This romance manga might seem predictable but is very interesting. I can't help to continue reading, well I ended up staying up all night reading all of it in one day. I really love how the story goes.

The story is about a guy, not brave enough to confess to his crush, and ended up looking stalking her through binoculars everyday (talk about lame). Then he met a girl who's for some reason wants to help him to confess. Well, talking about main chara like that of course he refused at first, but ended up dancing at the girl's hands for some reason.

As the story goes ... the main chara becomes cool-headed and for some reason quite the ladykiller (I would love the manga so much if it does happen though). I love how he becomes brave enough to actually wants to solve his own problems rather than being helped (A man). More and more the mystery unsolved and unexpected moment. But somehow I feel like the characters live with never-ending conflicts, as one conflict ended means that one conflict is starting, it goes on a cycle. That what makes it interesting though, especially when the characters and conflicts feel realistic. Talk about broken hearts everywhere.

The ending is satisfying enough but I think they can make it better, like prolonging the chapter, show us more happy moments won't you (quite stressful). And in overall I think this manga is really interesting. I ended up giving 10 because I really enjoyed this manga, and now it won't get out of my mind #I want more yuuuukiiiiiiii!!??

(Spoiler Free) This manga was simply a wild ride with a satisfying (yet somewhat rushed) ending.

A little bit less emotional (subjectively for me) than Kimi no Iru Machi or Domestic na Kanojo, but still full of expected drama, twists and turns, and sighs of relief.

Let's dive right in.

Story - 7/10

The story has its ups and downs, and I'd say that averages out to a 7/10. The reason is because certain arcs execute better than others, and certain plot elements make more sense than others. Near the beginning, it picks up well, as mysteries about Yuki are kept hidden and we see some bit of drama ... involving Shou, Seiji, and others. The chapters are well-written to the extent of what is expected, and there's pretty much a cliffhanger at the end of every single chapter, which had me glued as a reader.

Now, once we reach that mid-portion of the manga until its ending, there were certain times I thought made no logical sense or felt rushed. The breakups and heartbreaks were definitely hard to bare as a reader, but they also need to have some logical context - more than what was given. Certain times made me go, "Wow, I can't believe that happened..." in both good and bad ways.

As mentioned, the ending was satisfying as (mostly) everyone's favorite couple ended up together, but there were too many cliches (one's you'd find in a shounen romcom or romance + drama), and the last chapter was pretty much a time-skip speed run.

Art - 7/10

Sasuga Sensei's art took some getting used to at first, as the character designs were not what I was typically used to. What's definite, however, is that most of us readers seemingly got used to the art style rather quickly, as perhaps we were too absorbed in the drama and the story to really care. I personally prefer the style of Seo Sensei's Kimi no Iru Machi, but that's just a minor opinion - every mangaka has their own unique style, after all!

Characters - 8/10

The characters in my opinion were the best component of this manga. Yes - we don't exactly get the full rationale or picture behind some actions/decisions, but we get enough context to develop good emotional attachment or opinions towards certain characters. The main MCs - Seiji and Yuki - display conspicuous development in both decision-making and maturity, with the former (Seiji) showing immense growth - enough for me to have my full support no matter what decision he makes.

The characters all go through elements of reality, which aligns with the theme of realistic romance in GE.

One thing I disliked was the lack of conclusive material or rationale behind the endings for some of our other main characters, including Shou, Tsukasa and Risa. You'll have to read it yourself to see if you agree :)

Overall/Enjoyment - 7/10

The plot elements and rollercoaster we got reminded me a lot of Kimi no Iru Machi, and if you've read both GE and KNIM, I think you'll get what I mean. However, at the end of the day, I was still heavily glued to this manga and its characters, and I think the drama and plot twists introduced were enough to make this manga unique and enjoyable.

I definitely recommend folks, especially those on the romance/drama train, to give this a try!

Story: Despite it's title, this series has it's fair amount of heartache. It started off good with dating tips and fooling around in school. Gradually, the school environment fades as characters are exposed to different surroundings. However, the plot takes a sudden turn near to the end. I will not elaborate on how I found this development, but it was acceptable.


Art: Al I can say is that the expressions are drawn beautifully. Especially Yuki's smile.


