> the bakemonogatari spinoff
Wait, I read a Bakemonogatari spinoff??
> I really like good characters and long stories with one continuous plot, or you know when it feels like the entire story was planned out from the start.
I would say that LotGH fits that really well! I like both versions tbh, but I also love cel animation and the 80s character designs are great imo. Definitely try it out when you feel up to it ^^
I would say if you're interested in a more mature writing style (which I would say Monster is), then you might like LotGH! There's a lot of narration and talking, but the story is really well written and brings up political and moral questions. Plus, Reinhard is a super charismatic character, I love following him, and Yang Wenli is an incredibly interesting deuteragonist as well!
I'm glad it wasn't 24 episode long, but maybe 99 were too many. Though it makes me laugh that they just decided to stop at 99 instead of 100 :D
I have not read the manga, so I cannot comment on that. I generally try to avoid manga when I'm really enjoying an anime to not spoil myself. In this case, I think the anime did a great job and I didn't feel much need to find out more about the story, especially because after the climax, it started dragging a bit for me.
But as you said, most likely it won't make much of a difference, so choose the medium you enjoy more :D
Hello! Considering I gave it a 10 and it's in my favorites, you can imagine what my opinion would be, haha :D I really love it and it's a great story of following your dreams whatever the age. The main guy is a pretty pessimistic guy who has already given up before trying due to fear of rejection (yet, he's a pretty happy guy), so to see his growth throughout the anime is very nice, especially combined with his relationship with his brother. Along the way you also have various other dramatic mini stories unravel themselves about each character. For the most part, it's very relatable and I liked it from episode one.
Thankfully, it is not long enough to drag, but it does have some parts that are slow without much purpose, but by then, you like most characters so it's ok. It reaches a climax point towards the end and to be honest, I cannot think anything else would be topping that, so in a sense, I'm glad there's no sequel to it, haha.
I hope you'll like it if you decide to watch it :D
