I haven't seen a lot of movies this year, but I would definitely recommend Gundam SEED Freedom to some friends of mine. Like the semitomboy from North Carolina that speaks fluent German. She was an honors student, by the way and also loves historical manga.
I have been using a Japanese copy of Wild Arms 2 to improve my kanji. Taking snapshots of any kanji that I haven't discovered yet. I played the American copy that Sony translated once and the dialogue got incomprehensible.
You have some magnificent taste by the way. A friend of mine is also a big fan of CLAMP.
My favorite sci-fi manga so far is Silent Möbius which is about futuristic exorcists from a police department keeping citizens safe from demons that came to Earth via another universe. To bad the sequel QD hasn't been translated at all.