Character: Nearly all characters were engaging and held my interest, although it is vital to remember that the character’s reactions are occasionally highly unrealistic. Please remember this is fiction. Real life ... people may not react like this or rather, forgive this easily. Thank you.
That aside, the MC isn't a lifeless, dense puppet. He has emotion and I did care about him throughout most of the series. He also tries to foresee and attend to as many problems before they occur. However, he made a total of two horrible mistakes, one that was settled in such a way that I couldn't believe he got away with it.


Enjoyment:
Do you dislike...characters who run away when things get tough?
-Let it be known that half the time this happens, they will eventually be chased down and confronted

Do you dislike...protagonists who confess at the very end of the story?
-GE: Good Ending focuses equally on the pains of getting into a relationship and the effort in maintaining one. In other words, there are no moments where someone is about to confess and some stupid event happens and they chicken out. (Or at least none that actually annoyed me)

Do you dislike...main characters who freak out in every ecchi/sexy situation?
-This story also discusses the importance of sex in relationships. Though the story is not averse to situations where sexual tensions run high, the way characters handle them are entertaining. Although one might think: Really? They're still in friggin' school!


Overall:
After finishing it (in 4 days) I was happy yet disappointed for the blissful lack of realism. I dislike seeing characters in pain but throughout the series, the theme seems to repeat itself; in romance, there will be winners, there will losers, while some find joy, others will burn in their despair.
Thus, I found the ending too convenient. But then again, it's fiction.

Before diving into my review of "GE Good Ending," there's something you should know about my background. I'm relatively new to the world of anime and manga. While I did watch some anime during my childhood—those listed on my profile—I have no prior experience with reading manga. "GE Good Ending" is, in fact, the first manga I've ever read. I initially stumbled upon it in the summer of 2012 but stopped reading halfway for some inexplicable reason. Four years later, I found myself searching for this manga, even though I had forgotten its name. All I remembered were the names Yuki and Touru, and that's ... how I rediscovered it. I'm glad I read it now rather than back then, as I was able to complete it this time.

I mention all this because it may influence your perception of my review. While I may not have extensive experience in this genre, I've done my best to relate the story to real-life emotions and appreciate how the author has captured the nuances of love so accurately. So please keep this context in mind while reading my review.

"GE Good Ending" resonates with me on a deeply personal level. Though I haven't read many other romance mangas, author Sasuga Kei has succeeded in capturing the essence of love, attachment, and raw emotion. The story navigates the intricate labyrinth of feelings—from crushes to true love to casual affections—so authentically that it struck chords within me. The narrative is a rollercoaster of emotions, filled with highs and lows, joys and sorrows, confusions and clarities. It's a well-crafted tale that will forever hold a special place in my heart, and I believe it will captivate any reader seeking genuine emotional depth.

The story is thoughtfully constructed, with a beautiful portrayal of true love, a nuanced understanding of the difference between a crush and genuine affection, and a balanced backstory for its characters. While reading, you may find moments that tug at your heartstrings, but rest assured, the ending justifies the journey. Life is not a series of coincidences; everything has a purpose, a lesson. And this manga, like life itself, is a treasure trove of such lessons.

P.S. - From day one, I was Team Yuki, captivated by her allure. That's not to say I didn't appreciate Shou; she had her moments that made me ponder. But as the story unfolded, it became clear that the line between a crush and true love is often blurred, yet profoundly significant. This manga taught me that love may start as a confusing whirlwind, but it eventually finds its course, especially if it's the right kind of love.

Good ending doesn't deserve the name un my opinion. Like the pther project of Susuga Kei, I've realized her stories are amazing and entertaing until an specific point where the upside downs start. And finally, the ending is average, a lot of no sense situations which make everything easy to get together the main couple, not like a real cliche, but all the fantastic story falls down.

Although, as I was saying, you can enjoy all the manga, actually it's more mature than another romantic dramas. You can find people taking seriously the love.

The characters well developed nearly each one, nothing out of this world but ... the personalities and their side stories are there and are interesting.

The art is terrific, the level of the graphics and draws incresing in every chapter. In the last ones, you can really feel the emotions of the protagonists and the scenes are very exciting.

If you love the romantic dramas, definetly this manga is for you. But, being honest, Susuga Kei isn't the best finishing mangas jaja.

