Yeah I try to branch out and explore different genres. It's extra exciting to find something very good from a genre that you considered to be "not your thing". For example I never thought yuri would be something I would enjoy, but I found it to be very appealing. I never found the "sports" genre to be exciting, but Ashita no Joe, a boxing manga, is my favorite manga by miles. Exploring different genres can be very rewarding :)

Quality of dialogue hmm... I guess it makes sense considering the amount of romances that you read. "The skill to communicate an environment or character's history or feelings through interaction between characters is something I admire". Hmm...... I'll recommend Sakamichi no Apollin. I'll also try Orange Marmalade the next time I feel like reading a romance.

Totally agree with you on violence. Also agree with you on terraForMars, it starts off exciting but I feel like it lost its way after the first bit. And the explanations of characters started growing cumbersome imo.

I guess for a recommendation, try checking out Sakamichi no Apollon or Ashita no Joe :p

I'm glad you enjoyed it :)
haha yeah it does try to be realistic, so it's definitely not the manga you want to read to "have a fun time" or to experience something that "never happened in your life" (like harems, tragic love stories)
But that's why I personally really like the slice of life genre - they focus on characters going through "ordinary life", and growing through it, and I find the relatability of the stories and characters to increase my enjoyment of manga.

I think I got the idea that you're older from your first message, something along the lines of, "I'm an old person so I'm not easily disturbed by gore" ;)

Malaysia - that's the place where Kim Jong-Un's brother just died? xD
Kuragehime - no idea haha, never read it :p

Sorry for the belated response - I hope you enjoyed your belated (second) New Year!

haha yeah I used to be much more pushy before. But then I realized people getting pushed into reading manga ruins the experience for them ;( That is, unless the manga is super good :)

haha Hayate the Combat Butler might not have been the best starting manga. It is a very funny manga though. The first chapters are gold.

Have fun with Chinese New Year ~ Unfortunately, Americans don't get a three week New Years ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Not trying to be pushy, but Kakukaku is the top #28 manga on mal ;) Also, I'm kinda curious how an older person would react to this manga lol

Freesia is really weird and confusing - but its black humor and unique style really got to me :p I'm glad you enjoyed it :)

Glad to hear you're still reading :D
I'll recommend two short ones
Omoide Emanon - Romance story, and one of my favorite single-volume manga
Kakukaku Shikajika - An autobiographical manga depicting the life of the manga author (of this manga), and her struggles to become a mangaka/ life in general. Quite a tear jerker, 5 volumes long
