I will say, I really liked 3.0+1.0. I really hate Evangelion, the original series and the rebuilds minus this and 2.0. But 3.0+1.0 was really good, and the EVA writing team finally fully woke up.
First of all I love how more understanding and compassionate all the characters are. Asuka seems more friendly and caring in the rebuilds than the original series, which I think allows Shinji to care for her more. Rei seems more personable and seems to have more life in her than the original series, and Shinji seems more positive and accepting than the original series. I love the butterfly effect that some
...
of these changes made, from the slightly altered personalities of the characters to even new characters like Mari, who I feel even though wasn't a major character, her cheerful personality made the rebuild series more uplifting and cheerful and the end and because of that is as integral to this timeline as any of the other characters. I think her cheerful attitude was genuine, as opposed to the obnoxiously fake cheerfulness that Asuka had in the original series, which was because of her sadness and loneliness. I also like how Misato was more of a mother to Shinji in this one than the original series, which I think is represented with the photo of Shinji and her actual child, named after Kaji.
The feelings that Shinji goes through in this feels more justified, although I still do think it goes on for way too long.
I loved Rei finding herself, working in the village, and making new friends until she dies, which actually made me quite sad, as in the original series I didn't care about her that much.
I also love that Evangelion 3.0+1.0 does what many people claim the original series did: subtly hint at what is really going on. The original series and EOE did not do this. Rebuild does and things that Kowaru says make it seem like he's been through all of this before. The flashback with Asuka and Gendo saying that he has offered Shinji a new world also supports this.
Ok some bad things are that I think the whole "Asuka is a clone" thing is complete bullshit and I don't understand why it is a thing.
Another bad thing is the ending. For some reason Evangelion can never do an ending without fucking with your mind. It is extremely confusing. We go through Gendo and Shinji talking then Gendo takes the spear and thats that. But then you have Kaworu, and once he disappears we don't know where, same thing with Asuka and Rei, both of whom are apparently somewhere else.
Then for some reason Mari cares about Shinji (which they have been making a thing for a while for some reason) and travels to his new place to find him???
Then Shinji rewrites the world so that EVAs never existed and I guess that become the world we currently live in, except this raises way too many new questions. Does anyone remember the events before the rewrite? Do any of them still know each other? Why is Shinji with Mari? Why is Kaworu with Rei? If they don't remember the events, why does the collar on Shinji still exist and how is Mari able to take it off? Are Rei, Asuka, and Kaworu really in this new universe or are they copies of the other ones? Did the other ones go to their own universe with their ideal living? Is Mari actually a clone of the one girl who introduces Gendo to Yui who for some reason Fuyutsuki knows, so is she a clone?
Questions like these that go unanswered, which is a common theme. Also WHAT THE FUCK IS AN IMAGINARY LILLITH.
This series is so fucking confusing for no goddamn reason, for some reason they don't like to make things straightforward.
But hey in the end they got their happy ending so that's cool.
What never changes about Evangelion, whether in the original series or the rebuilds however is that Kaji will forever be a GOAT.

