Synopsis

After making a variety of wishes during a rare meteor shower, Ariyuki returns home only to find a meteor has destroyed it. No normal meteor, but one taking the form of a young girl who declares herself a god there to grant Ariyuki's wishes.

A Manga that evokes a deeper thought about the existence and meaning of 'God'. The initial story portrays 'God' as a being who grants wishes to make people 'happy'. By endlessly giving in to their greed, creatures known as 'Star eaters' starts to appear and attack those that are consumed by their hunger for their 'wants'. The three main characters are designed in such a way that they needed 'God' to make up for their flaw.

The story ends with how they realize that the meaning of 'God' was for them to realize their flaws and accept them. To embrace their weakness and find a read more

This manga is a lot deeper than I thought it would be. It starts off pretty light, and the elements related to god are pretty nonsensical 'trying to sound scientific' mumbo jumbo, particularly when it comes to Kameji trying to explain various things, but beyond that there are some strong lessons and meanings by the end related to what being a god means, and what humanity's relationship to them should be, as well as what being normal is. It gets quite messy and there are some inconsistencies, part of which are explained away in a cheap manner, but all in all I thought it did a good job and I read more
