Synopsis

Makoto Kubota wandered through life, not taking things too seriously or looking too deep within himself. His job as the head of the Izumo Group's youth gang kept him pleasantly occupied with yakuza wars, mahjong and assassinations... Until the day he stumbled upon a strange drug called Wild Adapter that produces bizarre side-effects—including death. Forever changed, Kubota becomes entangled with a drifter named Minoru Tokito, and the two form an unlikely companionship that draws them deeper into the mystery of Wild Adapter...

In the mid-1990's Yokohama yakuza scene, "W·A," or "Wild Adapter," is hot. The corpses left behind are transformed into an animalistic state, i.e. fur and claws. Two powerful yakuza groups, the Izumokai and the Toujougumi, are fighting for control over W·A, and the police continue a baffled investigation over the gory remains of W·A users.

Kubota Makoto [age 17ish at the beginning of the series] manages to stumble into a leadership position of the Izumokai youth division; he comes across as aloof and indifferent, even read more

A very enjoyable series to read.
Wild Adapter's fast-pacing and plot development make it one of the most enjoyable stories to follow; the way that the story and characters develop, and the timing of themes like humor make the story stand out, and the characters become very real and likable. Even while covering the relationships of the characters as a BL the romance doesn't over power the plot. It's a great mix of drama, action, romance, and comedy,

The art is also very good, having a well developed and believiable style.

I really enjoyed it for it's story as well as the characters and art.
Overall I read more
