Synopsis

Since the government announced the existence of people with "special powers" 10 years ago, Susumu Shindou has longed for his own amazing abilities. However, he finds himself to be nothing but an average 15-year-old. Then one day, during his high school entrance ceremony, a power finally awakens inside him...but it's not exactly the kind he'd always hoped for!

The strongest point of this manga is how well the author fleshes out each power, so if you like stretching the effects of a power to the absolute extreme, this is a fun read. Its weakest points are the fleshing out of characters and the deeper, more somber moments. I feel the author does a good job with humor, but more serious moments feel sappy and cheesy. I haven't found a character I really like, probably because the MC starts off as a bumbling idiot, and the manga is more focussed on the powers and growth of the MC. The story is pretty predictable but I liked that the MC had a weird superpower, The art was impressive at first, especially in the beginning but it quickly got underwhelming later on in the story. The characters could've been WAY better but that was due to the series being axed, interesting characters that were just introduced where never expanded upon, The MC got a insane power boost at the end with no proper reasoning, interesting characters were left untouched and were never actually given a proper introduction.

What this story could've been is a better MHA. One with more stakes. The beginning of the story seemed to be leading to something like that with the MC having been in a darker state of mind. Instead, it got axed early and ended on a much more upbeat note that is left open for us to think about which isn't bad on its own but also not good. This had potential.
