7.1/10
I actively avoid Mecha stories solely because they aren’t interesting to me. Despite that, I still gave this a shot and was pleasantly surprised in some parts, but my bad expectations were fulfilled in another part.
For the good: some of the characters are well explored and add a nice “flare” to the story with their personalities and development. However, just as many bad characteristics appear in each character like their forced “bad boy” personality and some exchanges being a bit rough around the edges (awkward).
The pacing is also pretty janky while each chapter doesn’t have a clear direction of flow into the next
...
— it’s an awkward read. Despite the occasional lows of the story, there are certainly some highlights with the engaging plot, but like noted before, it’s pretty hard to follow, like the art. In each battle scene, there are the obvious Mechas, but it’s hard to distinct each main character’s mechas from others, so the battle scenes are a whole lot of nothing and mindless scrolling.
I might’ve been too lenient with the score due to my inexperience with Mecha stories, however, there are some elements in the story that are pretty entertaining to read despite all of its rushed and avoidable flaws.
