I get it already! They are huge with female otakus BUT THEY ARE NOT MARKETED ONLY TOWARDS FEMALES! They are liked by both genders, while the ones that I mentioned are ONLY marketed to a female audience and the only thing they have going for them is hot husbandos and nothing else, yet their sales are crazy. And PLEASE, stop flying towards whatever direction you want, Osomatsu-san has nothing to do with this discussion. We are talking about anime like Starmyu, Touken Ranbu, Uta no Prince sama and this one.

I don't know about the manga, but the anime for Kurobasu and the others can be watched by guys but in Japan, the females are the ones buying the Bluray, DVDs, merch, CDs etc.

If you're talking about shows aimed explicitly at females, then look at the sales of anime like Norn9, Magic Kyun Renassaince, KamiAso, Amnesia, Diabolik Lovers and so on.

I'm not flying in any direction. I'm talking about a show which has EVERYTHING to do with females watching anime. Osomatsu-san has at least three otome like games aimed at female players. Don't they count as husbandos then?

On the topic of the anime you mentioned, from what I've seen, most girls who watch Starmyu ship the boys together, and don't see them as husbandos. Same with Touken Ranbu. There are so many doujinshi of the sword boys. Uta no Prince-sama has both fujoshi and yumejoshi (girls who want husbandos) as fans.
I deleted 2 replys because I accidentally pressed 'post' before I had finished (I'm using my phone). Anyway, I'm tired, I'm tired explaining to you, this is my last reply cause I just can't.

Anime that are like this one are always targeted solely at women, they hope to sell by adding hot guys and zero context, yet they almost always sell like crazy. Yes, I know it's not always successfully that's why I gave you specific examples in my reply at the beginning. This is the point I'm TRYING to prove you. Nothing else.

Look at the poster of this anime, then looks at the characters in the anime you said sold poorly, do they even remotely look the same?? No, these guys are dressed better, they look better, every single one of them is 'husbando' material AND they have animal ears. So please do not compare these characters with characters from Days or All Out, because none of those shows were targeted at the female audience!

But that's where you're wrong! Sports anime is HUGE with female otaku and fujoshi. Think Kuroko no Basuke, Haikyuu!!, YowaPeda, Free! etc. About the dressing better, looking better thing, I'll just point you to Osomatsu-san, one of best selling anime of 2015 where none of the brothers looked liked 'husbandos'.

Sakamoto, Nanbaka and Handa-kun was hardly targeted to a female audience, and they barely had any handsome guys unlike the ones I mentioned. Ozmafia was just a bunch of shorts so it barely qualifies. The rest I can accept, especially Cheer Danshi.

Handa-kun's main fanbase in Japan ARE females. Honest. It had a lot of male characters. Sakamoto too. Sakamoto himself is perfection and they really made him a bishounen in the anime. Nanbaka was full of guys and so many different seiyuu so any koebuta(seiyuu fan) would have liked them too.

DAYS also sold very poorly and that like All Out!!, was a sports anime.

You see my point. That's why I said not all. I also follow Amazon Stalker and there's this male idol show called Marginal#4. Volume 1 has an event ticket, and even then, it doesn't look like it'll sell well.

Starmyu, B-Project, Touken Ranbu: Hanamaru etc etc all are targeted to a female audience, have hot guys and are average-to-bad no matter how you look at them, yet they sell really really well. I doubt this will be any different. No hate though.

Thank you for no hate. But still, if you go here:
http://www.someanithing.com/4324

You can see so many series with handsome men at the bottom. Scared Rider Xechs, Ozmafia, Fudanshi Koukou Seikatsu, Handa-kun, Sakamoto desu ga, Nanbaka, Cheer Danshi...and more with low sales.

Hahaha...no. For every Yuri!!! on Ice, you have an All Out!!.

Just because it has hot guys doesn't mean it'll automatically sell well. Same goes for anime aimed at men too.