"What would a RWBY filler look like?" said no one ever, as the thought of writing something worse than the mediocrity of the original RWBY series is insane. They should have made this anime a team JNPR spinoff, as JNPR is actually entertaining, but I'll rant about that in a bit. Man I was so ready to get back into RWBY and give it another chance, and once I did, I was extremely disappointed. As a former RWBY fan, I was really excited when I found out RWBY was getting an anime, replacing that 3rd grade project animation of the original RWBY series for actually
...
good animation (no hate to 3D animation, there are a ton of good 3D anime, RWBY is just not one of them). I actually really liked the first 3 episodes, as it followed the first season of RWBY. I'll say it, the first 3 seasons of RWBY were actually decent, if not good. Honestly I wouldn't have minded a remake of the first RWBY season in anime form, and up until the 4th episode, I was really interested in RWBY Ice Queendom. But then I realized, "WAIT A MINUTE THIS IS JUST FILLER THAT TAKES PLACE RANDOMLY IN THE FIRST SEASON" and I swear, it is the most boring shit I have ever seen. The only reason I made it to the final episode of this series was when Jaune joined them when saving Weiss, because LITERALLY ANYONE FROM TEAM JNPR IS MORE INTERESTING THAN ANY OF THE TEAM RWBY MEMBERS AND I WILL DIE ON THIS HILL. It takes place in what is basically a fever dream with them infiltrating the dream MULTIPLE TIMES only to fail. It is the most jarring and boring piece of work that the RWBY team has released. Id rather be forced to watch every season of the original RWBY than watch this crap again. I will say however, the animation was good. At least, for the first 3 episodes and the last 2, because thats where all of its budget went. Other than those 5 episodes, the rest seem like the RWBY/Roosterteeth animators did the animation in the fight scenes because they kinda suck. The first 3 episodes and last 2 are AMAZING with their fight scenes and shows what this anime could have been. Its a shame really. I've said this since the start and since the start of original RWBY, but they really should have made team JNPR the main characters, because team RWBY are all so goddamn boring. JNPR are interesting and I was way more interested in the Jaune and Pyrrha plot in the original RWBY than I was with team RWBY themselves. Also they didn't show the best character, Qrow so fuck this anime.

The main characters revive ability is never really explained, which I find a bit strange. I also always hate it when the protag travels through time or some shit but never tells anyone he did it (tbf I understand why he and most anime protags dont, they would sound fucking insane). I feel like the last few episodes after Kayo were kinda rushed, but didn't completely ruin the show for me, but I also kind of do hate it how it feels like they are trying to make Kayo's mother more sympathetic, even though she is a despicable human being. I also hate how Kayo
...
just kind of disappears after the first 8 episodes, because I was really invested in her and the MC's relationship. What I really hate is the last 2 episodes, or in other words, the ending. I REALLY hate this ending. First off, I HATE timeskips. Timeskips are the laziest plot device and it adds so much more problems into shows. I was really invested into the show and there was so much momentum and tension that just got reset because of the timeskip. I always think that timeskips should only be at the beginning or the very end of a show, this is more of the middle (even if its the last two episodes), it time skips at the climax. I also hate Yashiro's motivations as a villain, but it doesn't bother me too much. One thing I REALLY FUCKING HATED in the show was how Kayo and Satoru's relationship was handled near the end of the show. We were so invested in their relationship throughout the story and how they became friends, but in the end she ended up with the femboy with who we knew barely anything about and they had a child. I get what the story is going for, that people move on, but damn did they do it poorly. Maybe if Kayo and the femboy kid had a relationship throughout the show it would be good, but after pushing Satoru and Kayo together, building up everyone's emotional investment just to ruin it, that fucking sucks. They could have made her stay single or at least show us the relationship with her and the femboy kid progressing. It wouldnt be too farfetched considering there is literal time travel. The ending is also just not satisfying. When a main character sacrifices themselves, its usually their choice, but the coma wasn't a sacrifice, that was something that just happened. It would be so much better if Satoru was given the choice of saving Misato or going into a coma, it would make it so much more interesting. A show like Steins;gate shows the main character sacrificing many things and it is HEARTBREAKING, but its GOOD. This just feels thrown in. Otherwise, everything else was good. The soundtrack is amazing, the plot is good for the first 8 episodes, the characters are interesting and you can get invested in them (the ones that we know for a while anyways), and the visuals were also amazing. EDIT: After making all these points, I found a youtube video that discusses the EXACT SAME POINTS AS ME which is funny as fuck but even more of a coincidence is that they also used Steins;gate as an example. Here is the video link for those interested: https://youtu.be/B2665NR6yxg

This was one of my first anime and man was it fucking awesome. The 2nd half of Assassination Classroom really ramps up, as class E has to take on the rest of the classes, and prove that they aren't the worst. On top of that this last season is EXTREMELY emotional as the students have to deal with the fact that after spending all this time with their teacher, they will have to kill him, which obviously was a goal since the start of the anime, but was put off as the students started to enjoy his company. I cried. A lot.