Good Ending is a nice manga, it's like a romance story with a shonen final. If you already read Domestic na Kanojo, it's easy to see Sasuga's development, so the art is (obviously) not as good as Dome na Kano.

Although this does not make this manga bad or anything like that, the first half of the story is not so engaging as the last half, but the fact that the mains characters are antagonists at the beggining is very interisting. The character developmente is well done, excluding some secondary, it's a very good feature of the manga.

The final is a little ... fast, but not enough to call it "rushed" as Dome na Kano (that final was a crime). It's definetely a final that will make you smile.

I will not extend so much here, if you like a good romance with a famous Sasuga Kei drama, you should really read it.

Such a long story with lots of unpredictable ways on it.
Every person was shown from differen positions, so i got them all as real human bengs.
Things they have done were as usual as if u would do the same at their position.
Not many tempates or school routine with dumb festivals on it, just the story.

Having had this MAL account for more than 2 years I’ve decided to make my first review.

Good Ending, as the title implies, has a good ending (maybe???). I guess that’s enough, right? However, how they got to that ending is a wonderful rollercoaster of emotions and a story one should not pass up on.

Don’t let the synopsis fool you, there’s more to it than what it says, it doesn’t really do the manga justice, but I guess by not letting much details out, you would be more invested in the story. The one shot was amazing. The story was simple, compact and somewhat cliché but ... it struck a chord as it showed a situation that could happen to anyone. With this high expectations, I read through the whole manga, completely binge-read it within half a day, and I was damn completely satisfied. What all the characters endured were so organic that you would feel that you’re part of their group and their lives.

Story - 9/10
There were some parts I didn’t particularly like as it felt rushed and unnatural and the last arc threw me a bit off. There were also times that I felt the story dragged on a bit too much. However, the sequence of events felt natural as if one were to experience new problems in real life.

Art - 8/10
The art is simple yet the character designs are memorable. One can feel the emotions expressed on each of the characters’ faces.

Characters - 10/10
Obviously the strong points of the manga, all main characters were fleshed out and all of the reasons for their actions were believable. They make you want to root for all of them to be happy. The side characters were also great and their interactions were fun however, Oonuma seemed unnecessary to the plot. She still gets a bit of development at the end though.

Enjoyment - 11/10
The interactions of the main characters moved me so deeply as I could fully relate to what they’ve been through with all their relationships and the interactions between Seiji, Yuki and Shou struck me as they seemed too real for me. It felt as though I myself made their decisions since I understood the reasoning behind them and I was almost in the same situations as them. All their little encounters either made you jump for joy or sulk in sadness. By reading this manga as I felt as though I too, have lived a complete and satisfying life.

Overall - 10/10
I enjoyed GE too much as I could see myself in the characters and the decisions they made, especially those things about half-heartedness and the insecurities of having dreams for the sake of his/her partner. This manga also showed the importance of relationships, not only the romantic ones but also the friendships. One thing I really admired and was constant throughout the manga was the bond between Seiji, Izumin, Kouno and Eri. Despite all of Seiji’s problems and the burden he carried, it was his friends who stuck with him to the end. Because of his good nature and sincerity, he had true friends which helped him in his relationships, something I wish I had back then. Anyway, just the last panel alone of the 156th chapter makes the whole reading experience worthwhile and I can’t say I wasn’t moved to tears because of it.

I have poured enough of my emotions in this single review since it’s the least I could do for this awesome manga. I wholeheartedly recommend Good Ending to anyone and everyone.

Good Ending is a manga that sometimes i can describe like a good work with some flaws. First of all i can say it has a story with a linear narrative moved fundamentally by romance, drama and comedy which give it a tone sometimes light sometimes a little bit heavy.

In some points the story can become really unpredictable although it follows an scheme usually used in another mangas taking place in schools. The pacing is okey and not particulary fast or slow, maybe some parts of the story could have been compressed and are not really necessary, and the ecchi can be become annoying ... on ocassion.

The comedy usually works but in some points ruins the drama (this doesn't happen often) becoming in an anticlimatic scene, the drama when is good made is actually very effective and it can become a good incentive to view this manga, although some reactions and some events can become a little bit unrealistic, the romance is actually the most fundamental aspect of this manga and is well done and is understandable on the most importante of the cases so this is one the strong points of this story, it feels natural and give it the sensation of love that everyone expects to watch in a romance story.

