This anime is the embodiment of what every antisocial person wants, and what many of them need.
Let me explain. When you start out this anime, you'll meet the protag, and come to find out "huh... we are oddly alike". As you watch it, you'll see a change in this protag, and in some cases, for the worse, and in others, for the better.
I think what makes this anime very high up on my list, but also not a masterpiece, is that it feels real. Like obviously, its about vampires... which I'm guessing aren't real (if they are, I'd love to meet one and chat). But
...
what is real, is the emotions the protag goes through.
You'll see them take the time to think through their ups and their downs, the highs and lows of their day. You'll see them try to rationalize emotion, while also being an emotional wreck.
What this anime feels like, is an endless rollercoaster of emotions. From seeing someone hit rock bottom, to rising towards the top. From seeing someone hide their emotions, to learning how to express them.
This anime is a surreal experience, and in many cases, spoke to my soul. It spoke to my desire to want to actually enjoy life, and gave me a lot to think about.
So I will say this... don't give up, find a way to step out of your comfort zone, and you'll come to find out, things aren't as bad as you make them out to be.
That is what this anime teaches us.

Death Parade is an anime meant to stimulate the mind, to make you question your own sanity, your morality, and your deepest fears.
This is one of the few anime where I felt like something in me has changed mentally, where I was sitting in my room in the middle of the night and pondering my own existence.
If you are someone who has a lot of insight, curiosity, and desire to know more about who you are and who other people are, then this anime will show you the raw and unfiltered pain and suffering that people hide.
This anime will make you question even your closest
...
friends, because in the end... do you really know them? Have they really opened up to you and shared with you a secret they hide?
Odds are... they haven't, and its no surprise. We all have something to hide, and this anime exposes some of our deepest and darkest fears and desires, our own weaknesses and motivations.
Who we are and who we appear to be, very rarely line up, and in most cases, are so completely different, that this anime will make you see a mirror before you, and you'll have to look into that reflection, and ask yourself... AM I OKAY WITH THIS?
Well... are you?

This is one of the few anime where the ending left me speechless. Its one of those experiences where you are glad it happened, but sad at the same time.
I'm keeping this all vague for a reason, and this is because, this anime is one that speaks to the soul for people who have been or are in a relationship.
It does an incredible job exploring the ups and downs, while also giving you hope and despair. It shows you that life has obstacles, challenges, and conflicts, yet tells you that these things aren't truly what you want to overcome.
In the end, the goal is not
...
to stand still... but to keep moving forwards. That is what this anime is about. Its about figuring out who you are, and who you want to be in life... not about stopping because you think you have it all figured out.
Cause you don't. Nobody does.

Highschool of the Dead is not a GOOD anime, in fact, this anime is actually complete and utter garbage to watch and really only for people who do not have any sense of self-respect or dignity...
...that said, this is actually an anime worth paying close attention to. You see, while the obvious upfront goal of this anime is to draw in people through extreme (almost hentai levels) of ecchi, there is more to it.
First off, every character in this anime, is someone we know or have met in real life. Many of them are so absurdly close to people we personally know, and some of
...
them are even a complete representation of ourselves.
Every character in this, has their own story to tell, their own feelings to explore, and when you look past the ecchi, you'll come to find out, that even though a lot of them are clearly out of most people's leagues by a long shot, these are genuine people with genuine problems.
These are people who understand the trauma of growing up, of living a life that they did not ask for, of hiding their feelings and their fears because of the strain that society puts on them.
In the end, despite this anime clearly being for the wandering eye, this anime has a lot to teach us... but sadly, does it in a terrible way. So, I shall say it again... look past all the ecchi, the unrealistic body physics, and absurd comedy skits, and try to envision the bigger picture.
These are people who all have skeletons in their closet, and under extreme stress, have to not only face their own demons, but face the fact that society around them has collapsed, allowing other people to recklessly pursue their own ambitions and desires without any control to prevent things from escalating too far.
As I said before, this anime is not good... but this was the ONLY anime that I actually became so invested in, that I even read the manga. Needless to say, I can relate to one of the characters, and watching this more than once, I have seen people from my life, as other characters in this.
Some of these people I genuinely hate, some of these people I looked up to, and others I never even had the chance to even get to know.
All and all, the soundtrack is incredible, the visuals are fantastic (no, not those kind, get your head out of the gutter), and the story is one that many of us growing up, have or are currently experiencing.

My first impression of this without watching it, was that it was just some goofy parody anime, similar to Highschool Of The Dead, but just like with that anime, if you ignore the oddities of it, you come to find out that there is a lot more to the story than you're seeing.
First off, the main character is someone most of us adults (and even some teenagers) can relate to. Where you're living in a life that is draining and soul destroying, where you feel like no matter how hard you try, you're going nowhere and all your efforts mean nothing.
Then as the anime progresses,
...
it leans heavily into teaching people the value of enjoying the time you have, while also having intense moments of action, inspirational moments of friendship and trust, and lastly... great moments of laughter.
Through and through, this anime has a lot to bring to the table, with a whole slew of recognizable character attitudes that you have probably experienced in your own life, and best of all... there is one moment in this, where you'll watch it, and immediately hear the song "You Say Run" playing in your head.
I would say, for people who need inspiration to do more with their life, this is a good stepping stone to make you want it.

