential anime. Yes, you heard it. The perfection in every way.
A one time in a lifespan journey. A diamond in the anime world. A chest full of gold buried in a very deep hole that everyone forgot about. This is Cowboy Bebop.

By the year of 2014, many people would rather watch One Piece or SAO or whatever they watch thats new, instead of watching Cowboy Bebop since its outdated to say the least. It doesn't have a sharp animation and the drawing is no way near what it is today. Well, if you think like this, then fuck you. You don't deserve ... to experience what this masterpiece has to offer. The other ones who can get past its look, be sure that the reward is higher than that.

Cowboy Bebop doesn't follow a typical story, which only adds to its uniqueness. Its episodic and that means every episode = a new story to be told in this MASSIVE universe. Its strange how no one wants to do another series in this universe, not following the past characters. But i can understand that, because no one will repeat the succes of what Shinichiro Watanabe and Yoko Kanno did. Nonetheless, every episode is interesting and i wasn't bored a single time.

The Art is amazing, but i can see that someone will not like it. Well, good then. The future is still very believable and i'd rather have this future than Star Wars and such.

The Sound is as good as it gets. Seriously. No other anime has what CB has packed in 4 discs i believe. The Jazz... enough words.

The Characters deserve a special spot in my soul. I will always remember the charming Spike, experienced Jet, lost Faye and crazy Ed.

This is without a question, the best anime out there. Go watch it right now. You can thank me later.

There's really nothing like this. And when i say that, you can be 100% sure. If you're an anime fan, it's a crime and a shame if you didn't watch Rainbow: nisha rokubou no shichinin. This anime is what everyone should look when they start watching TV series.

The story is absolutely amazing from the beginning to the end. Really nothing to bitch about, i didn't notice any flaws. It's very well executed and gives a bunch of emotions.

The Art is also very good, the 1950s are represented the way they should be, nothing less. I was like teleported to those years, the ... atmosphere was so believable.

The Sound is a big thanks to Madhouse. The opening has one of the most memorables songs in any anime. And just the music in anime is only a plus to the existing atmosphere.

The Characters are likeable from the first episode and really set in the mind of the viewer that this is gonna be a great journey. Every character is dealing with his own personality and has his episodes. Thats what creates this show, the thing that it focuses on more characters that follow the same route.

Overall this is what i can call AN ANIME. A true work of art and i give all my respect to the original writer and Madhouse for executing the series so well.