This review will be for both Steins;Gate and Steins;Gate 0: Probably the greatest anime series to ever exist. Every single character is so lovable, and the slow start from a comedy anime about people making up silly gadgets and then a time travel machine that affects texts to a massive drama and action that shows the consequences of time travel and how far you can push it. I think Kurisu is the first not annoying tsundere, and one who I very much enjoy. In Steins;Gate 0, when she is dead and Rinatrou Okabe starts looking at Amadeus as Kurisu is so fucking heartbreaking. This is

a masterpiece of an anime that is worth the watch, even now. This anime is so good that I will probably come back to add more notes to this review. Ruka best character.

WARNING: THIS IS ONE OF THE SADDEST ANIME AND ANIME MOVES EVER CREATED.
This anime movie is about a normal dude and his meeting with an eccentric girl who has pancreatic cancer. It is very melancholy, as you realize how much each character values the time they spend together with each other. You can't really call this a romance. There isn't really a type of name for this type of relationship, as I dont think it can be called a friendship either.
Nevertheless, it is a beautiful film that doesn't joke about the idea of death and cancer, but reminds everyone to focus on the times you
...
have had and are currently having with the people you love instead of dreading what is to come.
SPOILER: The ending of this movie slaps you in the face hard, as instead of dying from her cancer, she is instead murdered off screen. This ending is also foreshadowed throughout the movie with the murderer being mentioned multiple times. It really is a slap in the face that is so much different than the ending we all expected. It is brutal and devastating. As the main character sits down with her mother and starts to cry, the movie goes through all the time they spent together, and it is beautiful.
This is the greatest anime movie ever made.

Mob Psycho 100 III finally finishes off the series in an amazing way, and shows Mob finally accepting himself as Shigeo and vice versa. As usual for Mob Psycho 100, the first half is a bit eh but it ramps up in the 2nd half, however the first half for this season is more like a second half for the others. When it finally comes time for the second half, it ramps up a lot, ending with Reigen finally revealing himself as a fraud to Mob, thus allowing him to become one with his other self and confess to tsubame. He gets rejected, but they
...
still talk, hinting at a possible relationship down the line, so its not all bad. Reigen finally isn't alone as the last time we saw him celebrate his birthday he was alone and had no one to wish him happy birthday. This time, he is surrounded by many friends and its really cool to see. This has to be one of the greatest endings to a show of all time.

I love how this season really shows the darker more grittier side to the My hero world, with the deaths of some of our favorite characters and the public turning on the heroes.
It is also insane to see Midoriya start developing and using all of his quirks but also getting more and more brutal and terrifying to the people he is supposed to help. He also stops working with friends to protect them and I love the moment where Bakugo apologizes as it shows not only character development for Bakugo but also shows how Bakugo managed to work together as a team with UA while
...
Midoriya is on his own.
This season really emphasizes hopelessness and shows that even heroes can be broken. The Toya reveal wasn't really that surprising tbh I guessed this as far back as when he appeared, but it still hits a major plot point. Overall I love this gritty take on My hero and the scenes of Lady Nagant, the Toya reveal, All might crying, and Bakugo apologizing is pretty fucking good.
The speech Uraraka gave was amazing and the whole episode was just so emotional. Stain coming in to lecture All Might was awesome, as well as him making up with Midoryia, Bakugo trying not to call Midoriya "Deku" and our first glimpse of heroes from other countries. So glad they didn't fuck up the ending of this season, can give it a 10/10 without any worries.