Ironically the ending isn't good at all, this must be the most weak aspect of the manga because it doesn't feel natural, it feels forced and unnecessary and the epilogue...well it can't be called conclusion at all.

The art is good, isn't generic and is easily recognized.

Usually the main cast have both virtues and flaws (except one whice is actually a Gary Stu) their reactions usually are adequate to situation and feels really realistic in the best. By the character side everyone has some kind of development, while the main trio has a good development very consistent with the circumstances, even the supporting characters have.

The characterization is good enough to able to distinguish every character and everyone have certain complexity, even they have an adequate backstory wich is consistent with their actions.

In conclusion i really liked this manga and i think it's really good, you should watch it if you like drama or romance.

This was an addicting series. I binge read the entire thing in about 5 hours. All 158 chapters.

Just let me start off and say that I don't read many romances, if not any. This one was particularly heart warming to me since it is one of the first romances where romance is the main genre.

If you're not experiences with Romance manga and decide to read this, please do. You'll be pleasantly surprised.

Also, I would like to add that I'm rating this according to my experience with Romance manga, which is none (practically none), and my experience with other romance manga with ... romance as a "sub" genre (ex: Nisekoi).

Story: 10

It's a little slow in the beginning, but it eventually picks up pace really nicely. I did like how the story turned out. If you tank through the first 10-20 chapters, you'll end up enjoying it a lot.

Art: 10

The art is beautiful here. It's very constant, the characters look amazing though some of the men do suffer from the "same face" syndrome we find in manga styles. You won't notice it until you have a side-by-side comparison though.

If I did have a complaint, it was during this one front page scene where the main character (girl) was drawn smiling, but her mouth was unnaturally big (about half her face). Besides that surreal moment, which wasn't even in the main story (it's just a front cover), the art is pretty darn realistic.

Characters: 10

They're very realistic and they deal with realistic themes. The main character, when he actually grows a spine, is quite relatable to people who have no idea how to interact with women (e.g: me).

Enjoyment: 10

I binge read this in the middle of the night. It's 2:10AM right now. Tell me, what does that tell you?

It was very enjoyable but a little tedious in the beginning. I really like it but, as I will guess from other romances, it's going to be hard on my heart.

I would recommend this to everyone, even those who don't frequently read romances. As long as they're willing to try out something new, I'd recommend this to anyone and everyone who is looking for a good romance manga to start off with.

I have read quite a lot of stories about romance but I must say that GE: Good Ending is the most realistic romance story that I have ever read. The characters all have their own personalities that the audience can get attached too and the relationships between the characters are very emotional driven, especially the two main characters. Easily the best anime/manga couple out there for how real the relationship develops between these two and how the audience are allowed to see it progress and how they both change and develop as characters because of the relationship they have with each other. A powerful story ... that has made me cry on more then one occasion.

I got sucked into this manga and read this in a couple days, it was so filled with love and drama I kept trying to stop and pace myself. This manga's protagonists really grew on me and reminded me of myself so I grew to love this manga more than I should of. When it ended, I teared up a bit. In my opinion, it was way better than Kimi Iru Machi (A Town Where You Live). Each chapter I read made me want to know more and was perfectly paced with the drama, though some say it might be dragging on, I thought it ... synced well with the protagonist's state of mind. I found the atmosphere of the story very pleasing and really made me felt as if I was there. You begin to sympathize with characters and sometimes against their decisions which makes the hype for the next chapter greater. I found the genuine love between the protagonist and lover very touching and sweet with the hardships they faced together. The only thing I didn't feel made it complete was the rush towards the last 3 chapters, but the 158.5 Chapter that recently came out really made the manga complete. I would love an anime adaptation because of the cliff hangers it might produce to grab the audiences attention. Overall, It's a magnificent and beautiful piece of work with dramatic twists on every turn, but also demonstrates the struggles and hardships of romance in such a compelling way until the end, when it shows that love is precious and can overcome anything for the one you truly love.

You know, rated it 7 at first, but after some thought lowered it t 6. I have a bit of a sweet spot for "broken" characters. There are aspects I hate regarding them (where they end up doing stupid things) yet can't help myself liking them for some aspects. Now the reason why I put this under "story" ?, simple enough. It's about a girl, what had a bit of a past and issues, thus locking herself from trust. We got a main guy who is reaching ... for love.

