I think it should have said, "Join the JSDF, because America won't let us have a real army ;_;"

I hope you're joking because anime is very commercial (and therefore capitalist) to begin with. It's not as if the animators (or TV station employees or licensors or toymakers) live on love and smiles after all.

If you had said 'the corrupt forces of militarism' I might have agreed with you.

Man, why can't we have cool posters like that over here? ;_;

It's good to know that the Japanese are using anime to endorse their armed forces. It may just get some of the lazy, fat ass otaku out of their rooms and into the open air where they can make something of their lives other than fapping to loli's.

Still, yes, the drawing isn't great but I think this is good. Anime is possibly getting another exposure outlet, and the defense force gets exposure on all these anime sites. Win-win.

That poster is poorly drawn, the position of the fingers, arms and joints is all wrong and the girl suffers from huge hands and elephant ears. But then again, I'm no artist.

The staff of ufotable Tokushima are mostly newface animators. If the art looks poor to you, it may be the reason.
My main problem was her right shoulder, I don't see how it's possible to position your arm like that without moving your shoulder up and forward; looks like they didn't crop a larger picture but tried to draw it without perspective. I usually don't notice bad art though...

To be fair, her face does look kind of real though, more 3D than 2D. Still has man hands though.

My bad art senses are tingling, the message is good the art is horrible.

It's not that bad if you ain't choosy, but if you really mind it isn't all that great.

Nice that they're involved with the community though, getting rid of the "bad image" associated with anime/manga definitely seems to be necessary these days...