I think this is more of a 9.5, so I rounded it up (Edit: I'm stupid for not seeing how amazing this anime was and after thinking about it I now I think it deserves the 10/10, maybe even higher). Gurren Lagann is pretty amazing in so many ways. It is the anti-neon genesis evangelion. It doesn't really spend too much time on one thing, and this was apparent since the first episode, where I thought they might be in the underground forever, but got out pretty quick. Of course thats just one example, but you get it.
The next thing it does great are some
...
of the characters. Sure, not all of them are that interesting, but the main characters sure are. Kamina is probably my favorite character in the series and is basically the heart of the show btw im about to spoil something so if you are reading this and don't want to get spoiled, this is your chance. So basically Kamina dies, and it is extremely heartbreaking, because up until this point, he was the heart of the show. Sure Simon is the main character and we know this, but much like the characters of the show we focus on Kamina rather than Simon as Kamina is more interesting, so when he dies, it is extremely heartbreaking. It doesn't help that he feels like that older brother we all want and is always pushing you. But his death also gave us another great character. Simon, who up until this point, had been relegated as brother #2, the Luigi to Kamina as Mario. After Kamina's death, it pushes Simon to become as great as he did, which eventually leads to him growing as a character and killing the Spiral King (kind of). Yoko is pretty great in the show, except I feel like she is used more for fanservice and a minor love triangle plot, but I feel that in the beginning at least, she is very useful to the team and acts as one of the more grounded and main characters. Unfortunately that goes to shit after the time skip, which I will talk about in a sec. The other characters are decently interesting such as Kittan and his sisters, and I think Viral is a fucking great villain. There are also characters like leeroy and the rest of the team who I think do a very solid job of rounding out the cast.
Now for the plot of Gurren Lagann. Gurren Lagann does not spend a lot of time on the characters backstories, and to a certain extent I think thats fine. We know Simon's parents got killed in an earthquake, and Kamina's dad died on the surface. Although I feel a little more detail could have been put into the backstories, its not that big of a deal. Gurren Lagann is pretty beautiful as it teaches you many messages throughout the first half, and its pretty inspirational. Sure, they can be a little bit obvious, like "always stive for freedom" or "keep on going" but I feel like some episodes especially are unique, such as the episode with the people who worship the gunmen, and I think its very important to see what lessons can be taken away from episodes like that. Not only that, this show also teaches us that there are two sides to a story, like why the beastmen do what they do. SPOILER ALERT, so when it all comes to Kamina's death, we see how big of an impact it is on the story. Kamina carries on, even with the injuries he sustained. He bids a happy yet sorrowful goodbye to his little brother and its overall just heartbreaking to see a guy who you would never think would die die. It also helps push Simon's character into someone more interesting, which leads me to the time skip.
Lemme get this out of the way. I HATE time skips. I think they are unoriginal, lazy, and really kills the momentum of any show. But for Gurren Lagann, it kinda makes sense. What else do you do when you have killed the tyrannical dictator keeping the world imprisoned underground? It cant be another monster of the week type show anymore. It only makes sense for there to be a time skip. And there is. A 7 year time skip takes place where we see that Simon is now the commander of the world, with Rossiu at his side (we can also see that Rossiu feels that Simon takes his role too lightly, which is foreshadowing). Anyways, we know that Yoko decided she wasn't cut out for politics and she disappears and we see that humans have started to live on the surface. Seeing the new Simon in a more confident and leadership like position is pretty startling as he used to be shy and scared. He also kinda looks more like Kamina, which is a bit strange cuz they aint biologically related but hey maybe its the fashion choice or we can chalk it up to anime being anime. But yeah, some shit happens, aliens called anti-spirals attack, Rossiu overthrows Simon to become commander, and we learn that Yoko is a teacher now and comes to save Simon while he is in prison waiting for his execution. In this period of time we also learn that gunmen are kind of a thing in the past and are replaced with more advanced robots, except those