Now I cannot say much without spoiling so I will keep the key points. It's sweet story with lot of stupid drama, inability of honesty, hiding the truth, lies. As well various past events that are quite idiotic at times. Story did have for the most part progression, love and drama. But certain drama plot points did anger me a fair amount. (will add spoiler'type comments to "comment" section in the list entry).

Anyhow, good enough love story, but typical drama stupidity that I'm not fond of.

Broken chick with issues, main guy of fresh love adventure, senpai that likes douche, senpai that comes crawling back some sidekicks whose existence I do not remember and some loose chicks, playboys and morons. Overall, did like main 2 girls, main guy was average and rest I mostly did not like. In another words, fair enough cast.

I love romance, I love vanilla romance, my moral compass is vanilla romance, I hate loose relationships/superficial/short-term/one-night-stands or whatever. Manga did balance it, thankfully for the most side the side I hate consisted of sidekicks. In another words, it was fine enough manga, enjoyed it, but wasn't particularly as impressed.

My first thought of this manga was: "Oh, ecchi and harem. The main character must be weak and suck." And it was true during the early chapters.

But then, halfway through, I just cannot stop clicking on the "next" chapter because I am really curious on how things turn out. There's a lot of misunderstanding and tears, and sometimes I can't help but want to slap the girls, but the point is, all those annoying conflicts will help them to be a better person.

The plot is simple, right? Afterall, there are many manga about high school life, romance, chasing after dreams, and building a future with ... a person you love. Still, within that simple plot, comes good story with good ending smile.

I always love a story with character growth, and GE: Good Ending absolutely has that element. Of course, I'm not interested with the ecchi part, and the story itself doesn't have that much fanservice on the latest chapters, thanks to my relief ,lol. Welp, some might realise on how the story is kinda rushed, but it's acceptable for me.

I love how the characters find their own "good endings" in the end of the story. Yuki is a strong girl at first, but as we continue on with the story, it turns out that she has a weak and lonely side. On contrary, Shou is a cheerful girl but even she can gets emotional and hate someone.

It was a normal manga to me. But then, it suddenly turns one of the mangas I like more. The epilogue wraps everything all. And I feel very satisfied and with a great smile.

First thing first, if you're not interested in romance and drama, this manga is not for you. There's a lot of romance, a lot of drama and oh boy is it good.

For the story, it isn't to complicated Boy A likes Girl A, Girl B helps him, in some point in time Boy A starts liking more Girl B and the drama starts.
Is really simple but the execution is really good, the pace of the story is good, maybe a little rush in the final chapters, i would have liked to see more of the relationship between Utsumi and Kurokawa and maybe more development with ... the side characters (specially the relationship of Oonuma and Izumi) but overall is good, really good.

Now that i mention the characters, they're really good, Utsumi, is a really good MC, is not annoying like many romance anime MC and Kurukawa is really cute and intriguing, Shou made me mad, but is good because her character at some point made me mad and feel the story.
And about the secondary characters, all of them are good and really flesh out and they have their time to shine and give a conclusion to their problems, like i said i would have like to see more but overall they're all good and one more important thing,is that, they all act coherent, like a normal person of their age may act and that's something to appreciate.

There were some things in the story that i didn't like how they ended, most of it, because a person do that in real life, they would have gone to jail or getting kill or were to damn cliche, but there were little bumps in the story and are easily dismissed.
Also i have to note, that, some may say that there's a focus on tennis that is true, but is more of a plot device, you don't actually watch their tournaments, in that regard, and this are maybe spoilers, but you will see more baseball and photography than tennis.
Also a neutral point for me, the story is set in high school, so that may o may not be appealing for you.

Moving on to the art, well, is good, simply that good. Kei Sasuga really knows how to make cute girls, but sometimes, some of the boys, look weird, and somehow not really good proportionate, specially in the first chapters, but it gets better. Overall is good, not to much to talk about it.

In conclusion, i really enjoy it. It really hook me up, and wasn't unable to stop reading. I wasn't so sure that i will like it, but it really got me, it made mad, it made me sad, it made me really happy, it has some problems but they're little bumps that may be subjective.

Is a must read if you like romance and drama in general.

