“What kind of customer angers you the most?”
- “Those customers who come to the store”
Nietzsche-sensei: Conveni ni, Satori Sedai no Shinjin ga Maiorita is about the part-timer Matsukoma and his new co-worker at the convenience store Niitomo. Matsukoma is supposed to train Niitomo there’s just one problem: Niitomo is the greatest enemy of all customers.
Matsukoma always tries to fulfil his duty as a salesperson and therefor he serves the customers with all his might. However Niitomo- a student of the Buddhism department- is an extremely serious and expressionless person who doesn’t forgive small blunders
and doesn’t really care about customer service. Quite the contrary- the only thing he seems to enjoy a little is teasing the customers. This leads to quite funny situations between Matsukoma, Niitomo and the changing customers.
There isn’t a coherent plot and the background of the maincharacters doesn’t matter. This manga is rather similar to sketch comedy. One sketch takes one to three pages.
I permanently laughed while reading this manga for the first time. Especially Niitomo appears as an odd person you haven't seen before. Some sketches are really funny, with quotes you won’t forget. Although in my opinion with the increasing number of sketches there is less esprit (sorry, I’m obviously no native speaker so I don’t know if the last sentence is comprehensible).
To conclude if you like dry humour this manga is perfect to read occasionally.
