Synopsis

Yuuri Shibuya is an average high school student whose passion in life is baseball. That is until he intervenes in the bullying of a classmate, Ken Murata, and gets his head dunked in a toilet. Surprisingly he is sucked into the toilet, and ends up in another world. When he reaches dry land, he sees some people dressed in medieval costume and speaking in some weird vernacular. He assumes that it is a theme park of some sort. However, the people are afraid to see him and begin to pelt him with stones. There he meets Adalbert von Grantz who uses some form of magic so Yuuri understands the local language. Conrad Weller and Günter von Christ then rescue Yuuri and take him to Blood Pledge Castle, the residence of the Maou, where he soon finds out he is the new Maou or Demon King will rule over 'Shin Makoku' (True Demonic Kingdom).

He also meets up with Wolfram, to whom he accidentally becomes engaged through a mishap.

Throughout the series, Yuuri is constantly confronted with the results of even the smallest choices he makes. With a strange power dwelling inside of him, Yuuri becomes a deliverer of justice in the world of Shin Makoku.

I'll have to agree with others that the later half of the manga isn't as good as the first half, but this is still a manga I am still glad to have read.

Characters:
I think the characters are both the strengths and weakness of this manga. I do rather like the main characters as people I don't mind following around and witnessing their story. Wolfram in particular grew on me quite quickly (but I can see why people won't like him), and the other mains are rather pleasant people to watch, even if they are pretty cliche. I don't mind watching the characters going about with ...

Preliminary (35/133 eps)
First of all, I can't claim to have read everything, I have seen only bits and pieces from both its anime and manga and I don't know which one is closer to the original light novel, but I'll write from what I have seen since it's still ongoing and very long.

Story: 8
The plot seems to be very silly at a first point, but soon even the stupid "flushing" process gets explained, or at least thanks to Ulrike (which seems to be in the original novel and anime but doesn't appear in the manga?), plot seems to be progressing very well and gets rather serious quickly. ...

Spoiler
Kyo Kara Maoh has been my favorite since childhood and I've been a huge fan of the series as a whole for more than 11 years now and that most probably is the reason why I hated this manga adaptation so much. This is exactly the case where I'd say: "They had one job (to follow the LNs) and they couldn't do that right". The manga can be pretty much summed up in three words: clichés, fujo-pandering, tsundere and that is what destroyed this series. What I regret even more is that I hit my head really hard somewhere and ended up ordering the manga ...