more advanced robots are kinda useless against fighting anti-spirals because gunmen were made to fight anti-spirals, which is a pretty good explanation of why gunmen are more effective. Simon then takes up Gurren Lagann again, with viral now becoming the other person in the cockpit, and I feel in this scene we see two things. One, that Yoko is completely useless now, like sure she fights in her gunmen but we don't see her do that much from here on out which is kind of a shame, and I felt she could have been used way more. The second thing we see is that Simon has kind of begun to act like Kamina. He has stopped giving up so easily, and has often pushed farther into enemy lines than before, where he used to retreat. He also would spout random inspirational lines like Kamina. It is pretty amazing seeing the drastic change in personality and shows how much of an impact Kamina had on Simon. Then after all is done, Rossiu tries to off himself, which Simon prevents, which I think is a little bit strange considering he was about to sacrifice like 90% of the world, and he gets off pretty easily, which kinda pissed me off.
Other than that, the final battle is coming up and lemme just say, shit gets fucking wild. So they get put into some water, and a lot of character sacrifice themselves, except they are some minor characters so imma be real I don't care too much, but its still sad. Then Kittan sacrifices himself and that is really heartbreaking because I think he is almost the replacement Kamina, while he might not spout inspirational lines like him he is similar in personality and is treated like an older brother, so its pretty emotional when he sacrifices himself. Then the big moment comes where they fight the anti-spiral, and lemme just say HOLY FUCK IS THE ANIMATION AMAZING. A little side tangent here but the animation for this is fucking amazing. THIS CAME OUT IN 2007, AND IT LOOKS LIKE IT WAS MADE IN 2022. GODDAMN BRO. The fight scenes in these last parts also look fabulous, and the background of space looks fantastic. Then the tearjerker came. They are all stuck in extrastaneous space, which like a mind memory labyrinth, when Kamina visits Simon in his memories or dreams and starts talking to him, and its just great. I started bawling like a baby when a grown up Simon and Kamina were talking with each other and Kamina notices how tall Simon had gotten. I saw the movie version of this scene too and I can say its better because it involves Kittan more, which I think is really cool, showing how Kittan kinda became a second brother to Simon. Anyways after thats all done, they all come back and combine into one big mech. Simon then gives off one of the greatest speeches in all of anime, and this speech is why I call this anime the anti-neon genesis evangelion. Evangelion is very melancholy and makes you depressed, but Gurren Lagann seeks to inspire you to believe in yourself. Not the type of believe in your self deus ex machina, but the believe in yourself for real because you can do amazing shit type stuff. But yeah they defeat the dude and go back to earth. Then Simon and Nia get married, but Nia fades out of existence because the anti-spiral no longer exists. It is a very emotional moment for everyone, and Simon takes off his wedding suit, puts on his cape with the Gurren Lagann logo, and disappears.
Now this last part of the story I don't really like too much, like some parts are cool, and I'll mention those, but its ANOTHER time skip, and sure its a bit warranted, but idk I feel like it doesn't fit as well. Yoko is the principal of the school (cool), Rossiu is the president (fucking why he almost left everyone for dead dont trust this guy), the other side characters are doing well, Viral is a captain for the space craft (really fucking cool, I like how beastmen and humans now co-exist), and finally Simon is just off somewhere wandering the world. I kinda hate that shit. I feel like Simon should have just returned to being commander or at the very least don't kill of Nia and have them married and living happily. There is literally no reason for Simon to be wandering the world with his drill spear. Everyone who wants to be out of the underground is out, no one really digs anymore, and its not like there are any more big robots to fight or enemies or something. Which kinda brings me to my next point, I don't get too much why he gives the drill away to Gimmy, like its not like the story showed us much emotional attachment, but its also like I dont think Gimmy will be able to use it because from what the show has said so far, only Simon can use Lagann. But yeah back to my point what is Simon doing with the spear drill at the end, is he just homeless and wandering like a mile away from the capital? Its a bit strange, but hey, good anime overall. Also realized this is my longest review/note yet. Jesus.
