So I happened to come across this manga while looking in the recommendations of the manga "Arisa" if you are a fan of that manga or "Oresama Teacher" and "Boys before Flowers" than you will definitely like this manga! This review is made after only 10 chapters of the manga.
Story (7 out of 10)- The story is very creative with having Yakuza movies inspire the characters to stop the bullying in the school. The story is very "Boys Before Flowers" -esque because of the feel of having two students going against this higher power in the school. Though there are some cliche scenes the story is very fun in my opinion.
Art (8 out 10)- The art in this story is very nice and clean in my opinion, I'd enjoyed it a lot.
Character (8 out of 10)- I love the characters of this story. The two main characters are shown in the beginning to be extremely shy and forgotten easily with such normal names that they usually compare them with the example names on tests. After the first chapter though the characters change everything even their appearances! You will definitely love the refreshing feel of the main two characters!
I thoroughly enjoyed this manga even though it is not complete yet it is off to a great start! I recommend to read it as it is a very fun read! read more
I stumbled upon this manga a while ago when searching for latest updates, and when I read the synopsis, it sparked interest but I had no expectations. However, after reading the first few chapters I realised how strong the plot was (even though it wasn't completely original) and how fresh it seemed.
As previously mentioned, it was a strong, gripping plot and it will hook you in once it introduces the problem. A case of school bullying, in which a duo of 'invisible' youths are willing to stand up against. Touches of romance, heaps of drama and humour to revive a good, meaningful shoujo. There are several mangas that are similar to Pika Ichi, such as Hana Yori Dango.
One of the best artworks I've seen, it is truly amazing. You'll be laughing when you see the hilarious expressions! It isn't so detailed that you must stare at each page admiringly and forget the whole storyline, but it is satisfying and adds to the enjoyment.
The male and female leads used to be what you'd call 'forgettable' and 'unnoticed' but once they witnessed the bullying, they quickly came out of their shells and built strong characters. The main bully is some what mysterious and at first you'd probably feel hate for him, but later on you'll definitely want to know more about him and his past. I came to love them all, especially the eccentric school doctor who helps the hero and heroine introduce justice to the school.
I enjoyed this manga for its freshness, the clear and compelling storyline, the great artwork and the determination of the characters. It was amusing, some moments are tense enough so you could hear your heartbeat, and of course the humour and cliff-hangers would make you mad with impatience for more.
Overall, I would seriously love to give this a 10, but it is too soon, so an 8 it will have to be. A great manga to read! read more
overall it's a 10/10 for me, i thoroughly enjoyed it when i was reading it. It's so frickin cute, and plus it's not cliche like the usual popular-boy-falls-for-unpopular-girl.
The art work, to me, is amazing. Even the extras looks cute, it's like this person is unable to draw ugly looking or bad looking people.
Only thing is, the whole story line itself is a little overused, with the (SPOILERS ALERT...maybe) elite school bullying and the school's principal's son is a prick with the fighting and what not, it's a bit too predictable. But, like I said, it's very VERY cute, and it might be something nice if you want a slow, cute romanceread more
Pika Ichi is about two students Torau and Hanako who see the corruption in a school they love and their high sense of honor and justice makes them band together to help reform the school.
This story has some cliches like the elite school with arrogant elitist students is hardly a road untraveled, but the way it is portrayed is done in a non conventional way in that even though it's a shoujo manga it has a slightly shonen edge that really sets it apart from other series. You get all the perks of shoujo (Romance, school life, comedy, etc.) with the added edge of the action and principle of shoennen.
The art is very striking it has a very strong edge to it that often just slaps me in the face when I turn the page it goes kinda like this... reading, reading, tooooo much beauty OW!
The characters in this book have only one cliche they have the sudden transformation from unnoticeable to strikingly beautiful cliche but being as its done in a truly BA way it can hardly be held against them. The main characters have a sense of honor and justice that you usually only find in shonen because characters in shoujo make a lot of their decisions based off of emotions rather than principle so having this rational equally strong pairing was very refreshing.
This manga is very enjoyable. I had plenty of HA HA, AAAAAHHH, and THATS RIGHT moments while reading this manga. its just a fun adventure to read.
Every aspect of this manga was well done. Its unique edge sets it apart from the crowd and makes it a refreshing and fun read. I'm definitely going to keep reading the chapters as they come out and enjoy each one.read more
