The Elder Sister Like One is many things. Charming, perverse, touching, eerie, sometimes lovely and other times disturbing.

Most of the manga involves bonding between the two main characters, with dark tales hinted at from frame to frame. All conveyed with a few words, those stories remain for you, the reader, to discover.

It is a rather interesting take at story telling, though many will be put off by the large amount of ecchi. Or maybe that will lure them to read it.

At the time of writing this review, there are 21 chapters out so far.

The art is great, having a good ... ability to set and change the mood at any moment.

The characters are a joy to see them interact. Chiyo's character has more to her than meets the eye, and is certainly the one I like the most. She has some perverse tendancies, however...

There are two ways to look at the ecchi in here.

Shameless fanservice, or the attempts of affection of a being who cannot comprehend humans, resulting in unnerving scenario tainted with bittersweetness.

The Elder Sister Like One is a manga that is what you make of it, but without a doubt is a highly enjoyable piece of art.

Adapted from a hentai manga comes a romantic, ecchi, slife of life. I came across this as I was looking for manga in an app.

There are 2 main characters, Chiyo and Yuu. Chiyo is the demon who is currently Yuu's older sister. The reason for this is because Yuu wished for this. A stunningly beautiful character, Chiyo's a bit clumsy and naive about the human world which was appealing. I really liked her. Yuu on the other hand reminded me of Chise from The Ancient Magus Bride. Both orphans, both wish to have a family, and both have similar hair. Except that one is a ... girl and the other is a boy. But Yuu is okay I guess. He is the protag after all.

Now what I enjoyed was their relationship. It's pleasant seeing them interact with each other and it was funny at times.

For now the story only shows Yuu's and Chiyo's relationship growing so that's pretty much the main reason i'm rating this a 7. There are hints of tragedy approaching so that is worth looking forward too. I'm probably gonna increase the score as I continue reading. I will update this review when I read like 20 chapters or so.

This heart-warming manga truly makes me want to have a Demon Oneechan.

When I first touch this manga, I thought that this might be a manga that only has superficial boobs drawings without actual good materials or contents. It is true that this manga is extremely ecchi at times (probably not a suggested manga to be read in front of your girlfriend without telling her the actual content); yet, the bonding and the conversations between characters, Chiyo (older demon sister) and Yuu (younger human brother), definitely settles the case that this manga is worth to be recommended.

I will say that Chapter 13 is the go-to ... chapter to decide whether or not you will like this manga or not. I personally will recommend reading up to chapter 13 but not go straight to chapter 13 to understand why Yuu reacts in a certain way that makes me feel this manga is worth reading.


Minor Spoiler:
Story: 9 (so many things are still not explained, thus i give it a -1 for potential error)
Art: 10 (I am a male and I approve the boobs and tentacles. Wait, I mean the contour and the body of Chiyo and Yuu are drawn in sophisticated details... I am using my artsy perspective to rate this... I think? Hmmm)
Character: 9 (So far, I still don't understand the purpose for the appearance of "his uncle". Thus, I give it a potential -1 for mistakes)
Enjoyment: 10 (If I only include the ecchi moments, I will give it an 7 or 8. But, the moments of conversations regarding to life and family make me give it a solid 10!)
Overall: 9 (As this manga is really slow in progress since it updates once per month with usually less than 20 pages each time, I will give it a -1. Other than that, this manga does deserve a solid 9 for overall. Content and boobs!)

What makes Ane Naru Mono so unique in comparison to other mangas out there is that the artist for this manga/author is incredibly well known for being a top tier eroge artist in the japanese community. That's not to say that someone like Tosh (Food wars) or Nanashi (Please Don't Bully Me, Nagatoro) is not unique since they are too, a hentai artist, but Pochi is actually the first hentai artist who actually turn her own hentai into a manga series. She is also the main artist for the milf isekai if anyone had seen that.

Oh yes, did I say she? Pochi is actually ... a female doujin artist. She is also a Virtual youtuber if you guys ever heard of Pochimaru / POCHI-GOYA.channel on youtube.

Me digressing aside, Ane Naru Mono is one wholesome manga. The gap moe, meaning the contrast between appearance and personality, is what makes this such a good read. The supposedly fearsome demon turning out to be extremely loving, a nice big sister type of character, and funny enough, a yandere; all that really did made me like the characters in this manga quite alot. It does seem overly perverted for an ecchi manga most of the times, but this doesn't stray away from telling us the story (the life of the shota), or the slice of life between the main protagonist and the female demon that he had accidentally summon to become his sister. That said, I still have abit of an issue with the overly sexualized panels recurring more so than the story. I just wished the author tone down abit of the start to a hentai-esque scenario instead of trying to make it happen for most of the chapters and cockblock it everytime. In all honesty, this manga felt more like a promotion to the hentai doujin than actually trying to promote a story. Later on though, like halfway through the chapters, the author actually focuses more on the story so it's not entirely bad.

