'Honzuki no Gekokujou: Ryoushu no Youjo' Unveils New Staff, Teaser Promo for Spring 2026

The Yomiuri panel at Anime Expo 2025 revealed the production staff, a teaser visual (pictured), and a teaser promo for the Honzuki no Gekokujou: Shisho ni Naru Tame ni wa Shudan wo Erandeiraremasen - Ryoushu no Youjo (Ascendance of a Bookworm: Adopted Daughter of an Archduke) anime series on Saturday. The television anime adapting the third part of Miya Kazuki's isekai fantasy light novel is scheduled to premiere in April 2026.

Note: The staff denoted with the legend NEW are new in their respective roles.

Ajia-Do produced the first three seasons in Fall 2019, Spring 2020, and Spring 2022. Crunchyroll streamed the anime with multiple subtitles and dubs. Sentai Filmworks licensed the first two seasons and released them on home video in January 2021.

Kazuki penned the novel series on the Shousetsuka ni Narou website from September 2013 to March 2017. TO Books began publishing the novel featuring illustrations by You Shiina (Sakurada Reset) in January 2015. TO Books published the 33rd and final volume in December 2023. Honzuki no Gekokujou has a cumulative 12 million copies of its volumes in circulation.

Suzuka serialized a manga adaptation of the light novel's first part on the Comic Corona web magazine from October 2015 to July 2018. The second part began in the same magazine in September 2018 and has 12 volumes in print as of February 15.

Ryou Namino began serialized a manga adaptation of the third part in April 2018, with Hikaru Katsuki adapting the fourth part in December 2022.

Will be interesting to see how much better the animation will be for this new upcoming season of the show now that Wit Studio are the ones handling this show, and Ajia-do is no longer the studio handling the show.
