The official website of the Comic Zenon web magazine announced on Tuesday that the serialization of Yako Gureishi's Somali to Mori no Kamisama (Somali and the Forest Spirit) manga has ended due to the author's poor health. The web manga had been on hiatus since October 2019.

Gureishi began serializing the slice of life fantasy manga on the Comic Zenon website in April 2015. Tokuma Shoten released six volumes between November 2015 and April 2019. Prior to the hiatus, Gureishi published 38 chapters.

North Stars Pictures (now Coamix) licensed the manga in English and published the volumes digitally between February 22 last year and January 21.

A 12-episode television anime adaptation produced by animation studio Satelight aired this Winter. Crunchyroll co-produced and streamed the anime with subtitles and English dub.

The saddest news I've heard all year.

I wanna die,the manga ended on such a great moment, at least the anime covered it with nice not canon ending, which I loved.
I am depressed.

I really loved the anime so I'm very sad. I hope author's health recovers in the future.

Sadge, I liked the whole series, I wish the best for the author's health, it's important to prioritize your health over anything else, get well soon.

how sad, but what can you do. The author's health is more important. It's a shame such a unique and beautiful series had to end so early though

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

Planned on reading the manga eventually and judging by the volume covers it seems we had timeskips as well. Well now all I can do is make up my own wholesome headcanon.

Pretty rare to see a manga cancelled due to the author's health. It must be really damn serious sadly

That’s really sad to hear but I hope this will help the author get better.

Of lesser concern - Enjoyed S1 quite a bit and was quite hopeful for a S2 but I suppose prospects look even more unlikely now.
