To every Fairy Tail fan out there, this is a must read. I was thrilled when I found out that there was a spin off on Mavis, she in my opinion is the most adorable character in the whole series.
My hopes were high, but I came to see how Fairy Tail was actually formed. The manga tackles the recurring issue of 'Friendship' in this spin off too, but with a new cast of characters. Till chapter 12, Mavis along with Precht Gaebolg the second guild master, Yury Dreyar the father of Makarov and Warrod Sequen one of the magic saints.
The manga brings new and exciting events in the current 12 chapters, the learning of magic and pain of losses.
Till now to the manga has met my hopes and kept me excited till the last page.
I request every Fairy tail fan to give this a shot.
If you haven't read of watched fairy tail, skip this manga as you won't enjoy it quite as much. read more
I'm NOT a fan of the Fairy Tail series.
In fact it's the only series I've tried to stay away from simply because in my opinion Natsu is a boring character that doesn't capture the right feeling for a series like Fairy Tail.
On the other hand Mavis does!
I read Chapter 1 like months ago just because my friend said it was worth it.
MY GOD HE WAS RIGHT!
Mavis is such an incredible character!
Her terrible story is beautifully written and the twist ending adds and develops her amazing character.
Sure if I was an active fan of FT I would have exploded from this series since it explained and showed the start of the Fairy Tail guild and it even involved Zeref somewhere.
I love Zeref's character, he's super badass and he has a soft and sweet side to himself, wanna know which over antagonist is like that?
Itachi Uchiha from the Naruto series!
I think that's why Zeref's character stood out so much to me.
Which is most likely why I dislike Natsu so much, he's pretty similar to Sasuke.
It doesn't help that I've seen Natsu having fire powers as well XD
The only this I disliked about this manga series was that is was too short.
I read the wikia and know that Mavis appears in the FT series at certain points.
I strongly suggest fans of this manga to check out any chapters of FT with Mavis in them because those specific chapters are really good!read more
Simply fantastic, can be influenced by my adoration of Mavis, but I liked much of the story with her as protagonist, Mavis is a character that is hard not to sympathize, I thought I would tell to the end the story of Mavis, but even being up the creation of the guild was actually really 13 chapters that I liked more than any major, ok some will say I'm exaggerating, but there is no words to describe how this sleeve is perfect, a summary fast it: mavis child, mavis crying, mavis happy, sad mavis, mavis in the bath, using magic mavis, mavis almost dying, so ... are many mavis.
Fairy Tail Zero is definitely a manga series that both FT and non FT fans would love to read. Having read FT and its mediocre recent arcs, this is such a sweet and short manga.
Story: This story details how FT got created and about Mavis' past. The overall plot is pretty well paced, but there is a sad twist to the end. The loose ends we tied up nicely, but still somehow leaves the reader wanting more.
Art: Classic Hiro Mashima art which is pretty spot on, as usual.
Characters: The character development is great. Especially Mavis. I'll cover just a few of the main characters below.
Mavis: In FT, she's portrayed as a happy, carefree young lady. In FT Zero, her back story is definitely revealed. I won't spoil this manga, so I can't say much.
Zera: Zera is more of a minor character of this manga, but it definitely adds to the plot.
Zeref: Zeref is not developed much through this manga as a character, but the MavisxZeref ship is definitely reinforced here. He also supports the plot a bit and pulls the plot through especially in the middle.
Precht, Yury, and Warrod: These co-founders of FT guild are all great supporting characters of FT Zero.
Geoffrey: He is a cheesy villain, very classic Mashima villain. Don't expect much from this antagonist.
Enjoyment: It's such a cute manga! Definitely a quick must read. read more