I may be complaining, but the wholesomeness of the manga is enough for me to let it pass by, and alongside with the art designs for the characters.

Ane Naru Mono is quite a famous ecchi manga. It’s a manga series that’s been adapted from a doujin of the same name.

Ane Naru Mono follows Yuu and Chiyo, as Chiyo figures out how being human works. It consists of their wholesome bonding as siblings and a few ecchi moments due to Chiyo not understanding how people work. This makes up a lot of the story, but there are a few serious moments in the story. The backstory of Chiyo is dark and mysterious. It’s not touched upon too much. There’s also another character with a very serious background, but I won’t go into it ... due to it being spoilers. There are a few plot points and dark moments that feel forgotten about though, which is unfortunate since they seem interesting. Hopefully, they do go into them later in the manga.

The manga is paced well. It’s episodic and the story normally does not carry over between chapters. It’s able to space out the comedic, ecchi, and dark moments all well. The very few small arcs that matter to the plot are also well spaced out. They don’t happen too rapidly and they aren’t just missing from the plot half of the time.

The characters in Ane Naru Mono are fun. Chiyo is a demon who’s been summoned by Yuu to be his older sister. She’s trying her best to be an older sister. You see her fail some common, normal things and get upset about it. It’s really fun and cute to see her try to be the best older sister she can.

On the other hand, the main character, Yuu, is just a main character. His character is how you’d think a stereotypical shota would work. He’s kind, innocent, cute, and that’s it. He does get the extra factor of being ignored and other things like that in school due to being able to speak to ghosts, but it’s not shown in his character too often.

Interactions between Yuu and Chiyo are always great and fun to see unfold. It’s often very wholesome to see them interact.

The art in Ane Naru Mono was great. It was used effectively for every situation. In the wholesome moments, the art uses soft and thin lines. The lighting during these moments is very bright and not much is shaded in. During the ecchi moments, the lines become thicker and the shading becomes darker. It’s like a light grey as opposed to dark shading. And finally, during the serious moments, you move to a very dark grey, sometimes even black. The lines become bold and sometimes even roughly drawn depending on how serious it is.

Overall this is a fun, SoL manga with great art that gets serious when it needs to. The main downfall of it is that the protagonist is nothing special and the story sometimes forgets some of its plot points.

Having read both this one and the hentai version. The hentai version went on to say what happened after volume 3.
Chiyo is a Demon requested to be his older sister. In the Safe for work version it seems like she does a good job of it. Until volume 3 but the review tips say to not include spoilers so I won't.

Chiyo the demon requests something in exchange for her coming to be his sister and it took me 2 or 3 times reading it to find out what she took. Good manga Each time i read it. I did want it to go on ... longer.

The way they made the hentai scenes not hentai was basically by going up to it then cutting out the entire part that was hentai so some ecchi scenes don't make much sense. Due to how they did the censorship they could have combined like volumes 4 through 8 of the hentai version to make a volume 4.

They demon hunter girl isn't in the hentai and makes for an interesting girl in this version. Sadly when it starts to have anything involving a plot with her the safe for work version seems to just stop. Without a volume 4 no real story progression really is made with her character.

Oh boy, can't believe I'm doing my FBI agent's job for them.
Let's address the elephant in the room. Yes this was based on hentai by the same name, yes the main character is a young teenage boy, yes the older (step)sister is clearly...interested... and yes the author is a female vtuber who drew the Milfsekai.
If any of those bother you, you will most likely not like this manga. While there is no full-blown sex, there are moments where you will be like "I can't believe this isn't a Hentai", and it doesn't help that the sister's Demon form puts girls from Highschool Dxd to ... shame.
But, there is a gem here, and that is a heartfelt brother-sister relationship, and a Lovecraftian horror story (minus the racism of course). I won't break down the story or anything like that, as that is better experienced as a slow burn, but let's just say if you like Lovecraft's pantheon of monsters and gods you will like this. If you enjoy a feel-good story, where a kid finds family, home, and happiness, with twists and turns along the way, you will like this. If you enjoy highly detailed art, with panels that go from jaw-drop sexy/gorgeous to absolutely horrifying, you will like this.
There is something incredible here, and even with its drawbacks, it is 100% worth the read.
