It's a good comedy series, but if you're just reading Mr. Fullswing for the gags you might find yourself a bit weirded out by the latter volumes (21-24). They're still funny, but the story goes in a lot more serious direction. Thought with what's translated (until Chapter 65 I believe) you should see this tonal shift incoming if you really think about it.
Honestly? With what's translated you should clearly be able to see if you like the series or not. The serious tones are there, the gags are there... The character design DOES get a little bit better down the line alongside the art and how the whole "succesor to Mr. Fullswing" approach is taken, but that's almost at like... Vol. 16-17, I believe.
Though, that's just me. If you like baseball series with a litte bit of Shonen Jump references sprinkled in there (like EARLY shonen jump series don't expect Naruto or even One Piece lmfao), Mr. Fullswing should be alright. Grand Blue fans (2 lazy to check if u liked it) should also be able to like the overall just batshit insane gags too.
