Nobuyuki Fukumoto is one of the quintessential authors in the world of psychological/suspense manga, but his lengthy mangaography and atypical art style may be a little intimidating for newcomers. I've compiled a list of what I would consider his core works, and a recommended reading order.

Some manga that can make you distrust anyone's intentions, because you'll get trust issues if you do take it on face value.

Number of sales and date that number was acquired from in notes for each. Some of them I have personally estimated a higher figure than the date says.

No. 162 would be Nippon no Rekishi. It's for children and I can't find it on MAL. It has 24 volumes and started in 1981, and has sold 20.2 million (March 19th, 2020).

No. 165 would be Cuffs - Kizu Darake no Chizu by Jin Tojo, and has sold 20 million (February 14th, 2022).

No. 183 would be The Tale of Genji by Waki Yamato. Couldn't find exactly which one it was she made, and has sold 20 million (May 1st, 2021).

No. 26 is Hakuryuu, which started in 1996. I have put Hakuryuu Legend instead because I could not find an earlier version.

No. 30 is Kabachitare! by Takashi Tajima & Takahiro Kochi, which started in 1999 and is ongoing with 93 volumes & 974 chapters in Weekly Morning Kodansha.

No. 34 is Inochi no Utsuwa by Kimiko Uehara, which started in 1991 and is ongoing with 89 volumes & 348 chapters in For Mrs. Akita Shoten.

No. 46 is Somubu Somuka Yamaguchi Roppeita by Norio Hayashi & Yamaguchi Roppeita, which started in 1986 with 81 volumes & 731 chapters in Big Comic Shogakukan.

Number of volumes and chapters in notes.

Okay so my favorite niche sub-genre of manga is the ones where the cast has to kill each other or participate in some sort of sick and sadistic game. I have read most of these, but it is my favorite so I figured I should share with the world, enjoy!

When you're interested in the subject of course.
Mostly due to short chapters, cliffhangers, large variety of interesting characters, emotional investment and steady plot growth.

No real structure in arrangement other than alphabetically, I just wanted Rainbow, Berserk, Megumi no Daigo and Golden Kamuy to be the 4 manga on the top row.

Release that Witch or Fangkai Nage Nuwu and Yidai Ling Hou are the only manhua so far in here.

An underdog is a person or group in a competition, usually in sports and creative works, who is largely expected to lose. The party, team, or individual expected to win is called the favorite or top dog. In the case where an underdog wins, the outcome is an upset.
