The anime itself is interesting but the manga is where it really shines

It is the best bl oy yaoi iv ever read ive had to re read the manga once i was finished
i highly suggest anyone who is interested to read the manga it is the best ive seen in my entire life
and i loved it,

The story was very unique with lots of development
i liked the art style of the characters it really did fit their personalitys
it was probably the most realistic one ive ever seen reaction wise they mostly reacted to situations as any other person would
i really believe others will also enjoy it.

Yeah... Love Stage!! is okay, and the only way I was able to enjoy it was to consider this as a really bad parody drama. Like, the story is actually interesting, but LS!! has many problematic tropes that unfortunately many BL stories have, and it sucks cause the plot actually has potential.

The characters are stereotypes, not really growing throughout the story, and many of the problematic things they do are laughed off-- this is labeled as comedy, but serious topics shouldn't be just laughed and brushed off.

Art is subjective, so it's not really ''bad'', I just personally don't like it.

I did kinda ... enjoy the story on the first third of the manga, but as the story progressed and characters didn't change that much, I started to lose my interest.

Overall, it's a 'meh' BL manga, and the only reason why I even read it is because many consider this being one of the series that made BL stories popular -- or something.

I have very mixed feelings about this manga. I do enjoy some aspects of the manga. There are a lot of cute and funny moments. I like the main characters (they are a cute couple) and I really like one of the side characters (Rei). The art is also pretty nice. However, the main issue I had with this manga is the amount of sexual assault and weird/uncomfortable scenes. Unfortunately, sexual assault is in quite a lot of yaoi and is a common trope. There are a lot of these moments in this manga. Some of these scenes are even played off as sweet ... or comedic moments.

Some examples of these scenes are (SPOILERS):

- Ryouma can't believe that Izumi is a male and that he is attracted to him so he tries to get rid of his feelings by confirming that Izumi is a male and he begins to rip off Izumi's clothes against his will and forces himself on him until he is stopped by another character. (He realises this was wrong and does say sorry to Izumi but still..)
- Izumi's brother (who has a weird brother complex) played with Izumi's nipples when he was a baby WTF.
- Izumi encounters some thugs who decide to confirm he is a male and again.. forcibly remove his clothes against his will. This scene wasn't necessary.
- First time Izumi and Ryouma have sex, Ryouma stops prepping Izumi because he wants to stick it in. Izumi asked him to wait but Ryouma put it in anyway (apparently he can't control himself) and then didn't stop when Izumi was in pain. Izumi just accepts this because they love each other. This unfortunately is another super common trope in yaoi.
- There is a director in the manga who is known to be a pervert who gropes and sexually assaults his actors.
- Izumi is stalked and groped by a man while getting changed.
- Izumi is kidnapped and wakes up naked in a bed. He is restrained by one man while another takes pictures. Then he is nearly raped. The reason he was kidnapped is ridiculous. And no one involved faces any real consequences.


This is not even all of the problematic scenes in the manga. None of these scenes were necessary and without these scenes the manga would have been really enjoyable. I am disappointed because this manga had the potential to be pretty good. Ultimately, I don't recommend this manga.
