Synopsis

The novel The Saint Beloved by the Prince is set in the land of Lacia, where spirits control the elements, each of which is overseen by a "Spirit King." On rare occasions, these Spirit Kings may bless a single human, granting them immense magical control over their respective element. The heroine, Amelia Logan, and the villainess, Claudia Leitzya, are two sides of the same coin, blessed by the Light and Dark Spirit Kings respectively. However, while Amelia is beloved, Claudia is hated and rejected due to her dark skin, ebony locks, and aptitude for dark magic.

After dying in modern-day Japan, Sakura is reborn as an infant Claudia. While difficult at first, Claudia tries to adjust to this new life, all the while accompanied by the Dark Spirit King Gerald. But even this task is far from easy; people fear her at first glance, no matter how she acts toward them. Still, Claudia is set on changing her fate from the novel, proving she is a good person and breaking free from the shackles of a "villainess."

Preliminary (9/21 eps)
This story hasn’t really had the chance to expand itself to far yet so this rating may change depending on where it succeeds or fails but as of now it’s fairly enjoyable. It’s a decently by the numbers isekai where a character is born in a situation or with a power that makes them a possible target but despite being somewhat predictable so far the story is pretty enjoyable. It’s not a masterpiece but it’s something decently interesting and fun to pass the time. I’m hopeful it will only improve going forward and am curious how they will handle the rival character. All in all ...

Mixed Feelings
Preliminary (12/21 eps)
(Changed my rating a bit i guess but probably still not going to pick it up, you can read the end edit to see why i did i guess lol)

I really liked this and it was an enjoyable read. However, I give this a horrible score because of the absurdity that happens mid-story.

The main character is pretty well written and I completely hated the antagonists. Her parents annoyed the heck out of me and I completely hated the heroine character. The male lead was okay, but it was meh since I don't really even remember him compared to the god of darkness.

The art was ...

Spoiler
I gave this manga a 3/10. But I am only writing this review to address the criticism people lob at this series for being 'racist' or 'colorist.' On the one hand, I will happily concede that the mangaka has stumbled a lot in the execution of this plot line. But in some respects I think the intentions behind it were fairly good. The mangaka has never validated the racist society that Claudia was born into. People have been behaving in a foul manner to her her whole life due to the colour of her skin. But there were also good people, like the butler, the ...
