I'm so happy this is getting an anime!! Definitely one of my favourite reads!!

The storyline is toptier, it's highly enjoyable to read if you enjoy sj series. If you want something that's HxH mixed with spyxfamily this is the one for you. There is an overall plot that was revealed well over time with each arc, and every character has their own importance that gets fleshed out in the series. Taiyou's (male mc) character is highly likeable and so are the rest of the Yozakuras. It's not another 'boy saves world' manga, it's heartfelt, comedic, and all the characters have great chemistry.

The characters are ... extremely likeable like i stated before. The chemistry between them all is amazing, and the the manga well-balances it's focus on the bond between the Yozakura family in having them shine dynamically, rather than just Taiyou (male mc) paired with everyone else. I really grew to love the side characters outside of the Yozakura family.

The pacing is great! This manga definitely does not drag out their fight scenes, which I love. Everyone might think differently with me on this, but they have fight scenes where it's not a full chapter of straight punches. The arcs conclude cleanly and connect well towards the overall plot. It's not repetitive and it's not dumbfoundedly predictible either.

I could argue that this manga is less secretive spy-wise as it suggests. They don't cover any plot where they're 'hiding from the real world' except for when Taiyou and Mutsumi are in school. Most of the plot happens within the spy world. You can see the fact they have supernatural skill as an added plus. It opens pathways for the characters to evolve in their skills, and hone in on the prestige carried with the Yozukura blood. It adds flavour to the fight scenes similar to HxH.

It's definitely mainstream material and something I'd highly reccomend to people if they enjoy the shounen train. Can't wait to see how this series evolves as it gets an anime!

This is far from being a bad series; one that doesn’t deserve an outpouring of negative reaction in any way. In truth, it blends comedy and action, stakes and insanity in a hyperactive but solid story. It contains a sweet supportive relationship at the core, much better handled than a catalogue of past and present Jump stories that handle such couplings with either immaturity or passivity.

Moments of Taiyo’s and Mutsumi’s declarations of love for each other move me enough to hope the best for their futures. Could we have more evidence for why they feel the way they do? Sure, but it’s not a ... black mark on the series as a whole to say there is no depth of feeling there. What ultimately keeps this series from being one I wholeheartedly endorse is ironically its inability to commit to its moments. Subjectively, action with humour is a better ratio than comedy with violence.

Episodic slice of life moments don’t so much fertilise character than stabilise what we already know. Arcs of intense action move the story forward but are often convoluted in exposition and invariably blossom into clashes of supernatural-scientific powers. It’s not that their isn’t value in the outcomes of these sequences but the gratification isn’t always felt. The landing isn’t as smooth as one would expect but in the end we do arrive at our next destination and are still eager to see what’s ahead.

Mission Yozakura Family has all the qualities of a must read series. Loveable characters, a sweet relationship we root for, stakes that are upped as we go along. And yet it falls short of hitting the mark at times in its precarious balance of comedy/slice of life/action, not always striking emotional resonance beats along with engrossing battles where the outcome is much too predictable. In the end, unfortunately, like any flower, it will have its moment in the sun, beautiful and appreciated then wilt and die and most likely forgotten and replaced with the next one out of the bunch.
