Synopsis

Anna Koshiro has been friends with two handsome guys, Sou and Hinata, since childhood. She has a crush on Enamoto, a first-year high schooler, but she has difficulty finding a boyfriend as everyone always wonders about the relationship between Anna, Sou and Hinata.

One day, she goes to Sou's house and finds out that Sou has a girlfriend. She is not jealous, but she feels like she has lost him. On the other hand, Sou's girlfriend is upset about how Anna comes into Sou's room so freely and asks Sou not to let Anna into his room again. However, Sou disagrees and ends their relationship. Anna decides to overcome the odds and confesses to her crush. Enamoto accepts, but upon finding out that Anna has a boyfriend, Sou gets upset.

On their first date, Anna finds herself in her room with Enamoto. She tells him about something that happened in the past: She once had a chipmunk named Coco, and when it died, Sou and Hinata brought her another chipmunk and telling her it was Coco. Her mother had told her to treasure Coco as the two of them had used their own money to buy Anna another chipmunk.

Enamoto then shocks Anna by asking which one of them she likes. After she replies that the one she likes is him, Enamoto tries to kiss her but Anna gets scared. She wants to call for Hinata and Sou but she can't. They both suddenly appear after Anna kicks Enamoto away. Of course, she cannot continue dating him after what happened. Although she can't get what Enamoto asked out of her head, Anna is sure that the she will never be anything more than friends with Hinata and Sou. But what will happen when Sou confesses his love to Anna and asks her to go out with him?

After reading much of the manga (as far as my manga app has posted for now), I got on MyAnimeList (my most trusted source) to see if they have made it into an anime. Out of curiosity, I looked at the reviews. I was actually surprised to see what horrible reviews this manga had.

This is my first review. After seeing the horrible reviews, I made an account right away to write this.
I have made anime reviews in the past via YouTube, and I generally know what to look at, so it isn't like I am some amateur.

Nonetheless, let us begin.

Story: 7
Yes, ... I agree, the story is actually pretty unoriginal. But has anyone ever thought about why this kind of story is so overused? Because it is usually very popular. I do think the story is intended more towards female readers, as it is a love of one girl and two guys, but I don't think quite so many people in general would dislike it if they just read it without such high expectations. From this type of story, you cannot enjoy it if you expect too much. If you are narrow-minded, do not bother reading it because you will just be another hater of this manga. Despite the overuse of this type of story, I think the plot is well written out. It has annoying and boring parts. It has flaws. But then again, doesn't every manga?

Art: 9
Maybe it's just me, but I thoroughly enjoy the art of this manga. The chibi drawings are adorable and I happen to like the art style. This is simply personal preference within every reader though.

Characters: 8
While I agree the characters are kind of cliché, I actually find them to be quite enjoyable. They are cliché, but they create a type of character foil that is not always conveyed in other mangas with similar plots. In case you do not know what character foil is, it means characters contrast one another. The main girl, Anna, is very much hated by readers because of how flawed she is. I personally like her. Readers expect the characters to obtain perfection since they aren't real life. The way she is, is exactly how we humans are in real life. People don't think about it, but that is why she annoys many readers. I think her character is a realistic personality that gives the story more of a relatable feel. As for Sou and Hinata, they very much contrast. It creates an interesting diversity for later in the story (it contains spoilers so I will not reveal what this is).

Enjoyment: 10
So far, I really adore this manga. If you're like me, and you read this manga with low expectations, you will probably (not a guarantee, but probably) enjoy it, as well. I love reading it and I look forward to when my manga app posts a new chapter every week for me!

Overall: 8
It has flaws. I agree. It's not perfect, but no manga is perfect. I think this manga is very underrated. It is a bit cliché, so I cannot put it over an 8, because to an actual critic's eye, it probably won't be a very good manga, but this manga, to me, has a certain charm that other manga with this type of plot doesn't have.

A lot of people says this manga is not very original, but I say "So what?". It's story and characters portrays a real life story. I could say Anna portrays someone like myself. The art style is good and unique. The story is not cliche, unlike those story that are predictable. It's boring me. I love this manga, its born with thrill and excitement! I could say, I've fallen in love with Hinata~ It's so sweet. I really loved this Manga, and I couldn't stop reading it until I finished it. I enjoyed it so much. It's captivating, it's funny and there were several moments where my heart skipped a beat. But the ending for me was a bit sad... (even though it was supposed to be happy).

[SPOILERS AHEAD]

She loved both Sou and Hina, and both of them really loved her too. But I feel like with Hinata there was something missing.

Hinata only kept a distance from Anna because he was afraid that Sou would get hurt. He was doing it for Sou. He didn't think about Anna's feelings. Sou ... did the opposite. He decided to put his own feelings aside because he kept Anna’s feelings on sight. Because he thought Anna would be happier being with Hinata, he supported their relationship. Of course he did it for Hinata as well (they were best friends after all), but the fact that he was always looking at Anna (even at a distance sometimes) was what touched my heart. He would always do everything thinking about her…

While Hinata was always running away from his fears (like when he didn’t tell Anna he liked her, when he was in a weird relationship with Mari-sensei, or when crazy Mari-sensei was back again in the story at his new school and he hided it from Anna), Sou was standing still, facing all his problems and fears. Even though it must have hurt him so much, Sou kept thinking about what would be best for Anna in every situation and doing everything he could over and over again. And even when he decided to keep a distance from Anna (which may seem selfish at first), he did it so she could work things out with Hinata, because he knew she liked him.

I wish the person Anna chose to be with was the one that not only she loved (since she loved both), but also the person who stood up for her the entire story. Sou was always there for her in the moments she needed, she was always his priority. He cherished her the most, so I was really sad for him at the ending.

I feel like Hinata was Anna’s first love, and like all first loves, he was really important to her and made a huge impact in her heart. But life happens and feelings change. And all that confusion in her head was that she didn’t realized what was going on yet. She loved Hinata first, they decided to become a couple and thinking rationally, she should be happy. But she wasn't. She liked Hinata for so long, fought so hard for him, and now that it was all settled, why wasn't she happy? Because after all the things that happened, Sou conquered a bigger place in her heart. Sou was her new love. Her feelings have changed and now she liked Sou the best. And I think the Manga ended right in the middle of her realizing all that.