This is the first time i'm writing a review after 5 years in MAL, i think that GE motivated me to do so because it is an awesome manga and it's not a popular romance. Talking about the manga itself, GE brought a lot of enjoyment, i read it really fast, although i don't like much reading. The point about GE is that the characters are changing with time, and their feelings too, all characters are well developed and has its place in the right time, Sasuga Kei did an awesome work in this manga, and i think you'll enjoy it much, it's worth ... a try!

Good Ending starts slowly but then becomes frenetic. Personally there were parts that almost took me out some tears, the author explores very well the feelings, desires, reflections of the characters. Maybe something bad about this manga are some little ridiculous parts but they do not affect too much.

It is strange to know that there is not an adaptation to the anime of a pretty decent manga.

If I compare it with Domestic Na Kanojo (which is the recent work of the author) I would say that Good Ending is better because it seems to me that it has a more complex plot and because it ... feels more the drama, the suffering of the characters also that does not lend itself Much of the echii as Domestic Na Kanojo.

Yes, yes ... Good Ending could be little cliche in some parts. As a conclusion: GE is a manga that is worth reading and enjoying. 9/10

This manga was absolutely beautiful. It had tons of background meaning and though I viewed the characters in a way that most other readers didn't I think it is one of the best romances I've ever seen.. That's speaking for both anime and manga. I would recommend this to anyone as it incorporates a little bit of every genre. If I were asked who the best mangaka is I'd say Hajime Isayama, but if I were to be asked my favorite mangaka, I'd undoubtedly reply Sasuga Kei- Sensei. Domestic na Kanojo came after this and ... got an anime adaptation; I think Good Ending would do just as well as Dome x Kano If it got a anime adaptation aswell, The key difference between the two is that one has a clear path one doesn't, one has a happy ending where as the other doesn't. Lots of people had different ships, couldn't stand the NTR, or were just fed up with the patheticness the characters sometimes had and dropped it but I'm positive they would've really enjoyed if they read to the end. Chapters 1-80 were packed with good writing and lots of strong emotion, from around Chapters 90 - 120 it was pathetic, the writing had became cliche and dull, the characters were to wishy washy, the story didn't have any clear progression. This was fixed with Chapters 130ish to the end of the story... lots of chara development and story advancement, some would say the ending was rushed and I think they're reasonable to say so, but I also saw no reason for the beast of a mangaka that is Sasuga Kei- Sensei, to drag out this manga any longer and overall I was quite satisfied with the ending.

One of the first romance mangas I read and recently re read so thought I’d drop a review. In my opinion, it’s a good manga with some good romance elements in it and a happy ending. However you won’t like to read it if you don’t like manga that is very tropey. (many scenes involve slipping and falling on top of each other etc). There is also quite a lot of unnecessary drama at times and the MC can be a bit stupid (this clears up near the end) and make you cringe at some of the actions he takes to try get his ‘good ... ending’ as well as a certain character that I’m sure everyone comes to hate when reading due to how interfering they are. I’d still recommend this manga to those interested however as even considering the bad points I stated above, there is also some good drama, funny moments and also quite a bit of enjoyment to be gained from reading it.

Good Ending was a fun read. It does a good job in avoiding a lot of the common pitfalls of other manga of similar genres through realistic human interactions. When misunderstandings happened, instead of throwing away relationships or giving up, the characters would work things out between each other and ask help from their friends to get a better perspective.

However because this manga genre requires drama to continue the story, Good Ending overloaded with way too many unrealistic situations to create drama in relationships.

The art felt a little dated and there wasn't too much fan service aside from covers which aren't really related to ... the story. It's hard to say that the art isn't good since it does its job but definitely doesn't feel modern.

For me the side characters were more fun than the main characters and love interests who seemed a little one dimensional. Outside of the main character who showed growth throughout the manga (although for the first 2/3 of the manga, he was too wishy washy and found himself in too many misunderstandings and situations that should've been cleanly resolved by stating his interest), the other love interests were very 1 dimensional. I liked the side pairing of Kouma and Eri!

I did like the ending and pairing in the end which I won't spoil but after the first half or third of the manga, it did dip a bit. It was still enough of a hook to finish the manga in one weekend and if you don't take it too seriously (which you really shouldn't in this kind of genre), then it can be a fun time.
