Evangelion: 1.0 is going back to theatres in April with additional enhancements that will also be available in the DVD which is to be released on the 25th of April. The film Evangelion:1.01 You Are (Not) Alone will be released the day after the DVD release in a Tokyo theatre and an Osaka theatre. The new release will feature video and audio enhancements of 266 shots as supervised by the director, Hideaki Anno.

The follow up to this movie (2.0 I presume) has been announced for 2008, but no release date has been set.

I'm at awe how long it's taking to put out the DVDs. At least I know now why it's taken this long...Looking forward to DVD.

They said the format of the movie data was revised from "35mm new print" to "HD telecine" to adapt to the DVD media. I'm not sure about the detail of these formats, but is the revised version still suitable for watching in the theater? anyway, it's good if GAINAX get extra money from this and invest it to the next title.

That's a little fast to be re-releasing the movie in theatres. You can't blame them for wanting to make money though- they invested a lot into making the movies.

I'm impressed with how much Anno has managed to milk so far. Is there no end to it?