So, I gave this a MASTERPIECE ranking, and with good reason. Just like with the anime itself and all its food dishes, there is a unique blend of story, fantasy, comedy, slice of life, romance, and so much more.
You see the trials and tribulations of the world, the people that live in it, and the stories they have to tell. Yet at the same time, despite the behind the scenes conflicts that do exist in this anime, the unfront told story is one of pure bliss.
Now, I will admit, the first few episodes did leave me with more questions than answers. Like "why is this
...
building so special anyways?" "How did nobody kill this chef to begin with?"
But the longer I watched this, the more I realized, the anime was never about the food. While food is a huge component of this anime, its actually the ice breaker for what really matters the most... having a good time with good people in a setting that brings us all together and gives us something to mutually love and respect.
Essentially, this anime has all the makings of a child's storybook, with fascinating characters, beautiful visuals, and underneath all the different storylines is a life lesson to learn. While we may not always be on the same page, there is one thing we can all agree on... that having a good meal with good company is always a fantastic experience.
Sadly though, this is an anime, so its not as common as it used to be, and people's wants and desires are far more complex than that these days.
But yeah, this is 100% a FEEL GOOD anime from start to finish, and if you ever need a pick me up, this is HIGHLY recommended.

DO NOT WATCH THIS!
Now, hold up a second... I'm not saying this because the anime is bad, in fact, it is so absurdly good, it will get you hooked almost immediately. The reason why I say DO NOT WATCH THIS, is because if you are someone who has lived or is living an unfulfilling or stressful life, this might actually break you and cause severe levels of depression.
So, as someone living in poverty, when I watched this, I did not know what to expect. My brain was just like "cyberpunk? so like, futurism with violence? Okay."
That... WAS A BIG MISTAKE. I should have done much
...
more research before going into this, because by the end of it, I actually became so stressed out and negatively affected by it, that I cried... a lot.
So, all feels and emotions aside, this is legitimately a beautiful anime to watch, and without a doubt, a masterpiece and in my top 5 favorites. You get to meet a huge range of characters (and will end up loving most of them unconditionally, and some way more than you should), you will hear probably one of the best soundtracks ever, and then by the end of it... one specific song will become burned into your mind and immediately trigger a mental breakdown every time you hear it.
This anime... is truly something else, and if you've experience things like living in poverty, losing a loved one, or are just living a mediocre life that does not bring you joy... then this will amplify all that pain to extreme levels.
So be careful.

This is both the best and the worst anime experience I have ever had, and not because of the anime itself, but because by the end of it, my brain was melting from the absolute mind melt.
So, when you're watching this, pay VERY CLOSE attention to each and every character that talks. Truly listen to the things they say, the actions they do, and the personality they portray, and at the very end of it, after this rollercoaster of twists and turns, the biggest twist of them all, will make so much sense to you.
However, if you go into it like I did, like its
...
just your typical anime with some like... Sin City kind of vibe, you'll end up having an absolute brain blast once you recall what some of the characters have said.
I'm honestly surprised this hasn't been talked about more, considering how much it makes you think about everything in it, and then about how you'd feel in that situation as well.
It also does an incredible job at making you enjoy almost every character, even some of the bad ones, as they all have a unique personality type.

A pretty solid furry oriented anime overall.
But in all seriousness, jokes and memes aside, this was a very welcoming anime to experience. The art style was quite beautiful, the characters memorable (even though, if I am being honest... most of them are absolutely annoying and hate-able), and the OP was excellent.
This is an anime that, strangely enough, needs MORE filler. Like, the anime is just on a constant treadmill of action and story driven conflicts, that you don't get much time to really process all of it.
So, with that said... I will say this, you will probably end up hating one specific character if you
...
really really really like the main character, and I don't blame you, I immediately developed a seething hatred for her as well (and no, it isn't the one you see in the beginning).

I'll be the first to admit, I'm probably the odd one out... but the "story" of this anime was actually more interesting than the "plot".
Like yeah, its clearly one of those "special" anime, and there is a lot of emphasis on it, but if you look past that, it is basically like Final Fantasy with various RPG elements in real-time as you watch.
You'll see changes to the main character's stats, their personality, their understanding of the world around them, and their experience as they survive in this space.
Obviously, it isn't the most elaborate and unique thing from an anime like this, and it isn't anything
...
special or mindblowing, but it was actually quite refreshing in between all the explicit content.
That said... as for the explicit content, well... it has a thumbs up. Sadly, you don't get much from the other characters, but it was nice to see a catgirl was included.
This honestly feels like it could have been a somewhat decent anime without all the ecchi and whatnot.
