Makoto Shinkai is a genius. He treats his characters like people. He cares about them. To watch his films is to be for a time in the company of people we would like to know, and then to realize that they are, in various ways, ourselves.

He's more than a genius. I can't imagine thinking, feeling and loving like a teenager when I'm middle-aged.

S01 was amazing. About S02... I have to admit it was the first time I ever dropped an anime. The point is not what they did wrong, but what did they do right.
