Retired Animator Kakoi Hiroshi Killed in the Earthquake

According to the twitter of anime producer Kikukawa Yukio, animator and producer Kakoi Hiroshi was killed in the earthquake. He was 56 years old.

He was one of the producers of Macross II: Lovers Again and Moldiver. He was known as one of the key animators who created the episode 27 of Macross in 1982. The action scenes of the episode had made a great impact on the young animators at that time. Anno Hideaki and Suezen were among the key animators of the episode.

According to animator Onda Naoyuki, Kakoi had already retired from the anime industry.

And i thought he was somehow murdered during the time earthquake occurred. The title "Retired Animator Kakoi Hiroshi Killed in the Earthquake" is misleading.
