Indeed bc: watching only scenes from shows and saying they're bad = actual retardation
Shows are made up of scenes, just as a life is made up of deeds. Should someone who rapes and murders a child not be judged by that deed? Should they be seen as a good person so long as the rest of their life was clean? Of course not.
Anyway, as a straight man I'm obviously not interested in a male fanservice compilation. I'm very familiar with the KyoAni formula - ever since they shifted their focus to moe, their shows have never been truly good. Pretending as if free is anything more than attractive guys swimming is like pretending K-ON is anything more than cute girls eating cake and drinking tea (and sometimes playing music).

Great way to reply when you have no argument.

I've watched enough of it to know that it's bad. Also, you were the one who replied to my 3 month old post. Anyway, it's a KyoAni moe show, none of them are anything special (including K-ON).

You haven't even watched it lmao so you might as well stop replying to me

Because it's not just cute boys doing cute things, it's about genuine friendship and finding out what your dreams are, who you are and basically coming of age. Also the characters personalities actually aren't one dimensional.
That's the meaning of corny, generic, and one dimensional.

It doesn't have the same comfy atmosphere as K-ON. How is free "so much more than that"? KyoAni hasn't made anything that could be described with those words in a long time.

and it so happens that cute boys doing cute things is nice too except free is much more than that, unlike k-on's first season

It's something comfy to relax to while watching cute girls do cute things. Nobody watches moe anime for excitement and deep characters.

I'm well aware of this, but it's a modern and greedy approach to business. History has known many eras where creators of entertainment put quality before profit.
It's just boys and fanservice. Even K-ON at least had a comfy atmosphere.

Dude, 90% of all entrepreneurs of a profit-seeking organisation will put profit before quality. Of the remaining 10%, 9% will put profit before quality so long as the the product does not actively harm its consumers. That's not a KyoAni thing. It's a business thing.

free! is quality, what are you talking about? smh
edit: this isn't sarcasm, i actually mean it. an anime about reaching your dreams with a dash of sports and with a loveable cast of characters. it's rare to have that especially with a huge fanbase that is fueling it's sequels and movies. i appreciate this series for how far they've come.

You have to understand that unlike Free! neither of the two titles are owned by KyoAni. Besides Free! is one of the biggest franchise of KyoAni. It's anime like Free! or Chuunibyou that would generate the revenue to take up projects like Maid Dragon in the future. Although I adored Maid Dragon, I was actually worried that it might enter red. Luckily it didn't.
To put it into perspective, compare the discs sold per volume for first season:
Free! 29.1 K
Chuunibyou 15.7K
Hibike! 8.3K
Maid Dragon 3.5K
Although there are other factors involved which are often disregarded, for instances production budget, manpower used, third party/ outsourcing (not usually applicable for KyoAni as they produce anime in house), IP, TV airing slot, TV stations involved, online broadcasting, licensing, merchandises, events, theatre releases and so on.
Sales aside, Free! and Chuunibyou are owned by KyoAni. The entire profit goes to their pocket. Hibike! is owned by Takarajima. Maid Dragon is owned by Monthly Action. That itself is a bigger reason for KyoAni to go for Free! and Chuunibyou over Hibike! and Maid Dragon. However, Hibike! actually had a significant profit margin. On top of that, all of the events were basically sold out. Also, the production value allowed KyoAni to add 5 mins of new content and release recap movies in the theatres, adding more monetary values to the franchise. I think these prompted KyoAni to announce not only one but two new movies in 2018, excluding the fact that the people involved with the production of Hibike!, including a couple of renowned ones, said they loved working on it like nothing else in their career.
Unfortunately for Maid Dragon, none of these apply. I doubt whether there would ever be any sequel. But I would be happy to be proven wrong.
Basically the same as above.
In fact, Maid Dragon was never that much of a big hit in Japan and it didn’t make as much of a fuss as it did overseas. So it’s not that surprising. Popularity is a thing they will always focus on in Japan lol
Finally someone said it. Disc sales talk so much.
Think of it this way. You can afford to buy 1 blu-ray each season and you WILL buy one blu-ray each season. There are 20 comedy/gag animes, 10 ecchi/harem animes, 10 adventure/action animes, and only 1 or 2 aimed at women (especially fujoshi)
If you like comedy, the 1 of the 20 comedy anime will get your money, the other 19 will not. If you like ecchi, 1 in 10. If you are a woman, 1 in 2.
If the show is good, it's guaranteed that women will buy blu-rays and merch of their favorite series.
There's also few competitor. Beside Yoi and Free, there's almost no high quality sports anime that's specially targeted at women. Yes, shonen sports anime have many female fans, but in the end their main demographic is still teenage boys.

Because people think that this ruined the chance of KyoAni ever making a third season. (KyoAni doesn't care about Haruhi, Free is more likely of getting a third season than Haruhi)
How does it feel to predict the future?
