Not meaning to throw flames on the fire, but I almost fell asleep during Index S1, and find S2 so far to be really...well...average. The first plot arc doesn't even make any sense so far.
Wheras Railgun was much more...down to earth. It didn't hesitate to use its characters strengths, and it actually had a large cast of likeable characters who did more than just fight.

I'm also waiting for my RailgunS2 ~:3 Biribiri over Index anyday for me.
Dude, you are already judging season 2 after TWO EPISODES. TWO BLOODY EPISODES !!!

Okay, let me set this straight again, Railgun pretty much took one arc and then filled the rest of the two cour season with filler and slice of life. I don't really know this likability you refer to, but if you are talking about lesbians who can't restrain themselves from trying to rape their friends or sullen friends who constantly mope around with their inferiority complex then thanks but no thanks, I want none of that. That best episodes in the whole season all had Touma in them, how interesting (or maybe that just means Mikoto is a rather boring typical heroine-type character when she's not interacting with people outside her circle of girlfriends).

It's not like this will convince anyone nor I will attempt to do so. Index and Railgun just have an extremely different tone and I think this was done on purpose by the writer. Index represents the magic and religious world and has a rather dark and serious theme which may be what bored some people, and on the other hand Railgun shows the oblivious side of Academy City where the secrets of the world are yet hidden to the students who are just dazzled by their day to day life.

Railgun S2 with imouto arc, plzkthx
The Sisters arc was incomplete when the anime aired so either blame the manga writer for being too slow or the anime studio for producing it too early.

More Index, Less Railgun
I know there is S2 but I'm hating on the fact that Railgun which to me is not as good as Index is more popular. ........yep.......Haters gonna Hate, but some just have the right to
Index>>>Railgun

Shesh guys, I don't mean to randomly walk in on your argument, but Index and Railgun are two totally different genre of anime.

Index focused on action and managing to fit four to five arcs into a 24 episode series by condensing everything to the bones (thus making everything as straight forward as possible).

Railgun focused on characters and comedy and only truly had two arcs to fit into a 24 episode series (allowing for filler episodes and plot to be spread out over many more episodes).

BOTH series are good. Just good in different ways. Its not a matter of statistics.
It depends on whether you like your comedy with a bunch of middle school girls' daily antics, or you like your action with a guy punching bad guys with his bare fist.
Honestly, I'll take the action with plot over the slice of life nothingness. I was actually expecting maybe more from Railgun after finishing up Index so it disappointed me very much (and made me hate Kuroko that I want to shoot out my ears whenever I hear her voice). I'm just saying that basing a show's high score by a popularity contest is not the best argument to convince someone (it's like saying that K-ON!! is good because Mio or Azuza is popular). Well here's to hoping that Railgun OVA has some good action in it though I'll be sticking to Index (hooked me from start to end).

Okay, well for one thing, IT TOOK WAY TOO DAMN LONG FOR AN ACTUAL PLOT TO DEVELOP (and don't give me any detailed plot bs because they were just f*cking around most of the episodes). In Index the characters played around for maybe one or two episodes before jumping right into the action. No amount of Saten (Saten=moe......and not a single f*ck was given by me), Uiharu (someone plz shut her up), or Kuroko (someone seriously get rid of her) will sway me into liking Railgun over Index.

I don't really care if some of the characters get enough screen time or background in Railgun, just freaking DO SOMETHING instead of sitting around talking about crap I don't care about (and no, skirt flipping, yuri raep, and bikinis are not doing something). The only parts of Railgun I actually enjoyed were the ends of part 1 & 2 of that Level Upper arc (even if the second part was filler) and that one arc with the Capacity Down thingy (since stuff actually happened in there to keep my attention). I could keep going but u get my point, and now I sit back and wait for the flames and haters to spam me. *sips tea*

So your argument for bashing Railgun is that it took too long to develop a plot, and you don't like the characters???

Well, I'll let MAL facts show you that you're by yourself:

RATINGS:

Index: 7.83

Railgun: 7.95

Index CHARACTERS:

Index: 178 Favorites
Kaori Kanzaki: 65 Favorites
Komoe Tsukuyomi: 19 Favorites
Himegami: 9 Favorites

Railgun CHARACTERS:

Misaka Mikoto: 1,152 Favorites
Kuroko Shirai: 228 Favorites
Saten Ruiko: 123 Favories
Uiharu: 34 Favories

Face it dude, Railgun has a better Ranking (that means people thought it was better) than Index.

...and Railgun has more character favorites (again that means people thought the characters were better) than Index.

The only bright side for Index was Accelerator arc.

Are Index and Railgun fans at war or something? I just started Railgun, but the first episode has definitely caught me. I also love Index, and while it has flaws it was a solid 8 in my book. Either way they are both engaging series, and I think learning for Index's mistakes is a lot of the reason Railgun is as good as it is. They both deserve more episodes, and I'm glad to see a second Index season and the Railgun OAV.

And a difference of .12 between the two series is nearly meaningless, it's 1/5th of a half of a point. Honestly I wouldn't broadcast a difference that small if you are trying to prove your show superior, because at that point the statistics are saying they are considered nearly exactly the same quality. And since Kuroko and Misaka are both part of Index's cast as well (and Misaka is a very well liked member of Index's cast) they are naturally going to be higher then people exclusive to either show (such as Index, Uihara, or Touma). Touma, also btw has 331 favorites. Which means the only one beating him is Misaka, who is by far the more entertaining character in either of the two series in my eyes.

i want to see touma with biribiri in OVA!

I just wish they do some serious ones. The animation in railgun special was kind of bad. Looked like animated version of manga ends where the author doesn't want to do anything but make silly 4 komas.

Hopefully the OVA is as good as they priced the darn thing.

The upcoming Railgun OVA has attracting some attention for its pricing – at an apparent ¥6,300 for 30 minutes

Ha, this has got to be the funniest comment an Index supporter has said in relation to Railgun.

I mean seriously did you even THINK when you wrote this!

side character>MAIN character???

generic tsundere>Likable Heroine???

barely no Kuroko>Constant Yuri Rape Kuroko???
I actually prefer this, Kuroko is only good in small doses (and even then she can still be a bit annoying). Plus, the only time I really enjoyed Railgun was when Touma and Misaka interacted which was pretty funny most of the time. Also I kinda missed the part where Misaka was a heroine from her Gekota obsession and her taste in childish things and then denying them tsundere style.

Nice, more Railgun. I'm definitely going to watch this ^^

Mainly due to the fast that she was a side character in it. In fact there were very few consistent main characters in index, even index herself as she did nothing more than pop in every now and then and bite touma after the first arc. Railgun had an interesting cast of characters that actually played a role in most of the story

I know I sound like I'm bashing index but it's just a comparison, that aside I eagerly await both of the new seasons/OVAs.

Wait... what? To me Railgun was filled with "OVA"s.

:P

Well, don't mind; any Biribiri, Biribiri Imouto or Last Order is win.
