Drama Series 'Night Head' Adapted for New TV Anime in Summer 2021

A new television anime adaptation of George Iida's 1992 Night Head live-action drama series was announced at the Fuji TV Anime Lineup Presentation 2020 event on Thursday. The event also revealed main staff, a teaser visual (pictured), and teaser promotional video. The anime, titled Night Head 2041, is set to air on Fuji TV's Ultra+ programming block in July 2021.

The story follows the Kirihara brothers who from a young age were incarcerated in a secure scientific facility due to their supernatural powers, having escaped after the barrier that was preventing them malfunctions. The story also follows the Kuroki brothers who are trying to chase the Kirihara brothers.

The original sci-fi television drama aired on Fuji TV from October 1992 to March 1993, inspiring a manga adaptation that ran between 1996 and 2000. The drama series was adapted into a 24-episode television anime titled Night Head Genesis in 2006. You Higuri serialized a manga adaptation based on the anime series between July 2006 and October 2008.
