"Honey Darling" left me with a refreshing feeling. I was happy following along enjoying the story and smiling as the two awkward characters discovered their love for each other through heartwarming scenes.
Akira (part of Homerun Ken) has amazing art. I love her semes as they are mature men with facial hair (instead of bi-shounens). Also, all her characters are not unrealistic in appearance or structure and are very appealing and dreamy.
What I like most about the manga - besides the art - is the simplicity of the events. The story is not gripping or over the top; the characters go about their business each day
learning the values of life, and other morals, only to realise that they have grown to accept each other and that, after a while, don't want anyone else in their lives.
The romance doesn't kick-in until towards the end. The manga focuses more on Chihiro trying to work out who he wants to become. The romance was almost like a surprise, to Chihiro, and to us. When Kumazawa gets forced into marriage interviews, I half-expected Chihiro to get jealous, but no, he wished Kumazawa "good luck" in finding a bride and was more worried about loosing his job as a house-keeper.
I laughed at how Chihiro determined if he liked someone though: "if I get hard, I like them" haha
I would recommend this for a uplifting boy love based around mature men who act out day-to-day activities. It has light comedy and scenes with great art.
