Not sure the exact number but the OVA ends at v13 ch 8.
With that said, I recommend watching the OVAs first and then read the manga from scratch.
In general the OVAs skip or combine multiple stories into one and they have more of a serious vibe to it (it’s still hilarious though). Though just because it skipped or combined things, didn’t make it bad at all, in fact it’s better than the manga.
The manga is more comedic and short in nature but as I said anime skipped A LOT and went around all over the place in the manga so you’d have to start from the beginning.

Just finished what may be my favorite fictional experience ever, Umineko. 😭

Gurren Lagann is interesting. The first couple eps were kinda gag-ish and didn’t seem particularly good writing wise. However, Kamina’s...u know what scene 😭, that episode was amazing and allows for a lot of potential for both Simon and the narrative. Just got introduced to Nia who seems like she’ll shed a different light to the series and seems like a really nice character.

So I have hopes, I expect this second half to be really great.

Maybe I made a mistake with the other FMA film. If this is true, I take back the point of criticism in my review for it.
